Notebooks? What are notebooks?!

Summary:

Izuku is in deep shit, he really is. Somehow, he left his notebook on his desk, and when Nezu came to check on Aizawa after the school day, he found a treasure trove of knowledge in a notebook. But who could this notebook belong to? Asking the question of who’s seat this is, he finds out it's Midoriya’s. But will the greenette survive?

OR:

Nezu finds out about the genius that is Midoriya Izuku and decides then and there that that child is now his personal student, nobody else’s kid anymore, just his.

Notes:

Hey guys! I put up a poll in my discord server asking how many words I should write for a oneshot, and out of 1k, 2k, 3k, and 4k, for some reason they picked 4k… So, I hope you enjoy this kinda crack fic for my 1.5k subscriber special! I only started making podfics a few months ago back in January, and here we are, in may with 1.5k subscribers, but to be fair, I didn’t make podfics until I already had 1k subscribers. But the fact that I’ve gained 500 subscribers purely through podfics, is just astonishing to me.

I guess that I can’t really call myself a “small podficcer” anymore, with my sub count. But really, 500 just on podfics is crazy (as I don’t make edit anymore) I got the idea from a person in a discord server, who said they really liked fics where Nezu found out about Izuku’s notebooks, so here we are

Sorry if things feel weird, I wrote a lot of this while low on sleep, just waking up,or before I went to bed. The entire scene with nezu talking to izuku was written at like 2 in the morning and I didn’t feel like editing it so sorry if things feel off.

Also, story-wise, Nezu adopted Aizawa when he was 15 (Shota) and his parents were abusive due to his quirk. Timeline wise, this is the second day of school, and I had them already be at the dorms because why not. This is fanfiction after all.

Oh and the bit about the Clumpxophone, it's kind of like a funny inside joke with Rae_Of_Frost here on ao3, and I asked him to write the little monologue.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter Text

____________________________________________________________________________________

Izuku got to his dorm and then opened his backpack (which had been lighter than usual, but who was he to complain?) to see that there were only three notebooks. He was supposed to have four notebooks. Hoping to whatever god existed out there, he pulled them out to see he had his notebooks on class 1A, class 1B, and the LOV, it occurred to him that his missing notebook was his hero analysis notebook. Specifically, it was No. 19 missing, which contained all of his teachers and Nezu.

Knowing that many things could happen, he decided to retrace his steps. Going through the common room and the rest of the areas in the dorm he had been, he determined that the notebook was not at the dorms. Meaning that it was in the school And the school is completely fair game for a teacher, or worse, Nezu to find.

Trying not to jump to the worst conclusions, he walked throughout the same halls he had been in earlier, just in reverse. Still nothing. So that meant it was in the classroom. Which left three outcomes. A, it was just on his desk; B, Aizawa found it; and C, Nezu found it. But of course, with Izuku’s luck, Nzeu was the one who found it. The worst possible outcome was exactly what came upon him.

Now, the question was, would Nezu expel him for his wrong information and not putting it in code, or would he ask Izuku to become his personal Student

____________________________________________________________________________________

“Ah, Shota-kun, the school day has ended, why are you still here?” Nezu asked his protogé-turned-son.

“Because the hellions get out of here as soon as possible, allowing me to actually sleep.” The man replied, trying his best to use a voice that basically screamed to ‘go away’.

“Well, I just came to do my daily check-in, so I will be leaving,” The chimera turned towards the back of the classroom, just to see that instead of nothing, there was in fact a notebook, “but Shota, who does this notebook belong to? It’s seat 18, so you won't have to actually  get out of your sleeping bag.”

“Seat 18, huh. That must be Midoriya’s then. Just leave it on my desk, I’ll return it to the problem child when I inevitably return to the dorms, to make sure the hellspawn haven’t burned it down.” Aizawa responded, because he knew what the notebook could contain, so he knew it would be hell for him, the kid, and all of the staff if Nezu opened it.

