Work Text:
Hashirama and Madara have a surprise parent-teacher conference with Minato after their son Obito gets in trouble for skipping class.
Obito wished he could just disappear into thin air as he nervously sat in his teacher’s living room.
He dreadfully waited for his parents to arrive, knowing that he was about to be in a lot of trouble when they did.
His classmate and rival, Kakashi Hatake, was the biggest idiot in the world. That was why he was here, damn it.
Okay sure, maybe Obito shouldn’t have been skipping class…but it wasn’t his fault!
His best friend slash rival Kakashi had stayed home from school due to being sick, and Rin’s family had been away in another town visiting their cousins for the week (the girl had insisted on doing all of her schoolwork weeks in advance so she wouldn’t have anything to catch up on), leaving Obito practically friendless for the day.
He did have some other acquaintances, but they were all boring as hell. That morning, the class was informed that they’d be having a substitute instead of Minato anyway.
So, instead of spending the entire day alone and bored, he decided to play hooky. After seeing that his friends weren’t in first period, he slipped out of the classroom before the substitute teacher could see him.
Unfortunately, he wasn’t expecting to run into his real teacher at the store he went to.
You see, Obito was planning on buying some fresh soup for Kakashi and sneaking into his room to hang out with him until the end of the school day. He figured Minato and Kushina would be checking in on him as well, so he was prepared to hide.
However, he was never able to even make it that far, as he had accidentally ran into his teacher almost immediately.
“Obito-kun?” Minato asked, lifting a curious eyebrow. He watched as his student’s eyes widened, taking notice of his confused sensei. ‘I am so dead!’ Obito thought the moment his gaze fell upon Minato.
He had to get his story straight, and fast. “O-Oh, hey Minato-sensei! What are you doing here?” Obito asked. Minato placed his hands on his hips, giving Obito a look that said ‘really?’.
“I should be asking you that question.” He said. Obito gulped, not going unnoticed by his teacher.
“Why are you here instead of in class?” Minato asked. Obito’s brain scrambled in an attempt to find an excuse that would make sense.
“I…had study hall!” Obito exclaimed. Minato narrowed his eyes at Obito, an unamused look on his face. “Study hall?” He repeated dryly.
Obito nodded with a nervous smile. “Yeah! So, I decided to just go up the street and get me some soup!” He said.
For the first time, Minato’s eyes went down to what the boy was holding in his hands. A nice hot bowl of freshly made chicken noodle soup, something Minato knew wasn’t necessarily Obito’s go to in terms of food.
This food was for somebody, someone who was most likely sick, but why wasn’t Obito telling him who?
That combined with the long, awkward silence helped Minato put two and two together.
“Obito, I took the day off to help take care of Kakashi since he was sick. I think you knew this already and decided to take the chance of skipping class to go hang out with him, hence the soup.” Minato nodded towards the soup.
Obito grimaced, looking down at his feet guiltily. He read like a book, his facial expressions telling Minato everything he needed to know.
“…I just wanted to check on Kakashi, Minato sensei! Besides, with you not being there, it was practically a sign that I should leave too! It was just one day, no big deal!” Obito exclaimed, excusing all of his previous actions and trying to stand by them unapologetically.
Minato clearly didn’t see his vision, though, as he immediately brought the boy back to his house and got him started on finishing all of the schoolwork he had been slacking on in the quiet living room. Minato didn’t even let him turn the tv on!
“Sensei, do I really have to d-“ A stern and no nonsense look immediately shut Obito up.
The boy proceeded to do his school work, complaining on the inside since he knew doing so on the outside would most likely lead to him finishing his work on a sore behind. Minato was not one to test when it came to things like this.
As gentle as he was, he would also put his foot down when he had enough. Obito knew that first hand very well.
Kushina walked in with a glass of water and a plate of carrot sticks with ranch, setting them both down on the desk he was sitting at.
“I can’t believe you were skipping! You know better than that, knucklehead!” Kushina scolded, glaring down at the little brat. Obito huffed, crossing his arms over his chest.
“School is so boring, Kushina-san! Especially without friends! You wouldn’t understand.” He said.
Kushina shook her head. “Oh, I understand perfectly well. I also understand that you are too smart of a boy to skip school, so don’t you go making it a habit. Or else, it’ll be you, me, and my slipper! Do I make myself clear?!” Kushina demanded, crossing her arms over her chest.
