Chapter Text
"Hey, Kusuo! let's play Rock Paper Scissors!"
Oh brother... I thought, as my annoying brother ran toward me. He's pathetic, constantly nagging me to play games with him.
i know you're going to play paper, idiot.
"Damn, you won! 615 losses, 0 wins. I'll get you next time." Kusuke smiled at me like he was plotting something and ran off toward our mom. He graduated early, at 14, and got accepted into a college in London, which is where we are now. My mom wanted to check out the area and make sure it was safe before he moved here.
"Aww, I still can't believe our little Ku is all grown up! Can you, dear?" Our mother yelled out, teary-eyed, to our dad.
"I really can't sweetheart, not at all! Sometimes I wake up in the morning and need to convince myself I’m not dreaming, because there’s no way my poor, little, baby boy had actually graduated!”
"Aww, mom, it'll be fine," Kusuke cut in, then turning to face Dad."And Dad, maybe you should lower your voice a bit..."
Dad's face went sour after he heard Kusuke's threat, then turned and ducked behind me.
"Protect me, Kusuo!" he shouted. I rolled my eyes as my father ducked behind his 10-year-old son in fear of his 14-year-old.
We were in a car headed to the hotel when i saw it. owls. hundreds of them, maybe even thousands, all headed in the same direction.
