Work Text:

The first thing Hamin noticed when he woke up was silence.

Not the uncomfortable kind.

Not the silence that came from everyone being too busy to talk.

Not the silence of late nights in the company building when only the hum of computers remained.

This silence was warm.

Soft.

Peaceful.

The kind that wrapped around him like a blanket.

Sunlight filtered through the curtains of their apartment, painting lazy streaks of gold across the bedroom floor. Beside him, Bamby was still asleep, half buried under the duvet with his face pressed into Hamin's shoulder.

Hamin smiled immediately.

The past few months had been brutal.

Schedules that never aligned.

Meetings stacked on top of meetings.

Recording sessions.

Performances.

Deadlines.

Interviews.

Even though they worked in the same building and saw each other nearly every day, most of those interactions consisted of passing each other in hallways.

A quick kiss.

A tired smile.

A "Did you eat?"

A "Don't stay up too late."

And then they would disappear into different rooms again.

Being together wasn't the same as spending time together.

They both knew that.

So when they finally discovered they shared an entire free day, they protected it fiercely.

No meetings.

No calls.

No work.

Just them.

Hamin gently brushed Bamby's messy bangs away from his forehead.

Almost immediately, Bamby stirred.

"...Morning."

His voice was adorably raspy.

Hamin felt his heart melt.

"Morning."

Bamby's eyes blinked open slowly.

Then he smiled.

That smile alone made every exhausting day worth it.

"We really have today off, right?"

Hamin laughed.

"Yes."

"No one lied?"

"No one lied."

"No emergency schedules?"

"No emergency schedules."

Bamby dramatically collapsed back onto the mattress.

"Oh thank God!"

Hamin couldn't stop laughing.

They spent another thirty minutes simply lying in bed.

No phones.

No emails.

No alarms.

Just comfortably feeling each other's presence.

Bamby eventually rolled over and draped himself entirely across Hamin's chest.

"You're warm."

"You say that every day."

"Because it's true every day."

Hamin kissed the top of his head.

"And you're clingy every day."

"Also true."

Neither of them moved.

Neither wanted to.

For once there was nowhere else to be.

No one waiting for them.

Just each other.

And somehow that felt like luxury.

🌱🌸

By late morning they found themselves at a sauna.

The moment they stepped inside, both of them collectively sighed.

The warmth instantly relaxed muscles they didn't even realize had been tense.

Hamin leaned against the wooden wall while Bamby stretched beside him.

The heat wrapped around them.

Quiet conversations drifted through the room.

Steam floated lazily through the air.

For the first time in months, Hamin felt his shoulders fully relax.

Bamby noticed immediately.

His fingers brushed against Hamin's hand.

"Tired?"

Hamin chuckled.

"A little."

"A little?"

"Okay. A lot."

Bamby squeezed his hand.

"You worked too hard."

"So did you."

"That's different."

"It's literally not."

Bamby pouted.

Hamin pinched his cheek.

They sat together in comfortable silence.

No pressure to talk.

No need to entertain each other.

Just being present.

Sometimes that was enough.

Maybe more than enough.

After moving between hot rooms, cold baths, and relaxation spaces, both of them emerged feeling lighter.

Their skin was warm.

Their minds were clearer.

Their exhaustion hadn't disappeared completely, but it no longer felt crushing.

As they walked back to the car, Bamby stretched dramatically.

"I feel like a new person."

"You said that last time too."

"Because saunas are magic."

Hamin opened the passenger door for him.

"Then we should come more often."

Bamby's smile softened.

"We should."

🌱🌸

The moment they got home, all remaining productivity vanished.

Within ten minutes they had changed into pajamas.

Not normal pajamas.

Onesies.

Because Bamby had declared that a healing day required maximum comfort.

Hamin wore an oversized black cat onesie complete with ears and a tail. While Bamby wore a pink squirrel onesie with a fluffy tail attached to the back.

The moment Bamby saw Hamin fully dressed, he doubled over laughing.

"Oh my god."

"What?"

"You look ridiculous."

Hamin stared.

"You are literally a pink squirrel."

"That's different."

"It isn't."

"It is."

Hamin grabbed a nearby cushion.

Bamby immediately ran.

The resulting chase lasted approximately thirty seconds before they both collapsed onto the couch from laughing too hard.

The tails kept getting tangled together.

Neither could take the other seriously.

Especially when Bamby's squirrel hood kept sliding over his eyes.

