Chapter 1: Realization.

Chapter Text

Wifies final letter.

Its been a year, five months, and 13 days since his death—but whos really counting, certainly not Parrot.. right?

A lot has happened since the paragon, Parrot was king now! He has no time to properly grief over his friends, there is a kingdom waiting for his guidance.

A king who carries enough compassion for every player in his kingdom, yet none will remain for the avian beneath the crown.

After the short conversation he had with Shoebilly, Parrot began to wonder. Was he not fit to be king? Did he really need to be selfish in order to succeed in this server?

Its been a week since he had an encounter with Shoebilly, knowing Cindercrest was on their way to his kingdom Parrot had no choice but to buy materials from... Clownpierce. Not that he had any other choice, after all the man basically owned the nether and all of its resources! The last time he went didn't go as smoothly because, well.. He had to do what was best for the server and its people (Is what parrot believes to be the truth.)

_

The nether suffocatingly hot, making the Avians wings expand slightly to regulate the heat.
He was escorted to where the man dressed like a jester stood atop a ledge, looking into the distance at the approaching soldiers—trying to aura farm or something.

Parrot swallowed the lump in his throat before walking up and swiftly climbed onto the ledge, just a few dangerously close feet next to the guy that almost killed him for raiding the vault.

"Hello Parrot." Clownpierce began, his voice was eerily calm

"I knew we would meet again eventually."

The avian was on edge, his feathers puffed in defence purely off instinct.

"I came here to buy something from you, I have the funds for it." Parrot spoke calmly to match the others tone, though the hesitation couldnt be hidden.

"Well, what do you need-" The other questioned before being cut off.

"40 thousand TNT." He stated before Clown could finish his response

It was almost as if the temperature had dropped a few degrees in the space around them, a cold sweat formed at the back of the avians neck

"Look who came crawling back.." The jesters voice was so damn cocky, whatever fear Parrot had felt before instantly vanished and was replaced with annoyance

Parrot was drenched in sweat by the time they finished the transaction, he clearly was not built for environments like this. As for the payment, he was unfortunately charged 60K diamonds because Clown wanted to be petty and charged him for the damage's on the stupid vault—it was 6 months ago cant that guy let it go?!

The avian was walking away when he stopped in his tracks at the words spoken behind him.

"I think you might be more fit to be a jester than a king, parrot."

A clear provocation, but he had bigger matters at hand to care about ragebait—Cindercrest was arriving earlier than scheduled and he wasn't prepared yet, everything needed to be set up before Saparata arrived or else they would for sure lose.

Nothing went as planned.

Fortfeather was lost even with the trap they had set, it barely killed anyone other than their own troops. The blip was not something they were expecting, neither was merchant city turning against them.

Of course he knew that LAW and Merchant city vanguards wouldn't be 100% loyal to him after he blew up LAW's base and threatened Merchant cities leader..

"But if we join you, what makes you believe we won't end up like the legion of your army that just got slaughtered." Prince tetra exclaimed while hovering next to a lever that could blow Parrot and his two friends up at any given moment.

The avian stayed silent, even when Prince Tetra began counting down from 10—finally speaking when it struck 5. In all honestly he was trying to come up with something reassuring enough, something to prove he was worthy enough to be king and lead them to victory.

Parrot gave a speech which surprisingly worked.
He just needed them to win this silly war, some comforting words were enough. It's for the servers best interest after all, right?

It took ages and getting almost blown up before he regained Merchant cities vanguards, Theo wasn't of much help with the cockatiel's bad temper and the constant pestering.

______________________________________

He was back in his castle, sitting on a chair that seemed too large for his frame. Parrot was zoned out thinking about next steps when—

If we go for a direct full scale invasion after sending a distraction how badly would that turn out.. What would wifies do?

The avian snapped back to his senses after realizing what thought had just crossed his mind, after all the time that has passed not once has Parrot sat down to properly process each one of his friends deaths—something else about the server always averted his attention.

He finally realized how much it had been eating away at him, almost as if a heavy weight suddenly pressed down on his chest. Parrot didn't notice when Theo and Reina entered his room, both seeming hesitant after knocking for a bit to no answer.

He stared down at his desk intently, you could practically see the gears turning in his head.

"Parrot bro we've been calling you for like two minutes bro" Theo's voice was loud with a hint of annoyance that wouldn't last long

Parrot heard muffled talking, his vision was blurred as he tried to focus and think back on when everything had gone wrong.

He sacrificed everything for this server, his friends, his life, his rationality—yet only a handful of players truly appreciates him.

How come they like LettuceK more? What did he do right that I didn't?

I fixed spawn, I created food farms, I expanded the kingdom for more people to have housing, I fixed capital cities tax issues, what more could I do?

A hand suddenly landed on his shoulder, causing the avian to flinch and look up. Theo looked at him with a worried expression while Reina stood behind, she was worried but was definitely more mature than Theo to worry for the literal king of unstable

"Bro you good? I get if the wars too stressful you don't gotta push yourself" This might've been the most genuine thing the cockatiel has ever said, parrot could see how much it took for the other to muster up kind words.

Parrot stood up abruptly, the sound of the chair scrapping against the floor was all that filled the silent room while Parrot gathered his travel items

"Where are you going?" Reina spoke up, watching as the king that was supposed to be preparing a battle strategy was packing a bag and stretching out his wings

"Theres something I need to do, you two can hold down the fort for a few hours right?" He didn't look up at the two when he talked, busy preparing for a long flight

"I mean yeah I can, not sure about Reina though- She'd probably die in like two seconds" Theo joked, making mocking gestured at Reina before he got told to shut up by her

He opened the large window while holding a book and quill with what seemed like coordinates inside, he flipped to a page and examined the coords before sliding his goggles over his eyes

"Don't do anything stupid, if something extremely important is happening I set my stasis in the ceiling." Parrot turned his head over his shoulder as he spoke

"Reina will make the call of whether or not to pull it, Theo you stay far away unless Reina is unable to." He reprimanded just in case, knowing the cockatiel would pull it because of something insignificant

_

He had bid his farewells and was soaring steadily in the sky, the wind brushing past made him shiver.

The flight was going to be a long one, so he took the chance to rethink all his actions during the time he was on the server.

Over and over again had he tried to save the server from people like Ashswagg and..Wemmbu. Parrot still didnt understand why the people he considered to be his brothers had betrayed him, every time he is there to help them in any way he can and yet when he needs aid there is no one willing to stand by his side—everyone made that clear when they left him at district 13.

He just wanted to do what his morals told him, protect the players and the server.
Something Wifies said when they were in the Paragon rang in his mind,

"You put yourself in danger for causes that only exist in your head."
Parrot didn't believe those words back then, every time him and Wifies fought he thought the other was being unreasonable and unfair.

Now he understands.

He couldn't count the amount of times he has almost died just because he was trying to save this server, yet when he walks around his kingdom people spew insults and hurls things at him.

In all honesty, the avian was exhausted. Everyday new complaints would pile in and he would try his best to resolve them and yet you could never meet the end of the pile

it just feels like no mater what I do it'll never be enough.

It felt like forever before something began coming into view, a large obsidian wall began to render in.

"Lets get this over with.."