“Ah, well,  I’ll just look through it-”

“No you fucking won’t,” Aizawa cut off Nezu, trying not to make the animalnot  intrested in the notebook. “that notebook is empty, there isn’t even his name on it yet. I’m sure you can tell that its brand new, non-opened, right?”

“Well, Shota, just because it may look new doesn’t mean there isn’t something there. I’ll just have a peek.” At this point, Nezu would have a new student.

‘Well, the entire school is fucked now.’ Shota thought, because with that problem-child as Nezu’s new student,  that child would become a vent gremlin, at least.

Nezu opened up the notebook, but only instead of it being empty like Shota had said, it was completely full of analysis on different heroes. Closing the notebook after reding his own page, he turned to talk to his son.

“Shota, why were you trying to hide Midoriya’s superb analysis from me? It is wonderful and completely accurate! He will be my personal student now!” Nezu chirped, both annoyed that this was trying to be hid from him, but also excited, for his new student of course.

Aizawa decided that it would be best if he convinced Nezu not to take in the kid, “Nezu-pa, you don’t even know if the kid will even say yes yet. What if he doesn’t even want to be your student?”

“Well, then we shall see, won’t we?”

____________________________________________________________________________________

At the end of the second week, it was officially time for the USJ. Aizawa was doing roll call now, because even though he did so before they even got on the bus, there was always a chance…

Going through the list, he got Midoriya's name and yet didn’t see the kid. He called out the teenager's name and heard him reply, so it was probably fine. Going into the USJ now that all of his students were accounted for, Thirteen started their usual lecture about how this was to practice rescue training, just the usual.

Looking around, weather in pure boredom, or just in case, he spotted some purple mist down in the center of the USJ, and out came people. Not just any people, but villains. Looking back, he made a mental list of his students, but this time, Midoriya was missing.

And then out came Midoriya, FROM A TREE. It had just opened up like a door, revealing the missing student. And he had his hero uniform, of course, but also a.. Crowbar? That wasn’t part of his costume or approved weapons, so where the HELL did he even get a crowbar?!

“Heya villains! I see you wanted to ruin my field trip,” The green haired boy started, “but, I have a low ground advantage and a CROWBAR.”

‘There’s problem-child,’ Aizawa thought, but then it clicked. He was Nezu’s personal student now. That was the Chimera's weapon against everything. ‘Damn that sadistic rat.’

Then, the kid disappeared again, and popped up near the center. HOW THE HELL DID HE EVEN DO THAT?! Oh no. That meant… the kid had vent access.

“Fuck!” Aizawa yelled, gaining the attention of his entire class.

“Aizawa-sensei? What's wrong, is it the villains?” Yaoyorozu asked, perplexed on what could’ve caused her teacher's reaction.

“No, worse. Much worse. Nezu has released his personal student.” Aizawa answered.

However, the girl still didn’t understand, “But sensei, the only person out there that isn;t a villain is Midoriya, is he…”

And it continued like that, Midoriya would hit a villain in the knee caps and then a robot would come over there and open a hole up, dropping the villain inside. For the more dangerous villains, there were autoturrets set to shoot if any of them moved.

“Since when are there autoturrets in my USJ?!” Thirteen asked.

“Since it was built!” Nezu’s voice rang out, showing that he knew exactly what was going on, and that they most definitely were not in danger anymore.

____________________________________________________________________________________

When Aizawa got back to his home that night, he sighed and flopped onto the couch, causing his husband, Hizashi to worry.

“Sho, are you okay? I’ve never seen you just hit the couch like that. Normally you just go straight to our room.” The normally loud blonde stated, but in his worry he was quieter than he typically was.

“Maybe? I mean, yes, I'm fine. But, Nezu unleashed his new personal student at the USJ today against the villains, and it was an experience, to say the least.” Aizawa answered, trying his best not to worry his husband.

“Oh? Since when did Nezu choose a new student, and who is it?” Hizashi asked, because how did the rat already have a student?! School had only been in session for two weeks!

“He chose a student last week, when he came and visited my classroom and saw a notebook. I’m sure that says enough.” Aizawa drew on, trying to sound bored, to try his best and convince himself that this was fine.

