(GNW) Murder Drones - In the Light of the Gray Star(ILGS)

Summary:

The storyline centers around two characters: Lexi, a WD-HD, and Markus, one of many humans living on this side of the galaxy, share a found family bond, having lived together since childhood.
Their intertwined story forms the heart of the narrative. While it's true that the focus is often on Lexi: Her identity, the mystery around her and her origins. It is just as much about Markus, As he helps Lexi in uncovering the truth about herself, he finds himself on a similar path, looking for answers to his own questions while gradually learning about the larger world alongside her.

During their journey through the gray world they live in, they are tested: both physically and mentally, alongside with their bond. They struggle not only to hold themselves together, but to keep each other too, not letting the world tear them apart. Together they push through each and every challenge the world throws at them.
They will be uncovering long-buried mysteries, secrets hidden for a good reason: About the world, the people within it, and the darker side of the Horizons: A side not many know.
Because this world is not simply in black, and white… It never was… And it never will be…

Notes:

DISCLAIME
If you are looking for a story that is similar or just like Murder drones, ILGS and any other potential storyline in GNW would probably not be for you then.
As they are essentially fully focused on OCs, almost none of our beloved members of the MD cast, with a few exceptions like Cyn. And even when DDs are on “screen”, they are gonna be faceless, with essentially no personality whatsoever.
ILGS in particular is also a far more slow burn and longer kind of storyline compared to Murder Drones, so expect a lot of reading to be done.

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

…After the Gala massacre, Cyn shortly set her plans of exterminating humanity in motion, unleashing tens of thousands of DDs upon the people of Earth.
This got everybody off guard. The humans not only didn’t know what’s going on, but they also didn’t know how to even deal with this threat that popped up out of nowhere. Though soon the military “force” that was stationed on the planet began to fight back, it became clear soon enough that they were not equipped to deal with the threat, only being able to distract them from their main goal…

…The News, even though they were held back by both the UHF(United Human Federation) and JCJenson, soon began to spread all across known human space. It became evident that Earth is in danger as more and more of humanity's little military force was directed to protect Earth from this, threat. But for many it became clear that it was a losing battle… And JCJenson knew that from almost the start…

“…As the sky became deep red and the sun seemed to get blocked out, a power beyond understanding struck down even harder than these demonic machines of death were…”

…After a few months of the terror that slowly engulfed Earth, something… Even more terrifying begin to unfold… As the earth below the feet of those still stranded on the planet begin to shake, and on two polar opposite sides of the planet begin to bend and sink inward. Just for it to, a day later, violently launch outward, beginning to rip the planet itself apart and killing every human and drone that still was on the planet…
…Those who saw it happen from orbit would feel both lucky and terrified, with one question:

“...What… Just happened…”

…The news of “The Fall of Earth” spread like wildfire, shaking the entirety of humanity from top to bottom… Then the news of those, things, still being alive and around, had sent a new wave of fear through humanity as they first appeared on Mars, and then on other planets in the Solar system, anywhere where humans were present, those things came after them…

…But humanity did not yet lose its fighting spirit, as a coalition had formed to stop this threat once and for all. The coalition was composed of the UHF itself, and a historically separatist faction named “The Horizons”, who were even before the formation of this coalition sent forces to Earth, though because of political reasons they were too late…

… Eventually, with Mars and the colonies established on the moons of Jupiter, were lost, the coalition eventually gave up on the Solar system all together. They had retreated, the forces of Horizon and a fair share of the UHF forces to Centauri, while the rest to the “Binary Systems”, beginning to fortify both systems' worlds for their arrival…

…Eventually, they came just as it was expected, first hitting the Centauri system, and its planet Proxima. At first things seem to be hopeful, thanks to the combined might of the stationed UHF and the smaller numbered but seemingly significantly more advanced Horizons fleet, which had formed a blockade, stopping the thousands upon thousands of pods entering the system… But they never stopped coming, and in fact, more and more of them came all at once. A month into it they were measured in the tens of thousands, and eventually more and more slipped through the cracks and made the planet fall. And as with the 6 blood soaked months of the “Centauri Campaign” had begun…

… Proxima, for a longer than expected, was held quite well, with each arriving pod being dealt with thanks to what was learned on Earth, and just how quickly the Horizons was adapting to them, also fielding a level of military technology which was never seen by a standard soldier of the UHF.

As more and more pods breached the blockade, the fight started to intensify and eventually almost got fully out of control, as eventually more and more cities were hit and eventually fell, and the casualties began to skyrocket… This time around however evacuations had already begun shortly after the first pods made the planet fall, as the Horizons seemingly foreseen the planets eventually falling just like Earth did, unlike the rest of the Coalition which became quite confident with them being able to stop most of the transport pods…
And as the fights went on, it became evident that they were right, and after 6 months, Cyn's eventual arrival and a failed attempt of trying to kill her directly, the planet was deemed lost, and was eventually destroyed just like Earth was…

… This loss alone hit the coalition hard, the Horizons alone lost tens of millions of personnel, which hit them harder as they were quite a bit smaller than the UHF, who suffered losses in the ten folds. The news of the Binary systems falling under these things control, Demons, as they begin to call them. But unlike Earth and Proxima, none of the planets were destroyed like those two were…

… As the years went by, more and more planets fell to Cyn, and the more planets fell and the more people died, the weaker the coalition itself became. Eventually the UHF had fallen completely apart, leaving only the Horizons and those who decided to stay in the Coalition. Which, as Copper-9, under mysterious circumstances, had suffered a partial core collapse that had whipped most life off from the face of the planet, has also fallen apart as well…

… From that point on, most of humanity either gave up altogether, went on the run into the unexplored regions of space where humans never set foot on, or went into hiding and hoping to never be found…

… But, even after all the death and loss humanity suffered, there were some who still believed, who still had hope… And the Horizons was still far from giving up, they had never been further from it than before… In the depths of space, the same thing that made them isolated and hard to learn about for mainstream humanity, now was hiding them from Cyn… And they will use this time to learn, adapt and prepare. They may be small, but they already proved to be far more capable than the UHF and JCJenson ever was. They have already pushed human technology to never-before-seen lengths, and now standing as the last real bastion of humanity, they will have to do it again…

So for decades they hidden themself away from Cyn, while still helping and rescuing those who willing to continue to fight, those who still have hope and the will to continue… Humans, and Drones a like…

… The year is now 3065, 25 years have passed since the “war” began. The Monsters and the other nightmarish creatures Cyn had terrorized most of humanity, all except the Horizons, being able to stay hidden, but even then the people were still able to feel the effects of the war. As the Horizon was still preparing, becoming stronger with each day, while also raising a new generation of Humans, and drones that were taken under the protection of the Horizons.

…One of these people was waiting for a new existing day to come…

...And soon…

…Is about to wake…

…Up…
