Summary
Mok never knew when Rome would call, but when he did, it was always in the evenings, after Mok had finished his nightly rounds to secure the house and retired to the privacy of his own room, the only place in the whole Arseni empire where he could simply be himself.
When he called, he was always at least a little tipsy, although never quite as drunk as the first time, as if now that he knew Mok would listen to him without hanging up, he didn’t need quite so much liquid courage to get out the words.