“A… Notebook? Wait a second… don't tell me,” Yamada pondered, and then made the realization, “oh no, it's Midoriya, isn’t it?”

Wow, you know your stuff!” Aizawa spoke, with the most sarcastic drawl possible.

“Shota, only one student in your class would be even smart enough to become his student, let alone because of a  notebook.” The older said, because apparently he wasn’t as smart as his husband.

“Now that you say that, you have me thinking,” Aizawa started, “I think I’m gonna let the other staff figure out that the gremlin has been released all on their own. Damn, it’ll be funny as hell when Nem finds out that the ‘cinnamon roll’ is actually Nezu’s student.”

“Sho, you sadistic bastard! But yeah, you’re right. Nem will likely freak out more than I freak out about bugs.” Hizashi commented, and then proceeded to give himself the shivvers just at the thought of bugs.

“It’ll be even funnier when he shows off his vent access, because I know that without a doubt the kid is already using the vents as his new form of transportation. But now that means that he’ll probably find our space in the vent system” Aizawa agreed, and then stated another piece of information.

Aizawa mentioned their space in the vents because the two had been Nezu’s students together in their second and third years. Part of the reason they ever got together is because of Nezu. The chimera has sensed that his Shota had a crush, but on a boy. And since the two had never really talked before, he took the kids on as personal students, which also gave them stable jobs straight out of high school, considering they  already knew how to run the school, if not take over for Nezu.

So they knew the kid had vent access, as it was one of the first things that they gained. Before Nemuri had learned about Aizawa’s status as an employee at UA right out of school, she offered him a job there, since she started working there the same year. She was surprised when she saw both him and Hizashi there, with their desks next to Nezu. When she found out that they were the assistant principals, and working on getting their teaching licences to be official teachers next year, she was flabbergasted.

But all that aside, it was time for the chaos that was known as Nezu’s student, Midoriya Izuku.

____________________________________________________________________________________

Aizawa entered the door to his class room after the weekend was over. It was now a Monday morning and he saw every student in their seats except Midoriya. That means the problem child was most likely in Nezu’s office, getting extra lessons as that kid was DEFINITELY not in his class anymore. Alas, his students didn’t know that yet. Which meant, he now had to explain that Izuku was no longer in class 1A but going to be an assistant principal by the end of the month.

“Five seconds, that's an improvement. But before I leave you guys to your own devices like normal, I would like to point out that Midoriya will no longer be a part of this class.” Aizawa stated, before he was rudely cut off.

“But Aizawa-senei! Midoriya has every right to be a class 1A student! Why would he have gotten expelled?” Iida exclaimed, because of course he did.

“If you would’ve let me continue, I would have said that he is now Nezu’s personal student, as seen at the USJ. This means that he will most likely be one of the assistant principals now. So Midoriya Izuku is no longer a student of class 1A. With that being said, please welcome Shinsou Hitoshi to class 1A as our new student.” Aizawa lazily drew on, because he shouldn’t have been interrupted.

“Welcome Shinsou! Your seat is behind Bakugou, as Midoriya is no longer part of this class and you will be taking his old seat and number. You are not seat No. 18.” Iida explained as part of his duties as class rep.

“Why did I decide to agree to this deal…” Shinsou mumbled in pure despair.

Now with the new member of class 1A, Izuku must be fine as Nezu’s student... Right?

____________________________________________________________________________________

“Nezu-sensei.. What do you mean I’m not in class 1A anymore?! Do I not get to be a hero?!” Izuku yelped out in pure panic at the news.

“No, no, no. You’re completely fine, you will still get to be a hero. You’re just not in a class anymore, not at all. It's because you are now my personal student and will be taking courses with me, but you will still join your old homeroom class during heroics. During your homeroom class you will report here unless I’ve told you to go somewhere else. And on Wednesdays you’ll sit in with class 1A to see if their situational awareness improves. You will tell me when they finally notice you, otherwise your goal during that time is to hide from them.” Nezu explained, because Izuku needed some sort of explanation of when the hell was going on.

