Chapter 1: Static Noise

Chapter Text

“Why are we here again?” Izuku looked up to the sweet smile on Ochako’s face. She brushed a strand of her hair behind her ear before speaking.

“Because you agreed,” she says, chuckling before grabbing Izuku’s wrist and pulling him through the already tight crowd. When they squeezed through to the front, the lights immediately turned off.

Everyone screamed, including Ochako. Izuku winced, blocking out the screaming. Colorful light poured out from the stage and that’s when Izuku began to look up.

Three guys walked on the stage and the screaming just got louder. A guy with red, spiky hair came up to the microphone while a blondish boy went to the drums. But the last boy just stood there, lifeless with a electric guitar slung around his shoulders.

Izuku’s eyes fixated on the boy, and multiple other people seemed that way too.

“What’s up everyone!” The red hair dude said. Ochako leaned in and said the name Kirishima. Izuku nodded before looking back.

“Okay okay, we hear you.” Kirishima laughed softly into the mic. The electric guitar boy scoffed, loud into his mic. Kirishima looked back and grinned, sharply. “There’s your guys favorite loner, Katsuki.” Everyone, everyone screamed, except Izuku, of course.

“Katsuki.” Izuku said quietly, the name slipping quickly off his tongue, and that created a short smirk on his face.

“Oh and Denki.” Kirishima looked back at the boy, Denki, at the drums. Denki waved excitedly and childish.

Kirishima got the screaming to calm down once Denki began to slap his drumsticks. It all started from there.

Kirishima sang, an angrier voice than how he spoke to the crowd, Denki slammed his drumsticks in a beat that Izuku didn’t understand, and Katsuki strammed his fingers again his electric guitar. His silver rings reflected every time he strummed.

Izuku watched Katsuki in admiration. Interest maybe, but Izuku knew how those loud notes hit his ears and how much he loved it. He imagined the possibilities he could have if he could play the guitar like Katsuki.

Once Kirishima sang his last note, Katsuki immediately unplugged his guitar before leaving without a trace. Kirishima shrugged it off like this was normal.

When outside, Ochako was squealing and squeezing Izuku’s shoulder, yapping about how amazing the concert was. Izuku kept nodding like he was listening, but he wouldn’t stop thinking about Katsuki.

“Izukuuu!” Ochako shook his shoulder. Izuku jumped before scratching his neck. Ochako groaned and began to walk in front of him before stopping

“Yes Ochako?” He tilts his head slightly.

“You keep silencing me out your mind.” She says, crossing her hands across her chest. She makes a small humph before pouting.

“Sorry,” he scratches his head. “I keep thinking about that Katsuki boy.” He chuckles softly, which was a bad idea because Ochako immediately gasped. She squeaked aswell, loudly, making everyone around them stare for a moment.

“You think he’s cute!” She pressed. Izuku widened his eyes before turning red. Ochako jumps up and down.

“I do not.” Izuku says shortly, pushing past her.

“You so do!” She quickly runs back up to him , slightly catching her breath.

“Okay maybe a little.” He smiles.

——————————————————

It all went downhill from there. Izuku became obsessed with the band. He learned every song in the span of a week.

And Ochako was supportive, atleast she tried to be before the last call she got from him saying he’s going to ‘learn’ one of their songs, Dusty Heart, on guitar.

Izuku always wanted to learn guitar, but he never had time, the money, or the patience to learn. But since that night when Ochako invited Izuku to the concert, everything changed.

Katsuki was so cool in Izuku’s mind, and other people’s mind aswell, but Izuku was obsessed with his skills. He was jealous, admired, and inspired by him in only a week.

Maybe Izuku was being a little dramatic, but atleast it gave Izuku the chance of maybe something amazing.

He went to the local music store, the one he’d been going to every day since the concert to find posters, CDs, etc for Static Noise.

Their were guitars around the store that you could use, even though it was a dumb idea, the guitars only got replaced once.

Even though it wasn’t an electric guitar like Katsuki used, it was Izuku’s best bet. He still didn’t have the money for an actual guitar, but him just playing some strings made Izuku feel confident.

He strummed the guitar, a tuned guitar, but Izuku somehow managed to created an annoying sound. He sighed.

“You’re holding it upside down.” A voice said from behind him. Izuku looked up and groaned. He couldn’t be more embarrassed than someone hearing the strum or holding the guitar wrong.

He turned around and blinked up at the mysterious voice. Then, he freezed. Katsuki was standing right in front of him. A baggy band tee matched with tight jeans and the same silver rings he had at the concert.

“Hello, you there?” He said, raising his eyebrows and stuffing his hands in his pockets. Izuku shook his head and stumbled his words.

“You’re—“

“Yeah.”

“Katsuki.”

“I know that.” He replied sluggish. It was a small reply, but it was funny. Izuku let out a a small laugh before shutting himself up.

Katsuki blew his ashy blonde hair from his face before turning around, slowly stepping off.

“Wait!” Izuku jumped up with the guitar in hand. Katsuki stopped in his tracks and turned around to the green, freckled boy standing close to him. Katsuki stepped back slightly.

“Yes?” He asked.

“Uh, hey.” Izuku replied stupidly. That made Katsuki part his lips before his lip lifted slightly up. Smiling slightly.

“What you know?” Katsuki takes his right hand out his pockets to point at the guitar. Izuku jumps back looking back down at the guitar.

“Oh you mean what can I play?” He asks. Katsuki nods. “Nothing.” Izuku replies selfishly. Katsuki has a full smirk on his face now.

“No one knows nothing.” He says. Izuku looks up at him then at the guitar before shaking his head.

“I seriously know nothing.”

“Strum a key.” Katsuki replies. Izuku bites his lip and stares directly into the guitars soul before shakily moving his hand down.

“You’re still holding it upside down.” Katsuki says. Izuku looks up, his green eyes reflecting from the sun. He blushes in embarrassment.

“I just started learning.” Izuku sighs.

“Thursday.”

“What?” Izuku asks Katsuki.

“Come Thursday, I’ll teach you some things.” Katsuki says. Izuku widens his eyes and basically drops the guitar, but Katsuki’s quick reaction catches it.

“Me? Like you’re asking me?” Izuku says in shock, watching Katsuki grab the guitar, positioning it in his arms.

“No shit, who else would I ask?” He strums a string. Beautifully, and Izuku then agrees right there just because of that gorgeous sound Katsuki made without any hesitation.
