I have a constant fear you’ll leave and go,
After all, there are a multitude of reasons for you to do so.
I fear you’ll find somebody else instead,
Someone who’s more interesting, i dread.
I worry that I’m boring after all,
That once the novelty is gone, I’ll fall.
That every story told and joke I’ve made,
Will slowly lose their colour, they’ll start to fade.
When I speak too much, I feel regret,
As I know I’ve become a burden you might forget.
I’m too much to handle, not enough to keep,
So I lie awake with thoughts that never sleep.
And nothing that I do is ever quite enough,
No matter how much I change, I’m. never. enough.
I search for flaws in every word I say,
Certain they’ll be the thing that drives you away.
So I prepare for endings that aren’t yet near,
I live with loss before it even appears.
You haven’t left, yet still my heart knows,
That everyone I love will eventually go.
And that’s the hardest part for me to face:
Now I may be loved, but I’m easy to replace.