“I also heard something about me becoming one of the assistant principals by the end of this month? I know you think I'm smart, but do you really think I’m even allowed to have that title without a hero license?” Izuku asked skeptically.

“Oh yes! You do need to have at least a provisional hero license but with my spies in the HPSC, that can be arranged for you to have by the end of tomorrow, even. And you are perfectly qualified! You have had the highest scores in all the tests and entrance exams in all the time of this school's existence!” Nezu exclaimed, out of pure joy, that his new protogé new things without even teaching them to him.

“Did I really? There's no way that I'm that smart, right? It can't be…” Midoriya mumbled in doubt.

“Dont discredit yourself! You are plenty smart!” Nezu chirped out at his self-doubting student.

But with the kid getting his provisional license, of course something had to go wrong.

____________________________________________________________________________________

While class 1A got to have their normal final exams, Izuku had to put together the matches for the teachers versus the students. His choice to put Nezu against Kaminari and Mina had been questioned by the chimera at first, but with the reasoning that it’ll make them try to actually  think hard enough to pass it was accepted.

And then, only after he had created ten total mashups of students vs. teachers, he had to have his exam right after. But instead of the normal one, he was already getting tested for his heroics license.

Now, how was he already allowed to take the exam? He had no clue, but Nezu worked in mysterious ways. The boy’s education had already not only been up  to par, but legions better than necessary. With Nezu’s classes, the kid learned at the pace that worked for him, allowing Izuku to get through all the material from all of the years he didn’t already know with a relatively fast speed.

With all of the knowledge done two months before the exam was to take place, he could take the rest of the time doing his physical training when he wasn’t doing extra work for Nezu. He was also able to work on his quirk with Nezu. Working on his quirk with an actual quirk counselor allowed him to have almost full mastery of One for All, having unlocked  all of the past users' quirks by the 2 week mark of learning how to properly use his quirk.

And like he had told bakugou, Izuku had made this borrowed power his own.

____________________________________________________________________________________

It was now the day of his final exam, and Izuku was extremely scared, because he would be taking a test that people typically didn’t take until they were 18, or 19 even though he was still 15. The other students had several more years of experience with training, internships, and even work studies.

Izuku felt in no way, shape, or form, prepared for this test. But if he didn’t pass, he could always just do remedial lessons and come back for the other exam in the fall. He was just a first year, after all. There would be several outcomes, but Izuku would probably fail, he was the youngest and least experienced in the entire group!

___________________________________________________________________________________

However, upon arrival, Izuku saw that there were no other students there to take this exam. It was just him. Nezu had set this up, hadn’t he? Of course he did. Well, if Nezu had set it up, he was pretty much guaranteed to get his license.

And just like he thought, Izuku did, in fact, get his license with ease. He was now a fully certified hero. He decided that his hero name would be Evergreen. He would always be around to help people, after all.

So now that he had gotten his license and class 1A had gotten through their final exams, it was now time to go to the mall in preparation for camp!

____________________________________________________________________________________

Once the group had gotten to the mall, they  split up into small groups based on what they needed to get. Everyone got into groups of mostly two or three people, but of course, Izuku got left alone. So in his wisdom, he decided to call Nezu.

“Uh Nezu-sensei? The rest of class 1A left me alone at the mall and i’ve been told that i’m a hazard to society that should never be alone so could you help?” Izuku called after Nezu picked up his phone.

“Of course, my chaos bean!” Nezu replied, already on his way to the mall in his self-driving car.

Once Nezu arrived, he quickly met up with Izuku so that the kid wouldn’t be alone. But when Nezu found the boy, he was sitting in a corner.. With someone? Looking closer, he noticed that the person had light blue shaggy hair. Shigaraki. Izuku was sitting next to Shigaraki. Shigaraki had his arm around Izuku’s neck.

Stepping in, Nezu called out to the pair, “Hello, Shigaraki Tomura, I see you have found my pup. I would prefer it if you let him go. He is a fully licensed hero and as such, he has every right to attack you right now.”