Obito went pale momentarily, his eyes widened as he thought about the threat. Kushina had swatted him a few times before for misbehaving in her home, but she had never doled out a full spanking to him.
Kakashi had told him that it was not a pleasant experience though, and he believed him one hundred percent, so he didn’t want to get on Kushina’s bad side.
“Yes, ma’am.” Obito said, rapidly nodding. Kushina sighed, gently running her hand through Obito’s hair.
“It was very sweet of you to want to bring Kakashi soup, honey.” She said, her tone softer and more motherly.
Obito shrugged, downplaying how much Kakashi truly was a friend to him. “Ehh, he was sick. It was the least I could do. It’s no big deal, it’s not like we’re best friends or something.” Obito said nonchalantly.
Kushina chuckled, amused at the obvious lie. Both Kakashi and Obito were too stubborn to admit that they cared about each other, so she was already expecting this reaction from the boy.
“Sure, whatever you say. Finish up that school work.” Kushina said, nodding towards the paper in front of him and leaving the boy to do his work.
Obito could barely focus, his mind focusing on the future consequences of his decision to skip school. Out of all of the places his teacher could’ve gone, he decided to go to the same exact store as Obito.
As time went on, Obito had begun to get bored. At least if he had stayed in school he could have just bullshit his way through and played a game on his phone. He knew his parents were definitely going to be confiscating it after today.
Before he knew it, he heard the familiar sound of his parents' voices as they entered the house. He grimaced, his body tensing up nervously. The twelve year old knew he was going to have a lot of explaining to do.
“Thank you so much for coming on such short notice. I wasn’t expecting to have a parent-teacher conference today, but I believe this warranted it.” Minato says, giving Madara and Hashirama a soft, welcoming smile.
They had become family friends over the years, as their children were close. Obito and Kakashi often had sleepovers and would hang out all the time, they had even spent some holidays together.
So, the pair of fathers had greatly appreciated Minato taking Obito under his wing and caring for him like his own. They did the same for Kakashi, of course.
However, this also applied to scoldings and discipline as well. Neither set of parents were willing to let either kid go undisciplined when they really needed it, so both Obito and Kakashi knew better than to test their friend’s parents.
Hashirama and Madara wearily looked over at their son, confusion in their eyes.
Minato had told them that he was there, but he said that he wanted the boy to tell them about his wrongdoings himself. So, they had no idea why he was here rather than at school.
“Thank you for letting us know that Obito was here rather than at school. I’m sure he has an explanation as to why that is, don’t you son?” Hashirama said, crossing his arms and lifting an eyebrow at the boy.
Obito gulped, nervously playing with the pencil in his hands. His parents were staring at him, understandably expecting him to begin explaining himself. However, he just couldn’t bring himself to speak.
Madara cleared his throat warningly, giving him a pointed look. Suddenly, Obito found the ability to speak again!
“I…I skipped school and ran into Minato sensei at the store.” He admitted sheepishly.
Hashirama gasped while Madara narrowed his eyes at him, neither looking too pleased.
“Obito Uchiha! What on Earth were you thinking? You know better than to play hooky!” Hashirama scolded, walking closer to the boy with Madara by his side.
Obito frowned, standing to his feet. “But dad, none of my friends were there, and there was a substitute teacher anyways! We weren’t going to be doing much in the first place, so I figured I’d just go to the store and-“ Obito paused, grimacing.
Uh oh…he had said too much.
Madara gave him a stern look, urging him to continue. “And what?” He demanded through gritted teeth. Oh, he was pissed.
Obito looked down at his feet, unable to make eye contact with either of them any longer.
“I got some soup for Kakashi.” He said, keeping it simple and short. That, of course, wasn’t enough for them.
“And why did you get him some soup when he was being taken care of at home already?” Hashirama asked, not letting the boy get off that easily.
Obito took in a deep breath, looking at Minato desperately for assistance. Minato gave him a nod, telling him to continue.
He couldn’t help the boy out of this mess, not this time. He needed to tell his parents the truth himself, as Minato believed in teaching his kids about taking responsibility for their actions.
Exhaling, Obito guiltily looked up at his fathers. “I was going to sneak into his room and keep him company for the day until school got out.” He admitted. Hashirama massaged his temples, while Madara shook his head.