Eventually they settled onto the living room floor.

A cozy playlist filled the apartment.

Gentle piano melodies.

Soft strings.

The kind of music that sounded like it belonged in a warm countryside cottage from a Ghibli film.

Outside, evening slowly settled over the city.

Inside, everything felt warm.

Safe.

Home.

🌱🌸

Dinner preparation became a team effort after it arrived.

Which mostly meant Bamby stealing food while Hamin tried to organize everything.

"Don't eat it yet."

"I'm quality checking."

"You've quality checked five pieces already."

"Excellent quality."

Hamin sighed.

Bamby grinned.

The dining table soon filled with food.

Tender bossam.

Rich, flavorful jokbal.

Buckwheat noodles.

And, of course, with extra buldak sauce.

Far more buldak sauce than was probably necessary.

Bamby was responsible for that.

"You put this on everything."

"Because it's good."

"One day you're going to burn your taste buds off."

"Worth it."

Hamin shook his head fondly.

They sat cross-legged on the floor.

Dinner spread between them.

Music drifting through the room.

Warm lighting illuminating the apartment.

No schedules waiting.

No managers calling.

No deadlines.

Just food.

And each other.

Bamby wrapped a piece of bossam and held it out.

"Open."

Hamin obediently accepted it.

"Good?"

"Very."

Bamby looked proud of himself.

As though he had personally cooked it.

The conversation drifted naturally.

From work stories.

To funny accidental mistakes.

To embarrassing memories.

To future vacation ideas.

To random hypothetical questions.

"If animals could talk, which one would be the rudest?"

"Cats."

Hamin stared.

"Excuse me?"

"You literally dressed as one today."

"You chose this outfit."

"Still counts."

"What about squirrels?"

Bamby gasped dramatically.

"Slander."

They continued talking.

And talking.

And talking.

Hours passed unnoticed.

Neither checked the time.

Neither cared.

Because this was what they'd missed.

Not grand dates.

Not expensive trips.

Not dramatic gestures.

Just this.

Eating together.

Laughing together.

Listening to each other's voices.

Sharing space.

Sharing silence.

Sharing life.

At some point the food disappeared.

The music continued.

The apartment grew darker.

And Bamby gradually migrated closer.

Until he was leaning entirely against Hamin's side.

Hamin wrapped an arm around him automatically.

The motion was instinctive.

Natural.

Like breathing.

Bamby sighed contentedly.

"I missed this."

The words were quiet.

Honest.

Hamin understood immediately.

"Me too."

For a moment neither spoke.

The music played softly in the background.

A piano melody floated through the room.

The city lights glowed outside their windows.

Bamby reached for Hamin's hand.

Their fingers intertwined.

"I know we're busy."

Hamin nodded.

"I know we can't always do this."

Another nod.

"But I like days like today."

Hamin pressed a kiss against his temple.

"So do I."

Bamby smiled.

His eyes were already getting sleepy.

The sauna.

The warm food.

The peaceful atmosphere.

Everything was catching up to him.

Hamin pulled a blanket over both of them.

Neither bothered moving to the bedroom.

The couch was comfortable.

Bamby curled closer.

His squirrel tail pressed awkwardly against Hamin's cat tail.

The sight made Hamin laugh quietly.

"What?"

"You look cute."

Bamby immediately buried his face into Hamin's shoulder.

"No."

"Yes."

"No."

"Very yes."

"I take back everything nice I've ever said about you."

Hamin laughed again.

The sound blended with the soft music.

With the quiet apartment.

With the peaceful night.

Bamby's breathing eventually slowed.

His body relaxed completely.

Half asleep.

Still holding Hamin's hand.

Hamin looked down at him.

At the pink squirrel onesie.

At the sleepy smile on his face.

At the person who made every exhausting day easier.

Every difficult moment lighter.

Every success sweeter.

And suddenly he understood why today felt so important.

It wasn't because they had

gone somewhere special.

Or because they had done something extraordinary.

It was because healing wasn't always found in grand moments.

Sometimes healing was found in warm food.

In comfortable pajamas.

In quiet conversations.

In soft music.

In intertwined hands.

In simply existing beside the person you loved.

The thought settled warmly in his chest.

Hamin rested his cheek against Bamby's hair.

And together, surrounded by the gentle sounds of music and home, they drifted into the most peaceful sleep they'd had in months.

— End.
