Someone once called me a “vibrant young lady.” My Dad just smirked. He knew my true nature. He raised me to be as blackhearted as he was.
My Mami wasn’t much better. She was a mercenary, but she was a product of her environment. She used the only tool at her disposal… her body… to try to lift herself out of poverty in Colombia. And became like chattel to my Dad.
I survived a waking nightmare in that insurgent camp. If they expect my soul to be anything less than black, I’ll have to disposess them of their fanciful notions.