“So, not only did you sneak out of school knowing that it was wrong, but you also were planning on sneaking into Minato and Kushina’s house to see your friend, and then presumably proceed to lie to us about how your day at school was when we asked once you got home? Did I cover everything?” Madara asked, counting the boy’s disobedient acts on his fingers.
Obito frowned, nodding softly. “Yes, sir.” He said. Minato couldn't help but to feel slightly bad for the boy, even if he did deserve to face consequences for his disobedience.
“It was very kind of you to want to get soup to help Kakashi get better, Obito-kun. I appreciate the sentiment, and I know Kakashi would too.” Minato said, walking over and gently ruffling Obito’s hair.
Hashirama nodded. “Mmhm.” He agreed, acknowledging that in theory it was a nice thing to do.
“Next time though, you need to just wait until after school. Your education is important, and you shouldn’t miss a day unless you absolutely have to. Even on days where you have a substitute. I know it’s not fun not having your friends in class for the day, either. However, that’s no excuse to skip school.” Minato said.
The blonde placed his hand on the boy’s shoulder, facing Obito to look him in the eye.
“Also, if I ever catch you trying to sneak into my house young man, I will give you a spanking you won’t soon forget. I’m sure your parents will have quite a bit to say to you as well.” Minato looked over at Hashirama and Madara who nodded.
“Oh, we certainly will. Just like we will as soon as we get home.” Madara said. Obito groaned softly, loathing the idea of going home.
“Do you understand, Obito?” Minato asked. Obito nodded sulkily. “Yes, sensei. I’m sorry.” He said.
Minato gave him a gentle smile before pulling him into a hug. “You’re forgiven, Obito-kun.” He said softly, resting his chin on top of the boy’s head.
Obito leaned into the hug, soaking up all of the comfort he could before being sent off to his doom.
Before they left, Obito paused and gave Minato a hopeful look. “Hey, sensei…could you tell Kakashi that I said get better soon?” He asked with a soft blush.
Minato grinned, amused at the boy’s shyness. He didn't want to openly admit that he was Kakashi’s best friend, but they all knew it.
“Yes, I will.” Minato promised.
The ride home was silent and tense. Obito knew he was in for quite a bad time once they got home.
Neither of his fathers were pleased with being called to an impromptu teachers conference in the morning when their son was supposed to be at school.
When they got inside, Madara locked the front door behind him and nodded towards the stairs.
“Go to your room and wait for us. No T.V, no computer, no video games, and put that phone on my dresser. Now.” He demanded sternly.
Obito wanted to protest and stomp up the stairs, but he wasn’t a complete idiot. He knew that neither of his fathers would put up with that.
So, he obediently went to his room, knowing that he was in more than enough trouble as it was.
Obito belly flopped onto his bed, sighing helplessly. Whenever he had to wait for his parents to come in, he knew he was in for quite a stern talking to.
Well, he was aware that more than just ‘talking’ would be taking place, but all he could do now was question his life choices.
He didn’t have to wait long, though. Soon, Hashirama and Madara walked in.
Closing the door behind them, Hashirama placed his hands on his hips. “Well, what do you have to say for yourself, little boy?” He demanded firmly.
Obito sat up, his feet nervously swinging off the side of his mattress. “I’m… sorry for skipping?” He tried meekly.
Madara glared down at his son, lifting an eyebrow. “Are you asking us or are you telling us?” He asked.
Obito frowned, looking down at his hands in his lap. “I’m telling you. I am sorry for skipping school and for planning on sneaking into Minato sensei’s house to hang out with Kakashi instead of being in school.” He apologized, his head bowed.
“You know better, Obito. I know that you were disappointed that your friends weren’t there today, but ultimately school is a place to learn. When we send you to school, we expect you to stay there until it is time for you to go home.” Madara scolded firmly.
“And for you to seriously plot sneaking into their house? Are you kidding me?!” Hashirama exclaimed, making Obito grimace at his tone.
“Just how were you expecting to get inside? I assume you weren’t planning on just walking through the front door.” Hashirama asked.
Obito gulped once more, knowing that the answer was not something either of his parents would want to hear.
“Look at me when I am speaking to you, young man!” Hashirama demanded. Obito looked up at him, nervous regret on his face.
