Chapter Text
6:00am
Ayano wakes up to any other day, brushes her teeth, does her hair , and gets her book bag
Nothing out of the ordinary.
Just the way she likes it.
Atleast that’s what she told herself.
Ayano knows she’s not like everyone else, others have hobbies, goals, aspirations. Ayano on the other hand, she doesn’t have anything. Not something to look forward too, not something to ‘reminisce’ about, she just has herself.
And she likes it that way.
Empty, emotionless, unfulfilled.
As she walked into the entrance of her school, her ponytail swayed in the wind, her bangs wisped against her porcelain skin; she delicately would lift up her dainty fingers to brush them away.
“AYA-CHAN!”
Midoris’ voice pierced through the lockers causing Ayano to jump slightly.
Ayano never really understood the concept of ‘friends’, her mother always told her they did more harm than good. They were simply pawns for her to manipulate. However, Ayano knew better than to listen to that crooked woman, even so; sometimes her teachings were deeply ingrained into Ayano’s morals. She hated it.
“Hello Midori , Can I help you with anything?”
What a nuisance, Ayano thought. Midori and Ayano were childhood friends, even though Ayano was 1 year older, them being neighbours made it hard for her to distance herself. Although Ayano thought of Midori as a pest, she couldn’t bring herself to be rude to this girl, after all Midori always had good intentions — no matter how pushy she came across with them.
“ I was just talking to Kokona and some others! Wanna join? I have news~ “
“ Do I have t- “
Before Ayano could even get the last words out, Midori was already dragging her near the fountain, where the other brightly haired girls stayed. Great. Ayano already doesn’t do well in 1 to 1 social interactions now it’s 5 to 1?! Like always, Ayano wonders how she gets into these situations.
Cowering into the back, Ayano tries to hide her self and she lets the girls talk amongst themselves. Due to her lack of confidence, she stays quiet and lets Midori take the wheel, Ayano just quietly listens, observing the girls talk effortlessly about absent minded things: homework, silly crushes, annoying teachers. The normality of their conversation stung Ayano like a bee of jealousy, she often wondered if she will ever be normal like them.
