Lily is sat on her sofa with the TV turned on, she is watching Adventure Time and has her hand on the remote. She is smiling when suddenly a phone notification alert pings, and the noise can be heard throughout the room. Lily jumped a little and grabbed her phone from the sofa. She read the notification and her heart skipped a beat. She thought to herself, “It's today, I thought I had another week”
Lily looked back at the TV, then to the phone. She thought, “I’ll go to mum’s grave, but I’m not going alone” Lily then opened up WhatsApp and looked through her contact list. She found it, her dad, the god Hermes. Lily sent him a text asking if he would like to come visit mum’s grave today, and when he responded with “yes, I’ll be there right away”, Lily expected it to take a while for him to show up; he was far away after all, but then she heard a knock on her apartment door.
Lily turned the TV off and sat straight up. She was using the enhanced speed powers that she has due to being a child of Hermes. Lily rushed over to the door and opened it in a matter of seconds. Lily then said, “D-dad, welcome”
Hermes stepped into the apartment and took a look around he saw how messy it was and said the first thought to come to mind, “Your apartment looks like a dump, Lily ” Lily soon responded with, I-I’ll c-clean it e-eventually d-dad I-I’m just busy” Hermes rolled his eyes and said, “Busy playing video games or drawing?” Lily let out an awkward laugh and said “both” to him.
Lily then said, “I-i would like to b-buy mum some fl-flowers from the s-store but im not sure which ones to g-get” Hermes responded with “, I recommend buying white roses, those would look lovely on the grave” Lily nodded her head and said, “Yeah, let's go buy them” She then held onto Hermes's shoulder and said, “Sh-should I te-teleport us to the s-store or sh-should you te-teleport us there?”
Hermes said, “I’ll teleport us there, it’ll be more accurate if I do it” Lily said, “alright lets go” Hermes and Lily were gone in a white flash. Lily and Hermes soon teleported in front of the flower shop, and Lily walked inside with Hermes following behind.
There were many flowers, all of different kinds, and Lily and Hermes were surrounded by them on all sides. Lily's thoughts began to swirl. She thought to herself, “Will we even be able to find the roses? Or will we not? “ Lily then added, “If we can’t find the roses, then it will be a disaster ” She snapped out of her thoughts when Hermes said, “You’re overthinking things again, dear”, and Lily responded with “H-how could you t-tell?” Hermes then said, “Because you were doing that thousand-yard stare you do when you overthink “ Lily nodded her head slowly and said “, Right.”
Hermes and Lily walked towards the rose section of the store. There were many different kinds of roses, all of different colours. Hermes went over to the bouquet of white roses and grabbed them. He said, “Here they are, Lily, aren’t they wonderful?” Lily responded with “y-yes, Dad, t-they are nice”
Hermes and Lily went over to the self-checkout kiosk and paid for the roses. Lily then grabbed onto Hermes's shoulder, and they were gone in a flash. They appeared on a hill in a graveyard. There was a grave in front of them alone, it had some flowers on it and photos of Lily and Hermes and her mum on it.
Hermes handed Lily the flowers, and Lily placed them on the grave. She then said, “H-hello mum its been a-awhile hasn’t it?” Lily paused for a second as if waiting for a response that never came “S-So life has been go-going well. I have been g-growing my c-collection more, a-and I-I’m saving to go to j-japan next year” Lily then froze for a second, taking a long time to say what is coming next
“I j-just really w-want to say th-thank you f-for everything y-you did for me and that I-I love you”
Lily then said, “I’m sure d-dad has some th-things he’d like to s-say” Hermes then spoke up and said
“Yes, I do have some things I’d like to say. Everything in my life has been going swimmingly recently, even as the principal of Hemitheos Academy, you’d expect there to be trouble, but there have been no incidents recently, either. Hermes paused for a moment and said, “I’d have loved for you to be able to see the school this year “
Lily was a little surprised to hear that Hemitheos Academy has been going well. Her time there had been quite hectic. Lily said, “Th-thats a shock, Dad. When I-I was th-there, it seemed li-like there was drama ev-every other week”
Hermes responded with “when you were there their was a high number of art supplies being stolen” Lily nervously looked away and said “j-just because i-i stole things o-once or twice d-doesn’t mean it was always me” Hermes let out a laugh at that and he said “of course but you did always have new art supplies that I never brought you in your dorm room Lily ” Lily swallowed and said “right”
Lily then said “i-i think it’s t-time we go” Hermes nodded his head and place a hand on Lily shoulder he then activated his powers, and they teleported into the living room of Lily apartment. Hermes then said to Lily “Before I go, Lily, I have an offer I’d like to give you”
Lily then said, “W-what kind of offer?” she asked, and Hermes responded with “A job offer. You see the school is in need of a new janitor, and I thought you’d be perfect for the job” Lily shook her head and said, “N-no thanks, I’m doing fine on my own” Hermes then responded with “But you can’t live without a job forever. Sooner or later, you will need one” Lily shrugged her shoulders “w-well I-I will get one w-when I-I need it”
Hermes walked towards the exit door of Lily ’s apartment “well have some more time to think it over. I’ll be going now, I've got work to do” Lily waved Hermes goodbye as he left through the door and Lily said, “Bye, Dad.”
