Chapter Text
Charlie stared at the fire. Her mind was a wreck. Thoughts all over the place as she waited. She had been awake all night. After all, her father was currently bringing her new baby sibling into the world. So she was both insanely excited. But also terrified.
Lucifer had confided in her about the problems that had come when he had given birth to her. He didn’t want to scare her, no, he just wanted to warn her. And that if anything happened, she needed to be brave. But, after the initial shock that Lucifer had in fact carried her, Charlie reassured him she would be absolutely fine! In reality, She wasn’t. She was far from fine. Especially when Lucifer went into labour. But she was trying.
And if trying meant not sleeping all night and waiting like the bundle of nerves she currently was. Then so be it.
She had sent Vaggi to bed, knowing one of them would need to be coherent for the day, And whilst she was against leaving Charlie alone, Vaggi had gone to bed. And hogged the entire thing. She supposed Charlie was right, she’d need to be well rested if she wanted to keep sinners away from the top floor. Lucifer didn’t need the stress of Alastor going bananas because someone got to close to their bedroom. That was the last thing they needed.
Charlie glanced at the clock above the mantle, She wasn’t sure how many hours had passed, but she knew it had to have been a lot. The room was a mess. Pillows strewn across the place from how much she flopped around on the sofa, moving from place to place as she couldn’t stay still long enough. Bits of paper were dotted all around. In an attempt to keep herself distracted, she had scribbled hundreds of little doodles and then ripped them up out of nerves.
Vaggi was going to be a bit mad about the mess.
More minutes ticked by, and Charlie’s nerves only worsened as she began to pace around the room.
So lost in her thoughts of: was her dad okay? Was Al okay? Was the baby okay!? She didn’t see the shadow’s swirl behind her. Or hear the soft chittering that followed after.
A cold, whispy hand settled on her shoulder. Sending her flying in the air as she screamed in shock. She spun round on her hooves, blinking in surprise as Alastor’s shadow laughed. Mimicking her jump as she flushed in embarrassment. She wanted to throw the thing out the window! She took a deep breath, and looked the shadow straight in the eyes. “Is my dad and the baby okay?”
The shadow didn’t respond. Which filled Charlie with dread. Something had to be wrong! But before she could say a word, the shadow wrapped around her. Holding her close before it pulled her down. Charlie tried not to scream. She had never.. shadow travelled(?) before. So she was terrified. And screwed her eyes shut. Only opening them again when the sounds of a very proud static called out to her. “Charlie, it’s okay, you can open your eyes.”
Despite the reassurance in Alastor’s voice, Charlie still felt uneasy. And pried one eye open just a fraction. And gasped in surprise. Smiling widly at the sight before her. Propped up against many pillows, looking absolutely exhausted, with a tiny bundle in his arms, was her father. And Alastor sat beside him, a smile so full of love as he looked at the two of them. Charlie bounced over, and Alastor gestured for her to be as quiet as possible. Charlie nodded so hard, both Alastor and Lucifer thought her head was going to fall off. Lucifer gestured with a little tilt of his head for her to come closer. And adjusted his hold on the baby so Charlie could see
Charlie had to use all her willpower to try and not squeal at the utterly adorable sight before her. Her baby sibling was so cute!! A perfect mix of Alastor and Lucifer. And the cutest, biggest eyes Charlie had ever seen. Utterly adorable. “Is.. are you okay? Is the baby okay?” She needed to know.
“It’s a little girl, and yes, we are both fine sweetheart.” Lucifer explained, his voice was hoarse from screaming, barely even there any more. But the sight of Charlie lighting up was worth the extra strain. Very worth it. He knew she was nervous. And he couldn’t blame her.
“A baby sister…” Charlie whispered in awe. Flushing in embarrassment yet again as Alastor chuckled quietly. “D-Do.. Do you have a name yet?” She asked quietly. Still staring at her new sister with sparkles in her eyes.
