Zuko was tolerated, never truly accepted. While Azula drew people in, Zuko scared them away. It made sense that Azula would be in the limelight.
Zuko was tired, he didn’t know why he kept on trying. If life wasn’t fair, why should he bother?
It was when Zuko met Sokka that everything changed for the better.
Sokka was a burst of yellow, brightening Zuko’s bland world. Sokka’s stories made Zuko smile. Sokka’s hugs were cosy and gentle. Zuko hid the disappointment he felt whenever Sokka let go.
But it was fine. Sokka was like a boomerang, he’ll always come back.
