Work Text:

It was just a patrol. It had been just a patrol.

They were in Wilds Hyrule.

Wind and Twilight had gone out on a patrol and everything had been going smoothly.

That was until a group of monsters ambushed them. At first it wasn't anything they couldn't handle…until they realized these monsters were black-blooded.

“Oh come on…” Twilight huffed.

Wind dodged a club from a bokoblin, turning back to give it good gash.

“How are we gonna win this Twi?” The sailor huffed.

“I ain't-” Twilight cut himself off as he jumped back, just out of reach of a moblins spear.

“I ain't too sure.” He huffed.

Wind had been holding his own…keyword; had

A moblin had flung his sword out of his hand, as well as his shield. “Shit!” Wind yelped.

“Wind! Run, go get the others!”

And that's the last thing Wind heard before he took off, running through the woods.

He ran and ran, taking not even a single moment to catch his breath.

That was up until he tripped on a tree root. He hit the ground hard, knees and hands scraped.

What's worse was that part of a boulder was sticking up from the group…that part was sharp.

Wind landed on it. It cut his leg open, not extremely deep but it still hurt like hell…

He let out a groan and clutched his leg, “Goddess that hurts…”

He tried to stand but immediately fell, he could hardly put weight on his leg.

It couldn't get worse than this…right…?

He heard a monster, it must've followed him.

Wind stood up but putting weight on his leg was quite difficult, let alone trying to run.

He let out a whimper and looked around, trying to find a place to hide. If he could hide then maybe he'd be ok.

Twilight would find him and everything would be ok.

Stumbling over to a tree, he hid behind it. He did his best to keep quiet but it was hard when the pain in his leg made him want to cry.

Wind shut his eyes and attempted to make zero noise.

He could hear the monster on the trail…

That's when his eyes shot open.

Now, monsters weren't exactly smart, not by a long shot.

But they can smell blood. They can track you by blood you spill.

Wind looked down at his leg and the blood seeping out of it and bit back a whimper.

Without warning, a bokoblin pounced on him.

He let out a yelp of surprise but it quickly turned into fear and pained when the monster clamped down on his wrist.

Tears streamed down his face as the monster's claws dug into his legs.

“Gngh-! Get off!” He shouted.

He let out a sob as he tried to push the monster off of him.

“Get off!!”

And then suddenly…it all stopped.

Wind opened his eyes when he heard a growl and saw a wolf standing in front of him, facing down the monster.

It was Twilight! He let out a shaky breath of relief and a whimper followed.

Twilight pounced on the monster, biting and scratching at it until it was no more.

The wolf padded over to Wind quickly, nosing at his shoulder to make sure he was awake.

Once he had made sure of it, he turned back to Hylian.

“Oh buddy…” Twilight sighed and opened his pouch, taking out a roll of bandages, “this is probably gonna hurt a little.” He warned before starting.

Wind bit back a pained noise.

“Sorry…” Twilight said.

Finally done, he scooped Wind up into his arms. The sailor let out a trembling breath and buried his face into the rancher's shoulder.

He gripped the fabric of his tunic.

“Ok, let's get you back to camp.”

“Are-Are we far?” Wind asked.

“No, we aren't very far from camp buddy.”

The moment they stepped into camp, they were immediately surrounded by everyone asking questions.

“What happened?”

“Are you ok?”

“How bad is it?”

Luckily, Time shooed them all away. “Alright, alright go sit down.”

Hyrule and Warriors already had medical supplies, however, Wind refused to let go of Twilight. The man had to peel one of his hands off so they could treat the injury on his wrist.

This didn't surprise anyone though…whenever Wind got hurt, he usually clung to one person if he had been hurt badly.

This time? It was Twilight's turn.

Wind let out a pained noise as the disinfectant hit the wounds. But they pulled away and rebandaged the wounds…

His wrist on the other hand was a different matter…Hyrule sent Twilight a look, he had to stitch up the wound.

“Wind…this is gonna hurt.” Hyrule warned before he started.

Wind immediately jerked and let out a choked noise.

“Twilight, hold him still.” Warriors said.

The sailor buried his face into the rancher's chest as his hold tightened.

“Please-” Wind choked out. “-it hurts.”

“I know I know…it's ok seabird.” Twilight said in a gentle tone.

By the time they were done, everything cleaned and bandaged, Wind had exhausted himself. He let out a huff and curled up where he sat.

Twilight stood up with a sigh, Wind in his arms, and walked over his bedroll before sitting down.

Wind let out a whine and curled up further. Twilight gently shushed him and turned back to Wolfie, he assumed fur and fluffy would be more comfortable.

Curling up around the boy, Twilight heard him let out a contented sigh.

Wind buried his face in his fur.

He then looked up and his gaze landed on Warriors, he reached his hands out in a silent question.

The captain rolled his eyes, pretending to be annoyed. He knew exactly what the boy was asking for.

He walked over, taking off his scarf and handing it over to Wind who grabbed it instantly and wrapped himself up with the cloth before settling back down with Twilight.

Wind let out a contented sigh, feeling safe and warm with all his brothers around him.
