Summary
A few months before his sixteenth birthday, Percy Jackson is taken by Kronos, and when he finally escapes, he knows one thing with terrifying certainty: He cannot face him again.
Instead of returning to Camp Half-Blood, Percy chooses the only place he might be safe: the Underworld. There, he asks Nico di Angelo to take his place in the prophecy, trading heroism for survival and Nico agrees.
Hidden beneath the world, Percy learns what it means to rest, to be cared for, to be something other than a weapon. But as Nico prepares to face Kronos in his stead, Percy is left with a different battle, learning how to live after everything that was done to him.
And when the war finally comes, the question is no longer who will defeat Kronos, but whether Percy will ever feel safe again.