“I-I was…I was planning on climbing through his window.” He said, wincing as he stated his plan. It sounded even worse outloud.
“You could have gotten seriously hurt doing that. What the hell were you thinking?” Madara asked.
“I just wanted to keep Kakashi company and not be at school alone. I didn’t mean to cause any trouble.” Obito said with a frown.
Madara shook his head, crossing his arms. “No, you didn’t mean to get caught.” He corrected sharply. “Well, you’re going to learn a thing or two about being sneaky today.”
Obito’s eyes widened as Madara’s hands went to his belt, his jaw dropping. “Pa, no! Not the belt! Come on, I said I was sorry!” He exclaimed, standing to his feet and moving back to the side of the bed.
“Come here, boy. You’ve earned yourself a spanking, and I’m not arguing with you about it.” Madara said, sitting down on the bed and pointing to the spot in front of him expectantly.
Obito looked at his other father with big eyes, hoping to gain some sympathy.
Hashirama shook his head, hardening his heart and remaining firm. “You aren’t getting out of it this time, kiddo. I’m sorry, but you need to answer for your poor decisions and accept the consequences.” He said.
Obito pouted, but slowly scooted over to Madara. He didn’t want to give his father any reason to add extra smacks to his punishment.
When he got close enough to be within arms reach, Madara grabbed Obito by the hand and turned him over his lap, setting the belt aside for now.
He swiftly tugged the boy’s pants and underwear down, ignoring the angsty groan that left his mouth.
Madara rested a hand on Obito’s back, keeping him steady. Obito looked down at the floor, anxiously waiting for the first swat to land.
“We are very disappointed in you, Obito. We expect much more from you. You know better.” Madara said sternly.
Then, he landed a sharp smack across Obito’s behind, earning him a grunt in response.
Hashirama stood by and quietly observed, his arms crossed. He knew Madara could handle it by himself, but it was good to be there for emotional support.
“Ouch! Pa, please! This is unnecessary! I swear I’ll never-OWW! Cut school again! OWW, OWW! AH!” Obito yelped as his bottom was peppered with sharp smacks.
Madara’s palm was big, covering a large portion of Obito’s backside. His swats were heavy and precise, making Obito quite vocal.
“Good. You’re also never going to even think about sneaking in through somebody’s window again. All it takes is one misstep for you to end up in the hospital.” Madara stated, continuing to land sharp smacks.
Obito cried out, kicking his legs and squirming over his father’s knee. He was convinced that Madara somehow always knew how to make a spanking feel a thousand times worse than it really was.
“I won’t! AH! OWW OWW OUCH! OWW! Papa, I’m sorry!” The brunette whined.
Hashirama felt bad as he watched Obito’s bottom rapidly begin to turn red. ‘Poor Obito-kun. I really hope he doesn’t try to pull something like this again.’ He thought.
This wasn’t easy on Madara, either. Despite his hard exterior, he hated having to discipline their son. It was the hardest part of parenting, but neither he nor Hashirama were willing to let Obito go down a bad path. So, they pushed through.
“I want to believe you, son. Words are just words, though. You need to show me with your actions.” Madara said, never stopping his hand from falling.
As the spanking went on, Obito began to openly cry. Tears rolled down his cheeks as he held onto Madara’s leg, trying his hardest not to to reach back. He knew that would only earn him more swats.
Soon, Obito’s upturned bum was a bright shade of red. Madara and Hashirama shared a look before silently nodding, both agreeing that it was time to move onto the final part of the spanking.
“Alright, Obito. We are almost finished.” Madara said, grabbing his belt and folding it before gently tapping it against the boy’s bottom.
Obito whimpered, kicking his legs wildly in response. “No! N-No no no no! Y-you don’t need to use that! I’ve learned my lesson!” He begged helplessly.
Madara put one of his legs over both of Obito’s, pinning them down. “I decide when I think you've learned your lesson, young man. You do not.” He said over Obito’s crying.
Madara gently ran a hand through Obito’s hair, resting it there for a moment. The man was serious, but he wasn’t heartless. Obito sobbed, going limp over the man’s lap.
The poor boy didn’t have any more fight left in him. The stubbornness had been spanked right out of him, and all he could do was lay there and wait for it to be finished.