“Ah, yes. Perfect little hero brat and his leader. Here  to ruin my master plan. You know, If i hadn’t sighted this child, the entire mall would be dusted by now. Every civilian dead.” Shikaragi  said, trying to  prove that he was actually a threat, and not playing around.

“Well, shigaraki, with two heroes right here, and a full class of twenty heroes in training, we can very easily arrest you, so what will it be?” Nezu stated.

“What if I told you my story isn’t as simple as it seems? Its not all black and which you know…” Shigaraki countered.

What felt like an endless back-and-forth banter kept going on and on, adding more details until nezu and Iz-no, he was Evergreen in this situation, knew just as much about Shigaraki as the man himself did. So instead of arresting him on the spot, they took him to the police station and got his story verified by Tsukauchi’s quirk; Allowing shigaraki to get placed in a villain reform program.

Now with shigaraki sorted out, time to figure out the rest of the league!

____________________________________________________________________________________

“Alright!” A member of the Wild WIld Pussycats said, Mandalay, If Izuku remembered correctly. Although he had done lots of research on heroes, his focus wasn’t really rescue heroes or teams. Most of the ones he had researched were independent, or ones he had seen in the street and had decided he wanted to learn about.

“Welcome to your summer training camp!” Mandalay said, although she was looking suspiciously giddy.

The group of teenagers had just gotten off the bus for a ‘pit stop’ but seeing as they were on a cliff in front of the forest, Midoriya immediately raised his guard. It was then that one of the Pro-Heroes, Pixie-Bob used her quirk and launched the group of students off of the clif. But since Midoriya had seen something like this happening, he activated float (because he’s like a wizard with how fast he figured out One For All) and avoided getting hurt.

He launched himself to camp using a combination of float and blackwip, and even beat the pros there!

____________________________________________________________________________________

The group of teenagers known as classes 1A and 1B +Izuku had been training their quirks hard, doing extremely intense training. But as a side part of Izuku’s, one of his tasks was to create the exercises for the other students. His classmates weren’t the happiest campers when they found out that the torturous exercise they were doing were created by their ex-classmate. The Betraya.

But after three full days of training all day, there was said to be a fun “test of courage” for the students. It was mandatory for all except those who failed the provisional license exam (ie. Bakugou and Todoroki) to participate in the test of courage. This led to 39 total students scattered throughout the  forest. What could possibly go wrong?

Everything. The answer was EVERYTHING. So first, the students got separated alone in a forest. Fine, right? WRONG. But, Izuku had been learning under Nezu, so of course everything got handled swiftly enough.

Throughout the experience, class 1A learned that Izuku was an absolute CHAOS GREMLIN who even God themself feared.

Boy, those villains were in for hell.

____________________________________________________________________________________

“Ooh hey! It's a fire villain, good thing I have a… FIRE EXTINGUISHER!” Izuku yelled out, startling everyone in the near area, including aizawa.

Aizawa, upon hearing his old student say those words, looked up and immediately had regrets, “Problem-child! No pro hero here has given you  permission to fight, you are actively breaking the law and being a vigilante.”

“Oh, sensei, you are totally wrong! Nezu made sure that I got my hero license last week. So now I’m The Chaos Hero: Evergreen!” The kid yelled back in response.

“The rat did what?!” Aizawa exclaimed, as Nezu had NOT informed him that he was chaperoning two full classes, and apparently a teenage pro-hero. It’s not like he had any doubts that the kid was ready, (USJ had proved that) but he was just 16, and almost 2 years away from the usual age people became pro heroes. At least he wasn’t being sent to war.

“Oh, yeah. Nezu is actually more of a Stoat, or a Chimera than a rat. But yeah, I became an officially licensed pro hero last week, I thought Nezu had told the other staff. I’m also like his personal assistant too? I don’t really get it, but I’m sure you know what I mean.” Izuku rambled on, while using the fire extinguisher on Dabi.

Aizawa, In fact, did not understand what the kid had meant, but that was a problem for another day. What he was worried about at the moment was his other students. His students only had their provisional licenses. (well, most of them) So he ran off and went to find Mandalay.

