Life lessons

Summary:

Joki knows two things for certain: written exams are a pain, and Obito Uchiha is an idiot. When Obito tries to use the Sharingan to copy his answers, Joki takes matters into his own hands. After all, what are teammates for if not to build character?

Work Text:

Joki sat at his desk during the written exam, carefully reading over his test questions. Most of them were a breeze for him; others, he simply had no clue about.

"Damn it..." he muttered, furrowing his brows as he gripped the test paper with both hands.

Line B on the diagram indicates the trajectory of a shuriken thrown at enemy C by ninja A, seated at the top of a seven-meter-tall tree. Describe and formulate the required trajectory if C were placed at points D, E, and F. Also, describe the maximum range of the shuriken and explain how you arrived at your answer.

He glanced around, searching for inspiration or at least a distraction. His eyes landed on Yuu, his teammate, who was chewing on the end of her pencil, clearly struggling. It didn't surprise him; though she was smarter than Obito, so he didn't doubt she would still pull off a decent grade.

Looking away, he noticed the ever-insecure Obito. He looked incredibly focused, but Joki knew damn well that deep down, he didn't understand a single thing. He thought about tossing him a piece of paper with a few answers, but then remembered that Obito possessed the Sharingan too—he would quickly realize he could just copy off someone else with ease.

Suddenly, he felt a gaze burning into him. Oh, you've got to be kidding me, he thought, realizing that Obito was trying to cheat off his paper.

With a quick, discreet motion, he scribbled on a small blank space: "Figure it out yourself, idiot." He knew the other boy would copy the exact message.

Obito's face scrunched up into a scowl as he read it.

Joki smirked to himself, satisfied. He turned his focus back to the exam, confident that his own knowledge would be enough to get him a good grade. Meanwhile, Obito would just have to find a way to manage on his own.

Just another day giving out excellent life lessons.