“We’re almost through, son.” Madara said in a softer tone. Then, he lifted the belt and landed it with a slap across Obito’s backside. As expected, Obito hollered.
Madara continued to land the belt, lifting his leg and making sure he covered Obito’s upper thighs and undercurve as well. He wanted to make sure Obito would be squirming in his seat for a little while.
If a sore bottom was the only way Obito would remember to behave, Madara would give it to him.
SMACK SMACK SMACK SMACK SMACK!
Hashirama winced at the loud smacks and the corresponding wailing, forcing himself to ignore his fatherly instincts to just scoop Obito up in his arms and snuggle him until it was all better.
He knew that Madara had to make this spanking a hard and memorable one so they wouldn’t have this conversation again, though. So, he forced himself to be strong.
After landing a few more well placed swats, Madara set the belt aside and swiftly scooped the heavily crying boy up onto his lap. He gently rubbed Obito’s back as he sobbed into his chest, letting him be as loud as he wanted to.
“It’s alright, son. You’re alright. It’s over now. You’re forgiven.” Madara whispered, soothingly stroking the boy’s hair. Obito completely relaxed against his father, soaking up all of the comfort he was being showered with.
After allowing them their much needed alone time to cuddle, Hashirama joined in on the comfort, taking a seat next to them and wrapping his arms around them both.
“It’s okay, sweetheart. It’s okay…” Hashirama cooed, placing a soft kiss to Obito’s forehead as he bawled against Madara’s shirt. The twelve year old clung to his father as if he’d disappear once he let go.
That had to have been one of the most painful spankings he had ever received, and he was sure he’d be feeling it for days to come.
The small family stayed like that for a while, Madara and Hashirama showering their precious little one with sweet nothings and gentle comfort.
Before they knew it, Obito’s sobs had died down to sniffles and the occasional hiccup.
Madara gently cupped the boy’s cheek, looking him in his wet eyes.
“You are very important to us, baby boy. We care a lot about your future. I don’t want you to be comfortable with putting your education second and sneaking out when things aren’t going your way.” Madara explained, his tone patient and calm.
Obito nodded. “I understand, Pa.” He said quietly. Obito was always quieter and more clingy after a spanking. Madara’s eyes softened, placing a kiss on the same spot Hashirama had.
“You know we love you, right?” Madara asked. Obito nodded softly. “Yeah, I know.” He said truthfully.
Obito stood to his feet, grimacing as he tugged his boxers up. He walked over to his dresser and grabbed some pajama pants, finding them much more comfortable than the pants he had been wearing.
After he had done this, he found himself wrapped in another pair of arms yet again. Groaning, Obito rolled his eyes.
“Daaad, come on! It wasn’t that bad…” He said, discreetly reaching back and giving his bottom a tender rub. Hashirama and Madara chuckled fondly at their son’s stubbornness.
They continued to hug him for longer than any of them could remember, all of them just enjoying each other’s company.
For the rest of the day, Obito finished up the schoolwork he had been missing, promising to make up any missed assignments from today. He squirmed whenever he sat down, making for quite a painful experience.
The next day at school, Kakashi returned. He looked and felt much healthier, no longer sneezing and coughing like he had been beforehand.
Obito was relieved, though he wouldn’t tell his rival turned best friend that.
“Hey, Obito. Thanks for the soup, it tasted great.” Kakashi said as he took his seat next to the boy. Obito lifted a confused eyebrow.
“Soup?” He asked. He never got a chance to actually buy the soup, so what the hell was Kakashi talking about?
“Yeah, that soup you bought me. I got your ‘get well soon’ message, too. I guess you really did miss me after all, huh?” Kakashi smirked.
Obito scoffed, rolling his eyes. “Oh, shut up!” He exclaimed halfheartedly.
Obito looked over at Minato, who had overheard their conversation. The blonde gave his student a knowing smile, winking to confirm his suspicions.
Obito smiled softly, nodding his thanks in appreciation at the man for buying Kakashi the soup on his behalf. Minato was his favorite teacher he ever had by far, and Kakashi was never going to let him live this down.
Obito would pretend to not be okay with it, though deep down inside, he was happy that his best friend was back. He missed messing with him and bickering back and forth with him.
Although he wouldn’t admit it out loud either, Kakashi felt the exact same way.
