Work Text:
'Love sounds different for everyone. When a couple talks to each other after falling in love too deep, the conversation will always somehow have their personal love language in it.'
Changbin read the quote he found in his social media again and again. He is at the age to learn about love. Although he has no intention to go on a date because he has a big exam next year and Iyen didn't like him, he still gets curious once in a while. He is currently at his uncle and aunt's house, and needs to stay over since his parents have to attend a wedding ceremony in Jeju. His little brother is playing with his little cousin on the floor, while he is scrolling his phone next to Seungmin and Minho on the couch.
He read the quote again. How can a couple add their love language in the conversation? How is that supposed to sound like? Suddenly, he couldn't help but eavesdrop on the conversation between the couple next to him.
"Honey" Minho calls her husband, but it attracts Changbin as well to listen to her words. The couple don't even notice that he is looking at them.
"Yes?" Seungmin immediately turns off his phone to give his full attention to his wife.
"Would you rather spend 10 years in a coma or 5 years in prison?"
Absolutely random. Changbin tries to find the love language through that specific conversation, so he just listens attentively. The question is too out of nowhere, but Seungmin doesn't seem to question anything and just simply thinks of an answer.
"Hmmm... Considering only the good side of both options, I'll choose the prison. I'll get life experience at least. Even if it's a bad experience, it can be my lesson and if it's a good experience, it'll become my memory" he answers seriously, it is obvious how he actually gives a serious thought over the random question. Minho nods while she looks back at her phone screen.
"Right. You're a puppy that can't sit still after all" she mumbles almost to herself but Changbin and Seungmin can hear it. Seungmin also goes back to look at his phone but he still continues the conversation.
"You'll choose coma?" He guesses. Minho nods again.
"Get a chance to go to an uncertainty dimension while someone else maintains the nutrition in your body and you just stay in bed? Sounds amazing" she replies solemnly without looking away. Changbin wants to laugh but he doesn't want them to know that he is listening to them. The conversation might turn out different if they are self-aware. Seungmin looks at his wife right after he hears the answer.
"You won't miss me?" He asks, not a single hint of upset in his voice. Minho rolls her eyes and reciprocates the eye contact.
"Kim Seungmin, you're in love with me. You'll follow me wherever I go, so I'm pretty sure you'll be there in that coma dimension or you'll be the one who misses me" she argues, squinting her eyes at him like a threat attempt. He doesn't look bothered about it.
"Actually, people tend to move on 3 years after lack of communication. So, I think my longing and yearning for you will fade within your 10 years coma" he solemnly replies. The squint from Minho has now turned into a sharp glare. She takes it a little too personally, she has to pull him closer and gives him a headlock right away. Seungmin laughs, trying to escape while Minho gets aggressive.
"Is that so? Should we proceed with the divorce now so it's easier when it happens? Hm? Why aren't you divorcing me yet? Hurry up! Divorce me!" Minho scolds, totally annoyed. Yongbok doesn't seem to care about the chaos, Chan freezes in his place when he sees the headlock situation, while Changbin chuckles as he witnesses the bicker.
He still doesn't understand the quote much after observing the interaction, but he surely knows his uncle and aunt really love to get on each other's nerve. Maybe that is considered a love language, after all.

Bonus :
"Uncle, Auntie, I was wondering" Changbin finally speaks up that night, when they are preparing a place to sleep in front of the tv in the living room. The couple will obviously sleep on the bed because Minho is pregnant, so only the kids will sleep together, including Yongbok. Who needs a guest room when you can fall asleep while watching tv, right? Minho changes her attention from watching Seungmin arranging pillows to her nephew, then she nods.
"Okay, I hope you get the answer" she replies solemnly. Seungmin chuckles without even looking in their direction while Changbin sends her a glare. In the meantime, Yongbok is rolling Chan in the comforter like a kimbap. He disappears in the roll since the comforter is way bigger than him.
"What's your love language?" The high school boy asks straight ahead, before he grabs the pink dwaekki hugging pillow and passes it to Yongbok. The little girl gasps, then quickly uses it to hit the comforter roll like a punching bag. Seungmin runs to stop such a violence act, while Minho is hugging a blanket in her arms, thinking.
"Hm... Love language..." She stops there, then she looks at her husband. Seungmin is scolding Yongbok calmly and asking her to apologize to Chan, didn't even notice that Chan is sticking his tongue out at Yongbok when he is not looking. A smile appears on Minho's lips before she looks back at Changbin and answers.
"Maybe... Existence"
The high school boy raises his brows, doesn't expect an answer so sweet coming from his aunt that loves to deny her love for her husband. But he couldn't get to reply when suddenly
"I heard that, by the way" Seungmin interrupts, still looking away from his wife and nephew as he is straightening the comforter again. The two kids already run to the kitchen together to drink milk. Minho freezes, and Changbin can see her face blushing harder and harder. When Seungmin finally looks at her with a teasing smile, she loses it.
"Get down, Kim Seungmin. I'm gonna roll you in that comforter like a kimbap and beat you like a punching bag" she threatens while lifting her fist up to punch her husband and Seungmin just waddles away from her as he giggles happily.
Changbin watches everything, and slowly, a smile appears on his lips too.
They make love look so fun.
The End <3
