Begin!

~Normal POV

Yu woke up to the sound of his alarm clock beeping loudly. He groaned and turned it off before sitting up in bed. He stretched and rubbed his eyes.

“Good morning, senpai…”

Yu smiled and looked to his side. Rise was lying there; still comfortably tucked under the blankets. She smiled sleepily up at him. Even with her long hair being a mess, she still looked gorgeous. God, he was so lucky…

“Good morning, Rise.” He leaned down and kissed her softly.

Being married to that special someone was a wonderful feeling. But of course, being married to an idol had its share of disadvantages too. For one thing, Rise was contractually not allowed to change her surname, due to branding issues. This honestly didn’t bother her that much. She knew it was bound to happen when they got married. Yu joked about changing his own name once, but decided not to worry about it. (“If we have kids, we’ll have them hyphenate instead.” And Rise agreed that was the best option.)

Kids weren’t exactly on the list right now anyway. Not while Rise was in between tours. And they’d only been married a few months now. No sense in rushing things. They wanted to settle into their new life first. A big house in Inaba, just like Rise wanted. Away from pesky fans and living close to their dear friends. It was perfect for them.

“Sleep well?” Rise asked.

“Mhm. You?”

“Yeah… it’s much easier to sleep with you next to me.” She admitted, playfully.

Yu chuckled. “Probably cause it’s in our bed instead of a tour hotel room.”

Rise giggled softly. “Yeah, that does help too.”

Yu moved to pull the blankets off himself so he could get up, but Rise stopped him. She had sat up and wrapped her arms around him, hugging him from behind. When he turned to look at her, she was smiling at him.

Yu knew that smile. That familiar mischievous Rise smile that told him she wanted something, and she was willing to play dirty to get it.

“Rise, I still have work today-”

“You don’t have to go in that early…”

“But I do need time to shower and get dressed.” Yu pointed out.

Rise started nuzzling his neck, her hands running along his body lazily. “Don’t you wanna stay in bed with your wife?”

“I would, but-” Yu was interrupted by her leaning over and kissing his cheek, making him turn red.

It wasn’t too easy to make Yu blush, but Rise knew how to push his buttons. And her soft hands running over his body made him ache to stay in bed with her. It was a deviously tempting offer… Just him and Rise spending a few lazy minutes in bed together in the early morning…

Yu quickly shook his head. “No- bad idea. Need to be firm.”

He attempted to shrug her off of him. “Rise, please. I don’t want to be late for work. Naoto won’t be happy.”

Back in their days as the Investigation Team, Yu had made a deal with Naoto to be her secretary when she finally became a real detective. A promise he had kept. While he knew he was safe from getting fired, he still didn’t like the idea of it. (People who had never been on the receiving end of a disappointed glare from Naoto wouldn’t understand.)

“I doubt she’ll be angry. Come on, I want to spend as much time with you as I can while I’m in town.” Rise said temptingly. “Please… Yu?”

He felt his face turn more red. It was a very rare occurrence to hear Rise call him by just his name. She kept up the “senpai” talk out of habit at this point, so it always felt special to hear her drop it. He decided maybe they could compromise instead. So they could both get what they wanted.

Yu turned to look at Rise properly. “Ok. Would it help if I just give you some extra kisses instead? Then I have to get up. Does that sound fair?”

Rise grinned brightly. “Mhmm!”

Just kisses?”

“Yeah, just kisses!” She replied, eagerly.

Yu smiled at her enthusiasm. “Alright…”

He gently ran his hand through her hair and pulled her in for a kiss. Rise wrapped her arms back around him tightly, humming softly against his lips.

One kiss quickly turned into several more. Until finally, Yu realized he didn’t want to go anywhere anytime soon…

~...

“You’re almost two hours late. And you wouldn’t answer your phone. I was getting worried. What happened?” Naoto asked.

Yu was standing in her office looking more disheveled than he usually did in the morning. It came with being in a hurry after realizing his mistake.

“Lost track of time, sorry…”

“I’d say blame Rise, but it was kinda my fault too.” He added, internally.

“I see…” She then asked, “And why are you wearing a scarf? It’s June.”

“...It’s fashionable.”

Naoto gave him one of her famous deadpanned looks. He knew lying to her wasn’t a smart idea. He already wasn’t great at lying, but Naoto especially could see through that stuff. He could tell she had figured out what really happened.

“Oh, don’t give me that look.” Yu said, dryly. “Don’t tell me you’ve never tried to keep Kanji in bed an extra hour before.”

Naoto turned bright red, but seemed to not have a retort to that. She instead glared at him, and turned back to her desk as if this conversation had never happened.

Yu nodded to himself. “Thought so.”

Though he was still kinda embarrassed by what happened, spending that extra time with Rise was worth it. After all, she was right, they had to take all the time they could while she was off work. Even if it might interfere with his own sometimes.
