The Newest Arrival

Summary:

A random girl has just graduated high school YIPPIE, but afterwards, a part of her mind ends up trapped in the amazing digital circus. When she enters, it's a dull and quiet place after the ringmaster, Caine, was accidently deleted. Will she adapt to this new life?

Notes:

BEFORE YOU CONTINUE, PLEASE READ

This is an OC(-ish) story that takes place right after Caine is deleted in episode 8 and continues on through episode 9.

I started writing this off of memory from watching episode 9 in theaters so there will be some errors in plot lines. This will get changed soon, but I am currently on a road trip where I don't have wifi for a majority of the day, so updates and new chapters will be coming later.

If you couldn't tell SPOILERS AHEAD FOR TADC EPISODE 9!!

Chapter Text

She had done it. The speeches were over, diplomas had been handed out, and was finally able to throw her cap into the air with hundreds of others. She felt so free. At last, it was over. But she knew a new chapter of her life was just beginning.

Her friends had decided to throw a grad party, just them, renting a cabin in the woods. They set up some streamers and balloons that said “Class of ‘17” and that was it, they didn't want to clean up too much after all.

On a walk through the thick forest, they took a wrong turn off the path and got extremely lost. Panicking, the girls headed after the only place that looked like it might have cell service. But they got too curious and chose to take a look inside the abandoned office building they stumbled upon. Something about the logo “C&A” seemed familiar to her, but she couldn't pinpoint what.

That's when one desk caught the three girls’ eyes. It had an old computer with a metal VR headset on it. Her and her friends’ curiosity got the better of them and she reached for the headset, the other 2 girls coming up with wild theories as she lifted the headset over her head. But when the headset came over her eyes, something changed, and not for the better.

Her friends giggling and rambling faded into static.

She was immediately overwhelmed by the blinding light surrounding her and the feeling of being physically flung forward.

Her mind felt like it was being torn in half. Not in a painful way, but in a way like when you disassociate and you don't feel like you are fully present.

All she could hear was the sound of her speeding through this void of light and a faint voice saying “Holy shit”.
