Chapter Text
Twenty-six-year-old Emily Carter has spent her life feeling like a spectator. She works a dead-end office job, lives alone, and escapes reality through old records and grainy concert footage of her lifelong idol, Michael Jackson. While everyone else seems to be moving forward, Emily feels trapped in place, wondering if she missed the chance to become the person she was meant to be.
After a particularly devastating day, Emily returns home exhausted and passes out with one of Michael's records spinning in the background. But when she wakes, nothing is familiar.
It's 1979.
Not only has Emily somehow traveled back in time, but she's no longer herself. She's nineteen years old again—living as Emmy Hart, a rising child actress in Hollywood with a successful career, loving parents, and an entire life she doesn't remember living. Strange flashes of memories from Emmy's childhood begin mixing with Emily's own, blurring the line between who she was and who she's becoming.
As Emmy navigates red carpets, film sets, and a second chance at youth, she finds herself crossing paths with a teenage Michael Jackson just as his solo career is beginning to explode. Armed with decades of knowledge about the future, Emily knows the triumphs that await him—but she also knows the heartbreak, loneliness, and tragedies that history has written for him.
Determined not to waste this impossible second chance, Emily tries to change the future for both of them. But every choice she makes creates new consequences, and the more intertwined their lives become, the more she realizes that altering history may come at a devastating cost.
Because some futures are written in stone.
And some loves were never meant to survive time itself.
