Chapter Text
Kaidou grabs his bag from his desk, ready to walk home with Saiki and Nendou. He smiles to himself when he thinks of Nendou’s stupid face asking to get ramen for the 3rd time this week.
“Shun!” A voice calls. Kaidou turns around, seeing the familiar face of Aren.
“Aren!” He answers back. A smile plastered on his face at the mere site of the purple haired boy. He feels himself turn red;not that Aren noticed anyway, he never did.
“Can I walk with you today?” Aren asks, his expression a mix of nervousness and excitement, “I have something to tell you.”
Kaidou nods. “Anything to get away from Nendou honestly. I don’t even have any money after his absurd amounts of ramen trips”
Aren laughs but it feels forced. Kaidou notices, but he doesn't say anything about it.
The two guys walked together, they lived far away but Aren usually dropped Kaidou off (on the rare occasions they walked together) before walking to his own home which was on the other side.
“So, Aren” Kiaodu starts, “What did you have to tell me? You said it's important?”
Aren, scratches his neck nervously, “Well-”
“Wait no! Let me guess!” Kaidou says, striking an absurd pose, “The Dark Reunion! You saw its tremendous evil power now you need my help to save the world! Right?”
Aren pauses, forcing himself to laugh at Kaidou’s joke again.
“Not really. This is…Kinda serious Shun.” He says, pushes his glasses up even though there was no sign of them slipping down.
Kaidou tenses up, “Sorry” he says before shutting up so Aren can continue.
“Shun.” Aren says, “I like you, a lot.” Aren puts a hand on Kaidou’s shoulder, his face red as his grip on Kaidou’s shoulder tightened. “You were the first person to treat me like I was a normal person even though you knew for a fact I wasn’t. You were always there for me whenever I needed it and being with you is always the one thing I look forward to. I’m really sorry, you can say no it's just I needed to get this off my chest.”
Kaidou stood there in shock, his expression shifting from confused to hurt to anger. “Aren, how could you? We’re best friends! You can’t just… You’re joking right? Please tell me you’re joking.”
The hurt look in Aren’s eyes was all the confirmation Kaidou needed. He shrugged off Aren’s hand and ran away, tears welling up in his eyes.
