Love at first sight doesn't exist.
Or at least Kohaku would think it wouldn't.
After all, how could you love someone you didn't even know?
That was what she thought after hearing a couple women from before the petrification talk about it.
Or it was probably what she would thought, except she was pretty sure it happened to her.
Two times and both were with Senku.
The first time she saw him had been from a large distance.
She had honestly only been curious after seeing the smoke rise up and set her own fires to see how they'd respond, going closer upon to try and and see what kind of people were somehow living outside of the village.
What she saw instead had shocked her to her core.
She saw how a man held a woman hostage and to save her another (handsome) man had fearlessly sacrificed himself for her.
Seeing such selfless bravery had touched Kohaku's heart and despite not even knowing him, she had burned with rage and desire to avenge him. And there had even been grief.
After all, even if she did not know him, she could tell from what she saw that he was an honest man who like her would do whatever he needed to protect those he cared for.
She knew he would have definately been a man she could have fallen for, had she met him in person.
Her plan of avenging him didn't go that well, unfortunately, as she was easily beaten by the long-haired man and ended up getting pinned under a tree far too large for her to lift on her own, even if she could get a good grip, and leaving her completely trapped.
What she hadn't expected was how only a few moments later, the same man she had been trying to avenge to appear.
She found her earlier assumptions on him were not even giving him enough credit.
This man would do whatever he needed to do to save those he cared for, but also someone like her who he just met.
He hadn't even hesitated before rushing to her aid, even giving her a choice on how he's save her, thinking of her safety and health.
After wards he had worked slowly but steadily, going step by step, never stopping even when his hands turned red and raw as he build a contraption she had never seen till he finally climbed into a tree and jumped down and the thing managed to lift the tree from her.
He was kind, brave and selfless to friends and strangers and refused to give up.
He was definately someone she wanted to stand with her.
"My name is Kohaku, and I seem to have fallen for you."
She was honestly pretty sure she'd already fallen for him just from what she saw on the mountain, but seeing him the second time had made her realize it.
She guessed love at first sight did exist.
In some cases, at least.
