Summary
“Because revenge and rage never dissipate.” The dim lights of the pub caressed Boothill’s tanned face. They reflected in her grey eyes, a weird gleam like a round pearl in those dull pools. “They’re burning my heart, guts – I don’t even remember the last time I slept without nightmares.”
Robin’s throat burned, but she couldn’t tell if it was for the whiskey she’d just drunk or the consciousness that a woman she barely knew had trustfully laid her bleeding heart on her palms.
After leaving Las Vegas behind in a rush to outrun a hitman hired to kill her, Robin tries to find respite in Texas. But as she starts a new life under a new identity, the hitman, whom she has renamed the Butcher, seems to be on her trail again.
One late morning at a gas station, while the Butcher is searching for her, she meets a mysterious woman with a tragic past who offers to help her.Between a blooming (unexpected) relationship with this said woman and attempts to save herself, Robin learns she can’t fool Fate.
