The Exiled sat in zir chair at the edge of a sparkling lake in the Bard’s garden. Ze had come down from the top of the tower after being released from Exile. Ze had never felt the sun on zir face, only the blue light of a screen. The sun felt so warm, so different from the cool rain from the top of the tower. The light caressed zir face, holding zir features gently in its embrace. Ze thought ze would never feel this. Zir whole life had been in the cold rain, the only warmth on zir face from the small screen. Now the sun shone, birds sang, the water lapped at zir feet. Somewhere in the distance a Bard played a harp. Zir thought this must be what heaven is like. Happiness.
