Lousy exchange

Summary:

Hawks seemed to find Shouta’s plight very funny. Especially when he tried to find a not-terribly position to take a nap, in order to make the time pass faster.

“You have to lie on your stomach,” the nuisance advised, while he himself was happily lying flat on his back, likely reveling in the novelty of that. “Kinda- fold yourself into a pretzel.”

“I hate your quirk,” Shouta mumbled, rolling his sleeping bag into a pill and lying his head on top of it.

“I know, man.” Hawks had the gall to snicker. “Your quirk has been very nice, though! Very comfy for napping.”

Notes:

for bee's 3. "quirk swap (temporary incident, permanent, au? your choice)"

Work Text:

Shouta was very happy with his quirk. It wasn’t very flashy — that would have just been a detriment to his hero career — and it was very practical. There weren’t many quirks in existence which he would consider better suited to a hero career, and he only wasn’t saying none because he couldn’t claim to know every single one.

If he was to make a list of all the quirks he would have hated to have been born with, though… Oh, he could talk on that specific topic for hours. Mic’s quirk would definitely be up there, and so would be Miss Joke’s. That insomnia guy from Hero Public Safety Commission, too. Honestly, most of the heroes he interacted with on regular basis would be somewhere near the top, as they were those whose quirk drawbacks Shouta was the most familiar with.

But there was one quirk which had been steadily working its way up that ranking in the past few hours: Fierce Wings. A quirk which had, up to the point of an unfortunate accident that morning, belonged to Hawks.

Shouta had been just about to finish his patrol, and Hawks was on his way to begin his, when someone had used their quirk on them — either deliberately, with malicious intent, or accidentally, the investigation was still ongoing — and switched their quirks around.

Now Hawks was in possession of Erasure, his wings and a number of other bird-like traits gone. And Shouta was forced to suffer through not only the unwieldy weight on his back, but also talons on his feet and hands, and an uncomfortable feeling around his eyes which he was trying not to think about too deeply.

Once they handed off the case to another patrol of heroes — since this was the kind of an accident that forced heroes out of the field immediately — Shouta had grabbed Hawks by the scruff of his neck and marched him right up to UA.

That’s where they stayed at ever since, in one of the empty offices. It was technically designated as Shouta’s space to use as he wished, but he’s never set foot in there before.

Now he was glad that he’s never had a chance to put anything important in there, because the dead weight of his wings kept knocking everything over. Even the chair at one point.

“I hate you so, so much.”
