Love?

Summary:

In the second phase of the Chunin Exams, every move has a motive. Jokirama thought he was just taking an easy opportunity to secure the Earth scroll he needed. Instead, he finds the wrong scroll and accidentally picks up a very confused admirer.

Work Text:

"Kage Bunshin no Jutsu!" the raven-haired boy called out, forming the necessary hand seal. In an instant, three copies of himself appeared, all with their Sharingan activated.

"You know what to do," he told them. The clones gave a quick nod before vanishing into the trees in search of the scrolls.

Suddenly, a girl's scream pierced through the distance.

"Help!" The voice was frantic. Driven by sheer curiosity, he decided to investigate and see what all the fuss was about. "Please, somebody come help me!"

When he arrived, he found a young girl with cherry-blossom hair sprawled on the ground, cornered by a massive boar. She was nursing a wound on her leg, pure terror reflecting in her eyes. However, Jokirama's interest wasn't exactly innocent; he just wanted to know which scroll she was carrying.

He stepped smoothly in front of her, his hands flying through the sequence for a Katon jutsu. The girl's eyes widened in awe, a furious blush dusting her cheeks as the raven-haired boy drew in a deep breath and exhaled forcefully. A massive wave of flames erupted from his lips, sending the frightened beast running for its life.

With the boar out of the picture, Jokirama spun on his heel, crouched down, and pressed the cold edge of a kunai against the girl's throat.

"Which scroll do you have?" he demanded, his voice firm.

"E-Earth..." she stammered, trembling with fear.

"How convenient," he scoffed, pulling the blade away from her neck and slipping the weapon back into his pouch. "See ya."

Without another word, Jokirama swiftly turned and walked away. The girl stared after him as she struggled to her feet, dusting the dirt off her clothes.

"He's... he's incredible," she murmured to herself. She was still reeling from the shock, but mixed within it was a strange new feeling of... admiration for the ninja who had just saved her.
