Work Text:

Recently, Changbin has been watching his aunt and uncle, and how their love language can be seen through their conversation with each other. But that was like a few weeks ago. Today, when he opens his social media to show his little brother the funny video he saved, he sees the video again. The video with the caption that said;

'Love sounds different for everyone. When a couple talks to each other after falling in love too deep, the conversation will always somehow have their personal love language in it.'

Love sounds different. Instantly, he has the urge to look at his parents. Their house has a roof deck where the family will spend their night together once in a while. Sometimes they would sing and dance like they are in a fancy restaurant after a candle light dinner. Sometimes they sit at the coffee table, talking and snacking. Tonight, they are lying on a mattress that they brought from the attic, and stargazing.

Chan asks where the video is but Changbin is too focused on his parents to care about him, so he gives his phone to Chan instead so the little boy would stop interrupting him. Chan excitedly takes over the phone, and wastes no time to close the social media app so he can open the music-making app, the app the loves the most. In the meantime, Changbin is listening to his parents' conversation, and they are too immersed in their little world to notice their son on the left.

"My love?" Hyunjin calls. Both of them are staring at the stars, but Jisung has his focus more towards his wife.

"I'm here" he answers, and Changbin watches as his father takes his mother's hand and gives it a soft kiss. It blooms a smile on Hyunjin's face instantly, but she doesn't bring it up and just continues her topic.

"Do you think the stars are looking at us too from where they are?" She wonders. Jisung smiles so widely when he hears that and he changes his gaze to look at her as he answers.

"Of course, my love. And I know, there are two aligned stars watching upon us right now, and say to themselves 'we just made the best thing on earth happen by connecting those two souls together'" he says, and booping his wife's nose with his fingertips. Hyunjing chuckles softly, the night can't hide the blush on her face.

"Oh, love, that's beautiful" And now they are officially losing their focus on the stars. Jisung leans closer to Hyunjin, hands moving to her body as she giggles.

"It is? Then, can you give me a kiss?" He flirts, so close to having a kiss but Changbin clears his throat so loudly that it startles everyone including Chan. They look at Changin, and he pretends to stargaze, with his hands behind his head.

"Woah~ a shooting star~!" He fakes a statement. In less than a second, his family laugh, causing him to grin foolishly. He hears how his father said 'to be continued' to his mother, and he can't help but chuckles. Their love feels indeed different from his uncle and aunt.

- The End -

Bonus :

"My dear enemy" Grandma Jeongin calls when the old couple is scrolling through their own IPads. Grandpa Felix turns the gadget off and puts it aside right away, facing his wife with full attention.

"Yes, my heart? Do you need a massage?" He asks, while already has his hands on her upper arm, massage it lightly. The grandmother doesn't stop him.

"No. I'm just curious" she says without looking away from the screen.

"About?" Grandpa Felix hears attentively, his hands move to the thigh now, massaging just as light. Grandma Jeongin takes a while to reply, she loses focus from her gadget for a few seconds before scrolling through it again.

"Who do you think will go first between us?" She asks, her intonation is slightly weaker than before. The grandfather gasps, his hands stop from massaging right away.

"Oh, my heart, that is too sad to think about. I can't imagine a life without you" he says, holding her hand tightly and gives it a kiss. But instead of feeling heart fluttering, Grandma Jeongin gives him a side eye, looking annoyed before she replies.

"Then, you go die first. I'll travel around the world without you and see Stray Kids" she states solemnly as she looks at her X fanaccount again. Grandpa Felix stays still for a bit, there is a little pout and eyebrow furrowing on his face.

"You can imagine your life without me?" He sounds sulky. Grandma Jeongin nods without a second thought.

"I don't have to. I always have Felix in my life, with or without you around" she says, checking the Bubble update from that one idol she loves the most. She keeps on scrolling nothing, until she can feel Grandpa Felix gets off the couch and leaves. Only them, she turns her head and watches as he walks to the kitchen to see their sons and daughter-in-laws.

A weak smile blooms on her face.

"Dumbass. You'll suffer too much if I go first. So, I'll suffer instead" she mumbles, loud enough to be heard in the living room but she doesn't mind. No one is there except her anyway.

Or so she thought.

When she is about to look at her IPad again, suddenly she feels like she is being stared at. She freezes, then she turns around. She sees her first grandson is standing near the front door, watching her. She knows so well that he has been listening this whole time. Changin pouts, feeling upsets from listening to the whole conversation. It must be upsetting to hear his grandparents talk about death, Grandma Jeongin assumes. So, she clears her throat.

"...Stop being sad, you punk. You look ugly like that"
