Following the path of elation is different for everyone. For some it’s harmless little pranks and for others it’s doing things that would make you end up in jail, it depends on the person. Honestly, it doesn’t matter how you seek and feel elation, what matters is that you’re not bored and sad. And what do you do when you feel the boredom kick in? Change yourself. Again and again and again and again and again...
That's how Sparkle dealt with boredom. She would change her identity if it didn’t feel elating enough, or if she got bored. She has been doing this for... how long now? She couldn’t remember. It didn’t matter. After all, she forgot her real identity years ago. Her true self was now just a burning memory of shame, before she gave her life away to elation. That is just how she sought elation. But was it really elating if she was standing in front of her bathroom mirror with a blade in her hand, looking at herself and questioning who she really is.
She didn’t know. She didn’t want to know.
She hated this feeling. She felt so lost, she didn’t want to do this, but she also didn't know what else to do.
The blade separated the skin on her wrists. It burned so much. It burned so good. She didn't want to feel anything anymore. The emptiness she tried to get rid of years ago finally started catching up to her. She didn't know what was happening anymore, so she slit her wrist again and again and again. Each for one identity crisis she had. And again and again. She was crying. Was it loud? Hopefully not. No one needs to know about this. The blood dripped down from her arm, she could barely see it from her teary eyes. Her ears started ringing, vision got even more blurry than it already was. Her mind was racing. It was like all of her emotions combined together and created insanity, yet she didn’t stop. She wasn’t planing on anyway. The red liquid stained her sink and clothes. Oh Aeons she was losing so much blood. And the consequences of her playing ninja fruit on herself were starting to kick in.
She could hear something from the outside of the bathroom. It was faint. It kept getting louder. She could almost process what it was. It was so obvious yet so hard. It got louder.
It was footsteps.
Someone was coming.
Shit.
Was she being loud? It was too late.
The door flung open. Sparkle turned her head to see who it was. She couldn’t see clearly. She was dizzy and her eyes were filled with tears. She took a moment to process and realized that it was Vita. It was Vita. Shit, it was Vita.
Sparkle took a step back. She didn’t want Vita to see her in a state like this. Vita stared at her. Taking a moment to process the situation. Then the realization hit her. She didn’t say a word, her face told it all. She ran to Sparkle, trying to steal the blade from her hand. Sparkle was weak, but she needed the blade. It was helping. She didn't want to stop. Her grip on the blade was firm. But not firm enough so Vita couldn’t rip it out. Vita took her hand, snatched the blade and took a closer look at her freshly made wounds. She glanced at Sparkle. » What did you...« She grabbed her chin with her free hand, forcing sparkle to look at her. » Hey, look at me. You are not gonna be doing that to yourself alright?« Sparkle couldn’t focus. Each second she felt more and more lightheaded. Her legs were hurting like crazy. Her head felt too heavy for her body. Was she going to pass out? She felt warmth. It was like someone hugged her. Maybe it was Vita. She really needed that. It was hard to think. Everything went numb.
Vita caught Sparkle as she passed out. She sat both of them on the bathroom floor. She tried to remain calm and wake her up so she lightly tapped her cheek trying to get a response. Nothing. She tried again. No response. She then decided to pick her up and carry her to her room. She also took some bandages and wipes to treat her wounds. She let out a sigh.
»What are we going to do with you...«
. . . . . . .
20 minutes passed, Sparkle finally woke up on her bed, trying to remember what had happened. Her throat was aching so bad and her head still felt a little heavy from before. Wait, before.
Oh.
The memories flashed behind her eyes as she remembered what had happened. She took a look at her wrist only to realize that it’s been taken care of and cleaned, It must’ve been Vita. She looked so worried even Sparkle felt a little guilty. Where was she now? Sparkle glanced around her room but didn’t notice Vita anywhere. She was mostly grateful that she left but a small part of her wanted her to stay. Did she leave? Or so she thought.
Vita soon returned with a glass of water. Sparkle studied her expression and by her surprise she looked more concerned than mad. Vita took a seat next to her, neither of the girls dared to say anything. It was only them and the awkward silence, before Vita decided to break it by giving Sparkle the glass of water. »Drink up.« Sparkle looked at her, took the glass and drank it in one go. She knew she was in trouble and will have to tell Vita about what’s going on, she can lie about it even though there is a big chance that it wont work, its still worth a shot.
»So did you like the little prank i prepared for you~«
»Sparkle.«
»Don't tell me you actually feel for it? I knew it would be funny.«
»Sparkle stop. I know what your pranks are like and this is most definitely not a prank.«
Oh shit.
Sparkle stared at her for a full second and then turned her face away. Was she going to cry again?
Oh shes so pathetic. Can’t be quiet now shes going to deal with the consequences. She always wanted someone to get under her skin and realize how much she’s been struggling, now that it was finally happening, shes gone stiff. Her mind was becoming a mess again, the only thoughts that raced through her mind were.. were? She can’t remember. Like she can’t remember her true self.
Her breathing fastened. She could hear her heartbeat, her head spinning and mind racing, but it was all stopped when Vita turned her around and pulled her into her arms. She hugged her and after she processed the warmth, Sparkle accepted the hug back. It didn’t take long for her to breakdown in her embrace, gosh she was vulnerable at the moment. She ignored everything and focused on the comfort she was being given.
After she calmed down, she let go of the hug and turned her head to look at the woman who just saw more than she should’ve have, her eyes still red from crying.
»I'm sorry you had to see that«
»This is the first time i've seen you apologize little goldfish and its making me very concerned.«
Sparkle let out a chuckle, despite what happens, she always finds a way to make her smile.
»Now you will tell me what pushed you to the point of doing that right?« Her tone became a bit more serious now. She glanced at Sparkles wrist and then back to her.
Sparkle looked at her with an unamused look, she knew this was going to happen, but at least its Vita not some other person. »Do i really need to?« She sighed.
»Of course you do, you scared the life out of me when I walked into that bathroom. You owe me now~«
Sparkle looked at her and smiled. Maybe she did owe her...
