Chapter 1: The Frontrooms

Chapter Text

I woke up early this morning, excited to go to my friend Anna’s birthday party.

It was a lot later in the day but I had to redye my hair and wrap her gift unless I wanted to show up with my roots showing and the gift in a bag… again.

Of course I didn’t think to change into a dye shirt and stained my best shirt, so I had to find a new one to wear to her party.

I eventually dug out an old band T-shirt from a band I don’t even listen to anymore, but it’s soft and I don’t really feel like finding something uncomfortable to wear.

Now that my hair’s dry and I’m dressed I guess I have to wrap the gift… I’ve never liked wrapping these, but I don’t want to give another gift bag, I’ve already given so many this year.

It’s been at least 5 minutes of failing to wrap this gift, which is way too much, how hard can a box be?

I shove the box into a bag and fill it with blue tissue paper, her favorite color… or was it green?

I ended up putting both in the bag and getting into the car, I’d probably arrive early but better early than late right? At least this shows I care enough to be there.

I got there early as expected, so I just sat in her driveway reading until about 5 minutes before I was told to get there.

“Anna? Is everything ready for the party? Hope I’m not too early,” I open the door and step inside, but she’s not there.
I set the gift bag down and step further in, “Anna?” The decorations look half finished, and the house is too quiet for her to just not be done setting up.

Worried, I walked to her room in case she just decided to rest, but I must have tripped on something since I fell, but wait, wasn’t the floor supposed to be there?

I fell, a little confused, and soon adjusted to see yellowed halls around me and found myself laying on soggy thick carpet, gross.
