This was by far the worst idea you'd ever let yourself get dragged along for.
"Fíli!" you hissed, looking around the empty hall for any dwarrow who happened to be going on a late night walk. "Fíli Durin you know we cannot go in there!"
Fíli paid you no mind as he rushed across the hall and over to the door to Kíli's chambers. "Kee will never know we were here, we just get in and get out," he reasoned. "Anyway, I owe him pay back for the time I woke up with red paint all over my nose."
"Why do I have a feeling that you deserved that red paint?" you whispered as you crossed the hall and joined him by the door.
"Oh I definitely did," Fíli chuckled, "but this time we're only sneaking in to retrieve my dagger, nothing more. What could go wrong?"
"And why do I have to come with you? Does the Durin heir need emotional support?"
Fíli took your hand and smiled, "Something like that," before slowly opening the door. You held your breath as it opened, waiting to hear a creak, but none came. When you were sure the coast was clear, you entered.
Kíli's chambers were dark, illuminated only by the light from the hall, though once the door closed behind you, you were cast into darkness. Eventually your eyes adjusted and when they did you found that you were holding on quite tightly to Fíli's hand. You hastily let go. "Lets just go find this blasted dagger and be done with this."
You and Fíli split up and moved about the room, searching for the dagger. If you were Kíli, where would you hide something that you'd stolen from your brother? The issue was, Kíli didn't seem to be organized enough to hide anything at all. There were random objects strewn about his room, a pillow on the floor, his bow propped up against a shelf. How could anyone live like this?
"Found it!" you heard Fíli call to you from across the room after a few minutes of searching. You turned to face him but as you did, you tripped over a book on the ground. You tried to brace yourself on the armchair next to you. It cushioned your fall but consequently knocked over the quiver of arrows that had been resting on it.
As the arrows loudly clattered to the floor, you and Fíli froze, waiting to see if the noise had woken Kíli. Sure enough, in the silence you heard noise coming from Kíli's bedroom. Fíli swore under his breath in Khuzdûl before he grabbed your hand and the two of you ran to the door.
Oh shit, shit, shit!
Just before you reached the exit, light came on in Kíli's room, blocking your path to the door. You and Fíli both looked around the room for some place, any place to hide. You spotted a small closet and dragged Fíli in, shutting the door behind you just as Kíli rounded the corner.
You watched through a small crack in the door as Kíli examined the arrows that had fallen. He didn't seem to be fully awake, still rubbing sleep from his eyes and you prayed that he wouldn't hear your heavy breathing from just feet away.
"What's he doing now?" Fíli whispered, but at the noise Kíli looked up as if he'd heard something. You quickly slapped your hand over his mouth to silence him, earning a startled, but muffled, grunt from Fíli.
Kíli must have dismissed the sound as something out of his imagination because he gathered up all of the arrows and returned to his bedroom. You waited patiently for the light to go out, but after several minutes with no change, you gave up. It seemed that Kíli was awake now.
"Ugh, the light isn't turning off," you muttered and then when you received no reply from Fíli you looked over only to find you'd forgotten to remove your hand from his mouth. "Oh sorry!"
"Don't apologize Ibrizinlêkh," Fíli replied, his hand coming up to brush your cheek, "I didn't mind in the slightest."
Ignoring his inviting tone, you turned your head away. "No. I'm sorry for getting us into this mess, that quiver–"
"Don't worry," Fíli turned your head back to face him, "takhlibi mi razûkh. I was the one who snuck us in here, not you."
The longer he looked at you, the more you became increasingly aware of how little room there was in this closet, a flush creeping up your neck that you really hoped Fíli couldn't see in the dark. With nothing else to do but wait, you reached your hand up to examine one of Fíli's moustache beads. "I've never noticed the runes on this one before, what does it mean?"
Fíli cleared his throat, looking down before answering. "Biramadmimi. It means commitment, the one on the other side means persistance."
"Did you craft them yourself," you whispered, leaning in even closer to see all the little intricate details.
It just so happened that at this distance you could also see the pink warming Fíli's cheeks as he answered, "Yes, they–"
Suddenly something shifted in the closet behind you, some sort of box falling, and pressed you even closer to Fíli's warm body.
As Fíli's hands came to rest perfectly on your hips you stilled. "Your eyes are really pretty up close," he breathed, almost afraid to break the moment.
You scoffed. "How could you know? It's pitch black in here." Though that didn't stop you from smiling at his compliment.
"Have you forgotten that I am a dwarf? The dark poses no problem for me." Fíli leaned in closer and you felt the press of a strong thighs between yours. "For example, I can see exactly how you react to being this close to me, amrâlimê." You were beginning to lean in too when your common sense finally got the better of you.
"Stop," you said, putting your palms on his chest. Fíli instantly pulled back, searching your eyes for any sign of harm. "We shouldn't be doing this Fíli!"
Fíli raised a brow. "What, sneaking into my brother's room? I think it's a bit too late for that…"
You hit him lightly on the arm. "I'm serious Fíli."
"So am I," he repeated. "We're already here, we have a while to wait, and besides, where else have we had this privacy?"
Fíli did present a convincing arguement… "Alright then," you murmered, leaning in, "Show me–"
His lips were on yours before you could even finish the sentence. He kissed like a man possessed—hungry and desperate, but soft—and soon you found yourself caught up in the moment with him, your body pressing into his. You hummed appreciatively into his mouth when you felt his arm circle around your waist, pulling you even closer to him.
"I like the taste of your lips on mine," Fíli murmered into your mouth as you broke for air, both panting hard, before he captured your lips again.
You could feel him smile into the kiss as your hands traced up his torso before tangling in his hair and pulling him down to you. Much to your satisfaction, your fingers in his hair, playing with his braids caused Fíli to let out a groan of pleasure. You both were so caught up in each other that neither of you heard the sound of footsteps approaching.
The door flew open and there stood a stunned Kíli, still in his sleep clothes. You and Fíli scrambled apart as fast as you could in the cramped space as Kíli yelled, "What in Mahal's name are you two doing in my closet?!"
You glared at Fíli. "Private huh?"