“Mandalay, I need you to get a message out to all of the students. They are allowed to use their quirks to fight back if attacked first, but only in self defense. I also want them to all come back to base camp.” He rushed out, trying his best to make sure that the woman could understand him well enough.

Mandalay then relayed the message, also sending out another tidbit to tell Kota to come back to cam, as well.

Now, Izuku with all of the chaos in his being, decided that using a fire extinguisher on Dabi wasn’t enough, so he went around to all of the other villains scattered around the campground and fought back.

For Mustard, he used a sleeping gas similar to that of Midnight. For Toga, he pulled out knives from his suit and the two fought hand-to-hand combat with their knives, but it eventually ended up in Izuku winning, allowing him to incapacitate the girl.

Then, at the information that Kota was still missing, he went out of search and found him up n the mountains with Muscular. And interrupting whatever was going on there, he hit muscular away and made sure he couldn’t do anything before bringing Kota back to camp. Now that he had secured all of the villains he knew about, he went on a short patrol around the site looking for all of the students that got scattered around.

On his way back, he collected about hal of class 1A and half of class 1B equalling around 20 students. Using blackwhip, he was able to carry all of them in one single trip however. They did still think that he was a student, just like them until they got back to camp and Aizawa called out.

“Evergreen, I see that you have collected both students from my class, and also Vlad’s. Hellspawn, don’t forget to thank Evergreen.”

“Thank evergreen?” A student called out, not knowing who that was.

“Yes, thank Evergreen as he was the pro-hero to come and collect you problem-children and bring you back to camp." Aizawa said in a response to the confusion.

“But, Sensei, with all due respect, Midoriya saved us?” Iida questioned.

“Yes, the person behind the hero persona may be Midoriya, but he is now a certified pro hero, and you will treat him as such while on duty.” Aizawa answered calmly, even though he didn’t want to have to explain this again after already telling the students that were there before Evergreen went and saved the rest.

____________________________________________________________________________________

Izuku being the absolute genius that he was, quickly picked up new things. INcluding instruments

It was now time for the school cultural Festival, and class 1A +Izuku had decided to throw a concert to try and give Eri some happiness back into her life. This meant that the students would be playing instruments, singing, and even dancing.

“Midoriya? Is that a.. Clumpet???” Momo asked, because the instrument midoriya was holding looked like some sort of mix between a clarinet and a trumpet, maybe.

“A Clumpet? Really?!” Midoriya exclaimed in total shock, “This isn't a clumpet, it's a god damned Clumpxophone! It's clearly a Clumpxophone! Look here at its neck, it's curved like a saxophone!” he gestured wildly at the instrument's neck. “The mouthpiece and bell of a trumpet, the body of a clarinet, and the neck of a saxophone. The keys are a unique blend of clarinet and saxophone too! It's a Clumpxophone!”

The fact that nobody could just understand that Izuku played the Clumpxophone made him mad, as it was just so simple!

Well, with that aside, class 1A +Izuku went to perform at the cultural festival.

____________________________________________________________________________________

Why did he have to be such a god damn trouble magnet?! The kid was a fully licensed hero at the age of 16, YET the child was getting hunted by villains. AGAIN! Aizawa was just exasperated, and so close to giving up on even trying to keep track of the child. But for gods sake, Evergreen was just a kid!

But while getting chased by villains, AIZAWA FOUND OUT THAT THE DUMBASS WAS HOMELESS. WHAT THE FUCK PROBLEM CHILD!

____________________________________________________________________________________

Next on things aizawa learned, the kid was dating someone?!

AND CREATED A CULT!

AND FUCKING HELPED THE SUPPORT COURSE’S UNDERGROUND RING.

WHAT THE FUCK PROBLEM CHILD.

____________________________________________________________________________________

Aizawa just kept learning stupid shit about the problem child, and apparently the kid’s boyfriend was Shinsou. How that happened, Aizawa would never know. But he also didn’t think he wanted to know.

But with Izuku doing stupid shit every single week, Aizawa gave up. It just wasn’t worth it anymore.
