It was a Sunday night, around 9:00 pm in the locker room of PXG, and it was anything but quiet. They had just won against Ubers, which made Charles remember when his boyfriend Niko played with them during the Neo Egoist league. They had gotten together after that match when PXG won 3-2.
Today though, he was strangely quiet, tired out after the game.
It had only been a week since he left Japan and to put it simply: he missed Niko. He missed his boyfriend sooooo much it felt like he was missing his other half. Not to mention, Shidou was also back in Japan so now he was really lonely.
Just to make things worse, Loki was nagging him about not taking the game seriously when he literally was !! There’s nothing more Charles would like to do than find Niko, complain about his day, and then fall asleep cuddling together. But of course he had to be 14,000 kilometers away.
He hurried and quickly got out of the changeroom, completely ignoring Loki’s yells for him to come back, and practically ran back home.
It was quiet when he finally reached his home, everyone already fast asleep. Charles went upstairs to take a quick shower, before hurrying to his room, settling down in his bed, and reaching for his phone.
He checked his phone and to his delight, he saw that Niko had texted him.

Niko -`♡´- : have an awesome game char !! i wish i was there to see you and i miss you sooo much

Niko -`♡´-: yes ofc just give me a minute
Charles ⚞^. .^⚟: OKAYY!
Charles was giddy with excitement, finally getting to hear Niko’s voice after what felt like ages.
When Niko called him, he immediately pressed the accept button
“HIII NIKOO!! I missed you soooo much.” Charles exclaimed.
Niko giggled and spoke softly, his voice laced with a hint of exhaustion “Hi char, i missed you too”
Charles thought he was in heaven. His laugh was heavenly, his voice was heavenly, especially when it was a bit rough from sleep and lingering exhaustion. This was perfect. Niko was perfect. He felt like the happiest man alive. Okay, maybe he was exaggerating, the only thing better than this would be to see Niko and feel his comforting presence beside him.
“How was your game?” Niko asked.
“It was fine, but it was surprisingly tiring. I was reminded of you from when you played with Ubers and I really missed having Shidou to pass to and play with.” Charles admitted. Not to mention Loki was also nagging me about “making stupid plays” and “not taking the game seriously” Charles said with annoyance clear in his tone. “I’m just annoyed.. You get me?”
“Don’t worry char. I do get you. I understand you completely. I’m sorry that Loki was bugging you again. I’m sure that you were trying your hardest!” Niko’s sentence was finished with a yawn, showing that he was still bleary from sleep.
“Are you tired mon cheri, I’m sorry I shouldn't have asked to call!” Charles started apologizing quickly.
“Don’t worry char i’m fine. Can you turn your camera on? I want to see your face…” Niko finished the last sentence shyly.
“Of course! But you need to turn yours on right now too. I've missed seeing your face as well.” Charles exclaimed. And boy, when Niko turned his camera on, time seemed to stop. He was beautiful. The screen was illuminating his face whereas everywhere else was dark. His hair was pushed out of his face with a headband, similar to the ones you used for skincare. It was adorable. It was green and had little antennas, resembling an alien. Plus, you could see his stunning and gorgeous teal eyes now that his bangs weren't covering them. Charles nearly fainted.
“Char? Are you okay? You’re staring…” Niko mumbled shyly.
“You look so beautiful, mon cheri.” Charles said with a stupid lovestruck expression on his face.
“Thank you char… you look awesome too.” Niko responded with his own shy smile. He saw Charle’s fang sticking out from his smile, his golden hair contrasting perfectly with the black tank top he was wearing. His one strand of hair was still curled, despite his hair being wet from the shower.
Niko was also admiring Charles trying to be subtle, but Charles noticed and smirked. “You like what you see mon amour ?” Niko’s face flushed red, and it was a sight Charles adored.
“Shut up char !” Niko exclaimed, visibly embarrassed.
“I’m not wrong though, no?” Charles teased him further before laughing, amused by his boyfriend’s reaction. “I’m just teasing you cheri, don’t worry”
“Whatever..” Niko mumbled softly, still embarrassed.
Their conversation flowed more comfortably after that, and they continued to talk until the lights in Blue Lock started to come on and Charles was getting visibly more tired, yawns cutting off his sentences. They parted their ways reluctantly and Niko had to end the call with haste after Barou started yelling at him to get up off his phone and go to training while also explaining the issues of being addicted to your phone and how he would never me a pro soccer player due to his actions
Charles laid in his bed for a couple more minutes, relishing the happiness that was still bubbling in his chest and laughing at the thought of Barou still chastising Niko for being on his phone.
He really did think he was the luckiest man on earth. He bagged a beauty who got him completely! No judgement, just complete understanding.
“This is how Shidou must feel with Sae..” He thought before settling in better into his bed and drifting off into a deep slumber.
He couldn't wait to see Niko again.
