Juyeon pushes open the door, one foot already out on the patio, when a soft hum comes from behind him, closer than he expects it to. The instinctual part of his brain, the one that doesn't understand that they have to pretend they don't see the ghost, freezes like a prey animal– and with it, the whole of Juyeon’s body.
He jerks himself forward immediately after, leaving the room, but the split second slip up would be noticeable to anyone looking at him.
“That’s interesting,” the ghost says, voice warm and lilting, as if he’s teasing Juyeon, “very interesting.” -
