Work Text:

Porkins looked under his bed. It wasn't there.

Porkins looked in the drawer where he kept all his clothes in. It wasn't there either. Porkins looked under the pile of clothes that Carl had made in an attempt to tidy up. It wasn't there.

“Hey Porkins, I was wondering if you want to go to the cinema. They're showing Sonic 3.” Dave asked as he entered the very small bedroom before pausing, “What are you doing?”

“Looking for the consent letter my Ancient History teacher needs me to sign for the trip to the digging site.” Porkins replied, “I thought I left it on my bed but it's not here.”

Dave paused, thought a bit and then responded, “No, I remember you leaving a letter on the main room's table, because yesterday you came in with everything from classes, started to complain towards me about your Psychology teacher, put all your things on the table and then headed into your bedroom for a nap.”

“Oh yeah, thanks Dave,” Porkins said, getting up, and leaving the room, “When I've found the letter, I'll get back to you on Sonic 3.”

Porkins walked past Dave's and Alex's rooms before entering the main room.

It was spacious for a college dorm with one L-shaped sofa and an old but not too old TV on the TV stand. In-between the TV and the sofa was the main room table and lo and behold, everything Porkins brought home yesterday was there: his laptop, his phone, his Psychology book and his History book.

He rummaged around through that pile, looking for the letter but he couldn't find it.

The door of the flat opened, “Hey up Porkins,” said Carl as he entered the room.

“Hi, Carl, have you seen a letter? It's A4 and has the history department symbol on it.”

“Yeah, I found it while I was cleaning up.” he replied, sitting down on the sofa.

“What did you do with it?” Porkins asked.

“I gave it to Alex, seeing as it has the history department symbol on it.”

Porkins let out a sign, “That's my letter through.”

“Oh.” Carl said, “Well you should probably go catch her then, last I heard, she was on her way to the café for a date.”

“Which café?”

“The one with the little cupcake above that Alex really likes and Spidroth pretends to hate.” Carl replied, turning the TV on.

“Thanks Carl.” Porkins replied, shoving on his jumper and heading out.

He locked the door and walked down the stairs before leaving the apartment building.

The winds of winter were starting to make their way through the campus, killing off the bushes and leaves on the trees. The path to the café was covered in leaves, which Porkins didn't mind much as it reminded him of his old home back in Georgia.

Finally, he was there, at the café. He entered, a bell from above the door chiming.

In the corner was Alex and Spidroth, both enjoying sugar treats.

Alex saw him first, waving to get his attention. Porkins approach the two, slightly wary of Spidroth, “Really sorry to interrupt your date,”

“Porkins, it's fine,” Spidroth shrugged, “If it was Carl, I'd throw this drink at him but you're not Carl so you're fine.”

Porkins wasn't exactly sure what to say to that, “Thanks? Anyway Alex, Carl said he gave you a letter, do you still have it?”

Alex stared at the roof while thinking, “I don't think so? No wait, I don't.”

Most people would start to get tired of this by now, however this was Porkins, the guy who once got hit by a car and said sorry to the driver.

“Do you know where it is?” he asked.

“Ummmm, I think I gave it to Robo.” She replied.

“Why did you do that?” Spidroth asked, “Surely there was a bin nearby.”

“Well, I bumped into them and I give most things I don't know what to do with to Robo. They normally know what to do.”

“Okay, and where is Robo now?” asked Porkins.

“I think they was heading to the library.” Alex replied before shoving a massive bit of cake in her mouth.

“Is she going to be okay?” Porkins whispered to Spidroth.

“Yes, she'll be fine, she'll just crash in about thirty minutes. Sooner if she orders more.” Spidroth whispered back, “You should go now before she drags you into something.”

“What?”

“How do I phrase this?” Spidroth thought, “Ah, sugar-high Alex is the same as over-caffeinated Dave.”

“Oh.” Porkins said, “Leaving now, have a great date Alex, Spidroth.

Porkins quickly legged it out of the café before heading towards the library. The library wasn't too far away. Just a 5 minute walk away and Dave had texted him the time for Sonic 3 tomorrow so he picked the best times while walking.

Arriving at the library, he walked in, and immediately realised finding Robo would be a task. The library had three floors for god's sake.

Porkins checked the first one, no Robo. Checked the second one, no Robo.

“Of course, of course, why wouldn't Robo be on the last floor I check?” muttered Porkins to himself in the elevator.

“Oh Porkins, I've been looking for you.” said a voice as the doors opened.

Porkins looked up and Robo was there and they were holding a sheet of A4 paper.

“You have my letter?” Porkins asked, kind of shocked.

“Yes, Alex gave it to me,” Robo replied, entering the elevator and pressing the floor one button, “If I would have to guess, I would say Alex picked it up by accident, not realising the letter is for Ancient History rather than Modern History.”

“Close,” Porkins replied, grabbing the letter and checking something hasn't gotten spilt on it, “Carl gave it to Alex and she didn't check until she was halfway to the café.”

Robo nodded as the elevator dinged, and the doors opened.

“Porkins, I do have one question.” Robo asked as the two left the library, “Why were you so worried about the letter?”

“Well, as you see, the hand in date is tomorrow,” Porkins replied, showing Robo the letter.

They looked at it for a few seconds, “No it's not.”

“Yes it is.” Porkins said, “See, nine, ten, twenty six.”

Robo looked at their friend, wondering what was going through his head, “Porkins, we’re in England.”

Porkins looked back at Robo, “What does that have to do… oh.”

Hope you enjoyed. Any ideas for more chaos, drop it in the comments.

If you're curious, the college is in England but is like a USA college where you start at 18 but the lessons are based of English college courses, so basically high school just lasts two years longer.
