Whatever you do, you're not going to be enough.
The thought thrummed in his head as he watched Scott go on and on, telling him how longevity was the answer when it so clearly wasn't. Not if such a thing lead to people like Scott Goldsmith existing.
Whatever you do, you're not going to be enough.
Anger boiled in the doctor as Scott smirked at him and awaited a response that would no doubt send him into another long winded explanation full of lies. Legundo found himself reveling in the concept of Scott shutting up.
So, he threw out a punch instead. Scott simply moved his head to the side. "I didn't know you were that angry at me, Doctor." He idly moved his hands behind his back. "We're just having a civil conversation. No need for hasty violence, especially not from someone of your caliber." He hated how much Scott was right. Senseless violence felt unnatural coming from someone like him.
Felt unnatural. But he knew more than anyone that it was far more natural for him than most would think.
Whatever you do, you're not going to be enough.
Legundo threw out another punch that Scott simply stepped out of the way for before pulling out his sword. "I don't think a conversation with you has ever been civil." He slashed out his sword and with each movement he could feel the exhaustion that laced his bones. Scott moved out of the way again, rolling his eyes slightly.
"Perhaps we just need to talk more then, Doctor. What would you like to know about me?" Slash. Step. Slash. Step. It was like a never ending dance that the two of them couldn't stop or risk losing the advantage on the other. "I mean, I can certainly talk about myself for hours. Did you know I met a doctor like you once, back in my earlier years? He was so pitiful." Slash. Step. Slash. "Yet, he didn't even scream when I ended his life. Even the weakest among us don't step to lashing out at their end." Slash. Step. Step. Slash. Step. "Because they accept the inevitable. I don't lose, Doctor. I never have and never will."
"I'm going to fucking kill you."
"Now, the stronger people? The ones who think that they are capable? Doctor, those ones are the most fun to break." Scott kicked out a leg and sent the doctor crashing to his knees, grabbing the sword and throwing it to the side despite the sting of silver. "And frankly? You're already tearing at the seams. Because I can tell you thought you had a chance. And the first step to understanding me is accepting that you never had a chance in the first place."
Whatever you do, you're not going to be enough.
