The Waves Will Watch You Go

Summary:

One morning, she had left, and never returned.

Notes:

Prompt from realxeyez:
Geysir Nationale by Gregory and the Hawk

We went down to the shore
On a day that was warm
With the end of my fist
I thanked you for this

Over watch of the fields
And the feelings I've met
I could pray to the day
I haven't felt them yet

The waves will watch you go
The waves will watch you go
'Til you're gone
You come home no more

Work Text:

It had been a normal day, the last day Kerttu saw Jennie. One morning, she had left, and never returned. That was all. No last words, no goodbye. Just Kerttu waking up alone as she always did, for Jennie kept much earlier hours than she, then coming home to a house still empty. She had not worried so much then. It wasn’t by any means usual, but it had happened once or twice before. Then the second day dawned, and the third, and the fourth, and the fifth, and the sixth, and the seventh. Time kept passing without her. Somewhere along the way, in those bleak subsequent months so full of anguish, Kerttu gave up hope. Jennie was either dead or else had abandoned her. Either way, she had something to grieve. She’d miss her. That feeling was one that she didn’t think would ever stop.
