Work Text:
Tonight was the night of the Prom in Hometown. Excitement filled the air, irritation at the prospect of being in a crowded room for two hours filled Kris’ thoughts, and invitations to go to said crowded room filled Noelle’s locker. Susie, however, was totally lacking any metaphorical filling.
She and Kris were standing in the Dreemurs’ living room, investigating their outfits for any imperfections.
Kris was dressed in a dark purple button-up shirt, black vest with a rose boutonniere, plain black slacks, and dress shoes. If they were going to be miserable, they might as well be miserable and classy.
Susie had been generously donated one of Asriel’s old dark yellow suits (ugly), which Susie had very stylishly ripped the sleeves off of (cool).
Toriel had rushed through the living room, ushering the two into the van so that they weren’t any later for prom than they already were.
Pulling into the (only) school parking space, they all piled out of the van and headed through to the school gymnasium, where the dance was being held.
The gym must’ve been repurposed from an old ballroom or something, because it was massive, with a stage opposite the entrance, and stairwells beside it leading to the unused– but still easily accessible– second floor of the building.
All of their classmates had shown up, as well as Alphys, Officers Undyne and Napstablook, the Holidays, Asgore, Asriel, and now Toriel, all acting as chaperones. Most of which, however, were just gossiping amongst each other, except for Asriel, who waved as they entered.
Susie, scoping out the room to find the snack table, saw Noelle standing next to it, dressed in a white-silver colored suit with red pinstripes of varying thickness, golden hair curling down her back.
She looked damn good, Susie thought, evidenced by the deepening of the purple on her face.
“Okay, big guy, let’s get you over by the stage before you blow a fuse,” Kris said, pushing on Susie’s back, moving her forward.
“I can walk, jackass!” Said Susie, indignantly.
“Feel free to pitch in anytime, then,” Kris strained from behind her.
“Nah,” Susie said. “‘S comfy not having to walk. Plus, I look sick as hell with a personal pusher person.”
“And somehow, I’m the jackass,” Kris muttered.
“Heard that!”
Kris was recuperating at the foot of the stage where crummy, royalty-free dance music was being played. What kind of dance this music was supposed to go to could only be answered by someone with six feet. Five of which were left. Susie was on the stairs next to them, treating the steps like a seat.
Susie was, to put it kindly, very obviously ogling Noelle from the steps. Stare unwavering, face still deep purple.
Kris, tired of Susie treating Noelle like very literal eye candy, decides to say something.
“You realize she’s like, madly in love with you, right?”
“Huh? No she’s not. Don’t be stupid.”
“Suz, please. It’s so obvious. It’s been obvious since you first walked into class. She’s obsessed with you.”
“No, she’s not! She’s terrified of me. You remember the Cyber World, she was afraid of me then, and she's afraid of me now.”
“But that’s the thing,” they said. “Noelle isn’t afraid of you.”
“Of course she is. Everyone is. ‘S just how things are.”
“She’s not. Never has been. Intimidated, sure, but never scared. Never scared to see the good in you. Never scared to see past the act. Never scared to see your kindness, your soft side, the parts of you that aren’t so harsh. The only thing she’s ever really been afraid of…”
They turn to her, two dull red glints visible from behind the shadow of their bangs.
“... is that you might never feel the same way.”
Susie sputters for a second before trying to save face.
“Feel the same about what?”
“About her. Or yourself, for that matter.”
“Whaddya mean ‘about me’?”
“You really think she wants the girl she adores so much to treat herself the way you do?
Susie, getting uncomfortable, pivots. “Where’s all of this coming from anyway, man? What’s it to you how she feels?”
“Susie, I have been friends with that hopeless mess of a lesbian for over a decade now. I know her all too well. If I didn’t tell you, you’d never find out.”
“Why? I thought you said she wasn’t afraid of me?”
“She’s afraid of losing you.”
“How does that make any sense? I’ll never stop being her friend.”
