Chapter Text

"I hope Mapicc isn't angry anymore about the fight we had yesterday..." Spoke murmured to himself.

Spoke was one of the students of a school called "Unstable high", together with his friends. Jumper and Mapicc were probably his closest of all, especially Mapicc, with him being his best friend. He had been by Spoke's side for basically his entire life, ever since the very first day of elementary school when they first met. Both of them have never felt alone since that day.

But sometimes, like in every friendship there is, they had an argument. It has happened a few times already, but this one was a little more heated than the usual arguments they both had.

Yet Spoke dismissed it at first. He was sure Mapicc would forgive and forget after a day and everything would go back to normal like it always did, but something quite unexpected had come into the way, JamatoP.

Jamato was talking with Mapicc, even though Spoke had told Mapicc not to talk to him. Mapicc knows Spoke doesn't have good ties with him, and they both hate each other. So why was he hanging out with him?

As Spoke turned around the corner of the school halls, searching for Mapicc to apologize, confusion flooded over his face once he saw his best friend talking with his enemy.

"Why is Mapicc with him...?" He whispers to himself so quietly that there is no way someone else could hear him.

"I told him to stay away from Jamato... I'll go confront him."

Spoke didn't hesitate a little bit to go up to the both of them and have a talk.

"Mapicc! Why are you hanging out with *him* out of all?!?" He huffed, pointing at JamatoP.

But Mapicc wasn't feeling it. "Why can't I hang out with him?"

"Cause— "

"Just stop."

"W-what?"

"I'm done Spoke." Mapicc declared. "You never listen to me at all!"

"But—"

"Jamato told me what you did."

He stepped back out of shock. What does Mapicc mean? Spoke can't think of a single time that he has done something to him, except maybe sometimes, but nothing that would be worthy being mad at for longer than a few days. What did Jamato tell Mapicc about him?

"How you always manipulate me, and I don't like that."

"Manipulating you, are you serious?!? We have been friends for almost 10 years, and you think I'm manipulating you? You think I—"

"This friendship is over" were the last words Mapicc said before leaving both of them.

Spoke didn't want to let him leave, he couldn't. He just wanted to talk with him alone so they could talk it out.

Mapicc felt a pull on his hoodie. "But— Wait!"

Spoke was left speechless when Mapicc loosened his grasp and threw Spokes hand from his clothes and went away, leaving him alone with Jamato.

"What did you tell him, Jamato..?! You can't just—"

"Oh Spoke... I told you one day I would leave you with nothing, right?"

...

Spoke did remember. He knows that he has done something messed up to Jamato before. That Jamato was mad at him. The tension between them, and how they stared into each others' eyes, was tense. One looked at the other with shock and disgust, but Jamato at Spoke with a knowing look. He knows Spokes strengths and weaknesses, what he can use to make him behave or destroy his life. Jamato has everything in his hands.

Jamato was Spokes best friend once too. They were a good team, just like Spoke and Mapicc, if nothing else happens.

"This is just the start." Jamato grinned as he said that. He steps up further to Spoke, intimidating him more than he already is.

"What— what do you mean by that?"

"You'll see soon enough, Spoke." And with that, Jamato went away as well, now leaving Spoke alone in the hallway, except for the few students passing by.

"He— he isn't going to do that, right? He won't make my life a living hell... No bro, that guy doesn't have the guts to actually do it." He tries to comfort himself, to just ignore everything and pretend it never happened.

"After all we've been through.... Ugh— I hate this guy so fucking much! I should go tell Jumper, maybe she will believe me!"

So, once again, he goes onto the mission to find his friend. Spoke forgot which class she has now, so I guess he just needs to check everywhere in the school.

"Maybe she is at our classroom?" So Spoke decided to check it out, but he didn't find Jumper.

The Cafeteria was also one of Jumpers favorite places, but once again, he couldn't find her.

The art rooms? Locked. And no one was near them.

Geography classrooms? There were many people, but not Jumper. But he spotted one of Jumpers friends, Derapchu.

"Hey, hey, Derapchu!"

Derap immediately turned around when he heard Spoke's voice. But... he seemed reluctant? Why? They'd never actually talked, so why was he behaving like this?

"Yeah? What's up, Spoke?"

He didn't fully turn around, and also didn't look at him directly. His tone was one of aversion.

"Do you maybe know where Jumper is?"

"Uhh... she's at the science rooms around the corner together with Squiddo, why?"

"Thanks." Was the only thing you could here before he bursts to Jumper.

"HEY—! Answer my fuckass question at least!" Derapchu shouted back at him.

"Shit... She's talking to Squiddo..."

Looks like Spoke didn't hear something he should've known.

"Should I interrupt her...?" Spoke seemed to be deciding whether he would break them apart for a second to talk to her, or if it wasn't as important that he could just clear it up after school.

"Nevermind, I'll text her after school, I guess..."

Spoke spent most of the time alone. Suddenly no one wanted to talk to him.

What happened? Is Jamato really behind all of this?...

The hours didn't fly by like they usually do whenever he is with Mapicc. Time continued to stretch, the minutes feeling longer than ever.

The classes suddenly seemed harder than before. God, he was exhausted by the time he had come home.

"Hey Spoke, how was school?" Minutetech, Spoke's father, asked him.

"School was fine." His voice didn't reflect what he said. It was rather defeated and fragile. He tried not to look at him directly, not wanting to build eye contact with his father.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah."

"Well then." Minute didn't want to push Spoke to tell him anything, even if he knew something was wrong. "You wanna eat with me? I cooked some spaghetti carbonara."

"I'm not hungry right now, maybe later." And then Spoke went to his room, not letting his dad say anything about it.

"I should try contacting Jumper now, I hope she believes me..." But Spoke hesitated. What if she also dismisses him? I mean, she hasn't come up to him or talked to him in school once.

"Whatever... I'm sure she will. Okay, here goes Nothing!"

'Hey Jumper' he slowly typed out, before sending it.

Jumper was currently doing her homework, when she heard a notification.

"Spoke...? What does he want from me?" She questioned skeptically, but still decided to answer his text.

'What is it, Spoke?'

"Shit... she seems upset..." he muttered.

'Jamato told Mapicc some lies, and I need help...'

'Sorry, Spoke, I'm really busy with school activities. You know, prom is soon, and I'll need to do the planning.'

'But Mapicc said he didn't want to be friends anymore! Can't you help me a little?'

'Spoke, listen. This is YOUR problem. You shouldn't have fought with him in the first place' Then she put her phone away and continued to work.

Spoke started on the screen for a bit.

Fuck.

Did she also become aware of the lies? Does she think that it's real? God bro, he can't loose another friend.

"Oh wow... is that what she thinks? That it was my fault to begin with?" he asks.

"... Fine. I'll just do it without her."