“Mhm, we do.” Alastor glanced at Lucifer, who shot him a slightly annoyed but loving look. Alastor glanced away, laughing awkwardly. Charlie stared at them in confusion. Had they not actually chosen a name then? Lucifer adjusted his hold on his second daughter. Rolling his eyes, with a fond smile. “Tell her then mister,”
“She’s.. called Ella-Rose.”
Charlie tilted her head in confusion. That was a lovely name! So why did Lucifer look a little annoyed?
“What’s wrong with Ella-Rose?” She asked quietly.
“She’s named after Rosie,” Lucifer explained. Watching with an almost sadistic grin as Alastor buried his head in his hands. “And Al is now banned from drinking alcohol ever again.”
Charlie was now more confused then ever before. “Didn’t Rosie-”
“Own my soul?” Alastor pointed out. Charlie nodded slowly. “Yes, but we’re still friends. And… after Lucifer told me he was pregnant I panicked, fled to Rosie’s and she got me shitfaced to relax. And then we jokingly made a deal to name the baby after her.”
Oh. Uh oh.
Lucifer glanced at Charlie, who looked a little horrified, just like Alastor was. And he burst into laughter. “It’s okay Charlie! I’m not going to name my baby a name we wouldn’t want. We had a long talk before she was born. I do actually like the name Rose. Al is just horrified because he knows Rosie is going to gloat and probably steal the little lady to show around as a mini-me. I wanted Ella added on because it felt right.”
“She’s already making a mini version of her dress,” Alastor muttered. He looked at Lucifer, who was still laughing at the entire situation and found himself laughing too. “Well, my fuck ups will give the little lady a story to look forward to when she’s older. And an auntie who will take no shit from anyone.” He wrapped an arm around Lucifer, holding him close and he watched their daughter. “She’s perfect. That’s all that matters.”
Felling somewhat more relieved, Charlie let out a little sigh of relief and scooted even closer, cooing softly at Ella-Rose. “I like the name too.” She admitted. Lucifer beamed, and Alastor rolled his eyes with a fond smile.
Charlie watched the cute display, feeling all warm and fuzzy from the scene. She glanced at the clock, then back at Lucifer. He looked a mess. She stepped back and made her way to the door. “Get some rest dad, and you too Al, I’m going to tell Vaggi the good news and help her keep everyone from this floor.” Alastor nodded in thanks and Charlie slipped out the room. Closing the door behind her so very gently. She rushed to the stairs and squealed as quietly as she could. Bouncing down the steps to the floor her and Vaggi’s room was on.
“Vaggi! Vaggi! Vaggi!!” She flung the door open with a wild grin, blushing ever so slightly at the sight of Vaggi’s bare chest. She was half dressed. And now yelling at Charlie to close the door. But Charlie’s brain was on auto pilot. “Dad had the baby!”
Vaggi dropped her shirt in surprise. She rushed over, grabbing Charlie by the hands to pull her inside. “He did?! Is everything okay?!” Despite getting the entire bed to herself, Vaggie was also exhausted from worry. And had tossed and turned so much, the bed was a mess.
“All okay, dad is good, exhausted. Baby is healthy. And Al is the happiest I have ever seen him.” Vaggi couldn’t help but match Charlie’s smile. She was thrilled everything is okay.
“Girl or boy?” She asked.
“The most cutest little girl ever!”
Charlie pulled Vaggi into a hug, resting her chin on top of Vaggi’s head. “I’m a big sister..” She whispered, eye’s filling with tears as it slowly hit her. She was a big sister. Vaggi’s arms wrapped around Charlie and despite being partially muffled by Charlie’s chest, Vaggi did all she could to reassure her.
“You will be an amazing big sister Charlie.”
Charlie began to sob, very loudly and scooped Vaggi up into her arms. Vaggi patted her gently. "Oh Charlie. I think your going to cry more then the little one is!"