“Well, when a person has feelings for someone, but fears that revealing those feelings may cause that person to leave, they probably won’t say anything at all.” They understood that sentiment all too well. Not that anyone would ever learn of this.
Especially not those two.
“She would never risk that again. Not with you,” they finished.
“Man… you really became talkative once we got that crummy SOUL outta you, huh?”
Kris shrugged.
Susie let out a huff. “Naturally.”
There was a pause. Not uncomfortable, but definitely tense.
“So, Flirt Master, Expert in the Ways of Love, what do you suggest I do?”
“You know she likes you.”
“Yeah?”
“Do you like her the same way?”
She thought for a moment. “Well, uh… she's soft. Pretty much all over. And sweet. Genuinely seems to give a damn about others. And her food is killer, even if she mostly only bakes…”
“So, do you?”
“... yeah. I do. You’d be an idiot not to!”
Kris agreed, if only in their own thoughts.
“So, are you gonna tell her?” they ask.
“Y’know what?”
She stood triumphantly, pumping a fist into the air.
“Hell yes, I am!”
“Cool. I’ll go warn her.”
“What? Dude-”
Kris cut her off. “If you tell her out of nowhere, she’ll freeze, panic, and run.”
“How do you know?”
“Again, I’ve known her, like, my whole life. Plus, she’s a deer. Her two biggest skills are getting caught in headlights and running away,” Kris said, getting up and making towards Noelle, wherever she may be.
“Man, she was right about you being mean to her,” Susie said with an amused chuckle.
“Only because I care…” they said under their breath, back turned to Susie.
“Noelle.”
The doe startled at the unexpected presence of Kris’ mumbly voice. She turned to look at them, seeing that they were scooping two cups of fruit punch.
“Oh! Kris! W-what are you doing here?”
They simply looked down at the cups they held, and then back at Noelle.
“Right. Duh. Sorry, I’m just– sort of on edge, I guess.”
“What’s got so you tense?”
“Oh, you know, just the usual. Loud music, crowded area, certain… guests.”
“And your stress wouldn’t have anything to do with the presence of our favorite Daughter of Barney, would it?”
Noelle gave a shocked look before laughing.
“Kris! Fa ha, don’t let her hear you call her that!”
“Or what, Noelle? She’ll viciously rip my face off, with those big, sharp, scary teeth of hers, hoisting me up with those strong, scaly arms? Man, I’d hate that,” they said, sipping from their cup with an obvious cocky smirk.
With every word, the blush on Noelle’s face grew brighter, with her nose starting to glow an obvious shade of red.
“I-I know what you’re doing, Kris, stop it! There’s no point in getting me worked up–”
“I’m gonna stop you right there. She likes you, too.”
“Kris, your pranks stopped being funny when we were little.”
“Honestly, this might have been a joke if I weren’t genuinely so– just, so– tired of you shutting yourself down and shooting yourself in the foot. I don’t have it in me to lie to you.”
“Kris… even if you are being serious, what could she possibly see in me? I could list the things I lo- LIKE about her for days, but I’m just… me? I don’t know…”
Noelle, by this point, had taken a seat on the bleachers behind the refreshments table, hands in her lap. Kris followed, sitting next to her, setting the cups to their right.
“I do.”
She turned to look at them, “You do… what?”
“I know exactly what she likes about you.”
Her face turns to one of curiosity, as if beckoning them to continue. They take the cue.
“You’re sweet. You’re caring. You provide, you trust, you try your hardest to see the good in people, and she very deeply appreciates that. You give second chances. You might not always be able to stand up for yourself, but you don’t let just anyone push you around. You care. More than anyone. That’s what makes you stand out. In a cold, uncaring world, you’re a reliable beacon of warmth. She could be caught in a blizzard, and you'd be there with shelter and sugar cookies. You’re not just you, you’re the girl Susie idolizes… even if she doesn't realize it.”
