Work Text:
Beanies felt the brush of something soft against his leg. Looking down, he saw Stacy, pupils wide. The picture of cuteness.
Beanies smiled at her face. It had been a long day, but seeing her made it feel like all his issues were being washed away. "Oh, does someone want to play?"
Stacy couldn't reply, but she simply raised two paws to his legs and placed it there, her claws gently brushing up against the fabric of his pants. Beanies decided to take it as a "yes".
He set the project he was currently working on down and knelt down to her eye level, producing a small ball made of felt from his pocket. He then tossed it her way.
Stacy excitedly scampered to the ball and batted it back in Beanies' direction. Beanies returned the gesture, now low enough that his belly was scraping the ground. It may have been uncomfortable, but he didn't care about that.
The ball hit the wall where his table was parked at. Stacy snagged the ball with her claws before diving under Beanies' desk chair. She was so excited and happy! She loved her owner so much.
Beanies, however, felt his patience running thin. As fun as it was to play with Stacy, he needed to finish his work. It was only a matter of time before the Nobel Institute recognized his genius, after all.
Beanies guided Stacy to the room's exit. "Alright, that's enough. I must keep working, okay?"
Stacy took one last look at him, her tail raised expectantly, before he shut the door on her.
Beanies grimaced as he examined his coat and pants. Absolutely covered in dust and miscellaneous crap from the lab floors.
But he supposed it was okay. After all, no time spent with Stacy was wasted.
