Work Text:
Endo was practically wearing away the ground of the apartment he shared with Chika. Chika had said that he would be an hour, two at most. At first, Endo wasn’t worried. Sometimes Chika got held up or distracted with something else but he’d never be more than ten minutes off of the time he said he’d come home. However, he was now an hour overdue and Endo may have been spiraling slightly.
Sure, Chika was strong, a little crazy and lacking empathy which made him a ruthless fighter but Chika was also beautiful and if someone really wanted to, there were ways.
The thought made Endo’s fists clench. If anyone dared to hurt him, he would snap their bones like twigs and tear off their skin or cut them into pieces and leave bloodied bits of flesh lying around for three months and the perpetrator would be alive for at least two of them. Or maybe he would slowly amputate parts of them until there was nothing left and then he would see those on the black market and use the money to get a better living arrangement and new hair extensions for Chika.
Chika was his and his only.
Endo tipped over a chair as his anger rose, causing a loud bang to echo through the apartment which continued on for a few seconds after the chair had hit the ground which he quickly realised was, in fact, the door.
Chika never carried around his keys or his phone. His reasoning was that his keys made it so he wasn’t able to sneak around without being heard and that his phone would very rapidly get broken because of all the fights he got into. Ever since Chika broke the door down because Endo didn’t open it (he was sleeping), Endo had kept a spare key hidden in a small compartment behind the doorbell which was practically impossible to see unless you knew exactly where it was.
Chika never used the doorbell. He always knocked which Endo had come to accept as a quirk of his. However, with the installation of the hidden key, Chika had been unlocking the door using it more frequently.
Endo strode over to the apartment’s white door and opened it, completely prepared to flirt with Chika who would look at him blankly before Endo let him in. He was not expecting for Chika to suddenly collapse in his arms.
“Chika!” he exclaimed as the boy with the red tips in his hair went practically limp against him. Endo easily lifted him up and dragged him over to the sofa, putting him down gently before shutting the door and returning to his boyfriend’s side. Now he had a better look at him.
Chika was bleeding from his mouth and nose. The rest of his normally flawless face was banged up with scratches and bruises, including a shiner on his left eye. Chika's hand was pressed against his side where red was blooming underneath. Endo didn’t know about any other injuries under his clothes but for now, he had to deal with Chika’s side where the bleeding seemed the worst.
“Chika, what happened?” Endo said, running to the kitchen where the first aid kit was kept. Opening the green box up while heading back towards him. Chika’s eyes were half lidded, his speech slurred “Got into a fight.”
Endo cut open Chika’s shirt with scissors. He couldn’t waste time trying to get it over his head. Chika could be pissed at him later when he was alive and well out of danger. The wound on Chika’s side looked like it was caused by a knife of some sort. Endo whistled and the impressive amount of blood, now dripping all over the sofa. The first step was to stem the bleeding.
He took gauze out of the med kit, pressing it onto the knife wound as Chika whimpered. For the second time that day, Endo thought his ears were broken. Chika? Whimpering? He must be in a lot of pain or losing his mind. “I’m sorry.” he whispered softly, his tattooed hand, the one that wasn't holding the gauze down firmly, reached over to grab Chika’s hand. Chika immediately squeezed his hand with the force of a thousand elephants which was unlike the usual loose way he held Endo’s hand when they went on a walk together or when they were lying in bed together. Chika wasn’t the hugging type. In three years of officially dating, they’d maybe shared three or four long hugs. The most recent was on Chika’s birthday. The first one was when Endo had a nightmare and didn’t realise he was clinging to Chika until he woke up. Chika hadn’t pushed him away.
“What happened?”
Chika cracked one eye open “Already told you. Got in a fight.”
“Yes but how? Who? Why?”
“Overheard some Furin punk call you a psycho.”
Endo didn’t realise he would get pissed about something like that. Chika was unpredictable but of all things…“Chika,” Endo said firmly “That was a stupid reason to get in a fight.”
Chika met Endo’s eyes, his expression simmering with resolve and maybe a bit of anger that wasn’t directed at Endo “It made me happy to see those boys lying in their blood, Yamato.” Endo couldn’t argue with that. Chika saying his name always made him weak at the knees. It was just so hot to hear his name from him.
The bleeding slowed down enough that Endo could take the gauze off and begin disinfecting the wound. Chika winced slightly but otherwise stayed completely still. Endo did this about a month after they’d met and Chika was squirming the entire time and it was nearly impossible to do it properly but now, he kept completely still just letting Endo work. His eyes were even closed!
Endo finally placed fresh gauze over the wound before sealing it up with medical tape. He sat back on his heels “Any other injuries that I don’t know about?” Chika shook his head, almost on the verge of falling asleep. Endo took a second to dab at the scrapes on Chika’s face when Chika grabbed his wrist, pulling him closer. The tattooed man didn’t resist “What?” he chuckled softly.
Chika’s other hand slid around his neck in a clumsy half-hug. That was the first time Chika had ever initiated a hug. Endo wouldn’t try his luck on kisses. He carefully shoved Chika over so he could climb in beside him and hug him properly, Chika’s face in his neck, their bodies intertwined like vines on a sofa, in an apartment, in an apartment block, on a street, in Makochi.