Noelle balked. “I… I don’t think I’ve ever heard you talk that much before.”
Kris shrugged.
Noelle sighed. “Naturally…”
She paused.
“Did… did she say all of those things?”
“Most of them.”
“Huh. Okay… maybe I do stand a chance?”
Kris hops off the bleachers, “Cool. I’ll go grab her.”
“WHAT!?”
“Can’t stop meee!” Kris says, running in Susie’s direction
“KRIS, GET BACK HERE,” she said, giving chase.
Susie saw a grinning Kris rapidly approaching, weaving through the crowd with relative ease, with a half-irritated, half-amused Noelle following close behind.
Okay. Guess this is happening, Susie thought.
Kris skids to a halt just in front of Susie, handing her a cup, and stepping to the side to get her and Noelle face-to-face at last. They make a dramatic bow-out motion as they step away, probably to find a balcony bannister to lean on dramatically.
“So,” Noelle starts nervously. “I heard you've been saying some things about me,” she jokes.
“Nothing shitty, I swear!” Susie defends quickly.
“Fa ha! I hadn't thought so, silly!”
Dear Angel, that laugh twisted her stomach in knots. And the name-calling didn't make her mad this time. It did, like, the opposite, or something. Man. She really was down for the doe. How hadn't she realized this until now? Kris is a lifesaver. With their… love magic, or whatever. And here she thought humans couldn't use magic! Why was she still thinking about Kris? Shit, Noelle is saying something, focus!
“So, Susie, I, um. I'm sure you know I have, uh, something important to tell you by now.
“Uh, yeah, I kinda figured from the whole ‘Kris tricking you into chasing them to me’ thing. And, uh, you're not exactly the only one.”
“Right, yeah, ha, that. Um. So, do you want to go first, or should I?”
“Whatever makes you comfortable, Candycane,” she said with finger-gun and a cheesy wink.
“Candycane”??? She hasn't been called that since before Kris shut down all those years ago. It would always make her so flustered, and apparently, it still had the same effect. Come to think of it, why had it been so flattering from Kris so long ago? Why was she thinking about this? She had a confession to make, dangit!
“Okay, um, I-I guess I'll go first.”
“Sounds good to me, but, man, you sound nervous. Almost mistook you for Alphys with all the stuttering, hah!”
“Ah, I, um, I uh, I’m-I’m sorry. I-I know it can get irritating fast. It's a habit I'm trying to… curb, I suppose?” She said, breathing deep and clenching the fabric of her sleeves.
This was going downhill fast. Her resolve was faltering.
“No! That's- ugh, dammit, sorry. That's not what I meant at all. I uh, actually think it's really, I dunno. Endearing? Whatever. You're fine! It's cute. You're cute!” Susie visibly cringed as soon as the words left her mouth.
Smooth, you big dumbass lizard.
Seeing that this wasn't any easier for Susie actually did make it a bit easier for Noelle. She wasn't talking to some untouchable idol; she was talking to her classmate– her friend! What did she have to fear?
“Alright, I'm just gonna say it! Susie, I like you! Like, like-like you! You've fascinated me ever since you moved here, and I could never shake the feeling that the ‘tough bully’ facade was exactly that, and ever since this whole thing with the dark worlds started, I've been happy every day that I was right! It would make me the happiest deer in town if you would be my girlfriend!”
Oh Angel. She hadn't realized just quite how loudly she had declared her undying “like”. Just about every chaperone was staring at her. Rudy smiled proudly with a nod, Alphys handed Mayor Holiday $10, Berdly shed a silent tear, and Catti just rolled her eyes.
Susie, however, was the one caught in headlights, ironically. After a moment of unresponsive shock, she finally spoke.
“Uh. Yeah, totally! You're super important to me, too. You've been kind to me the whole time. Gave me a real chance when so many people didn't. You've treated my friends well and gave me another person to trust. Noelle, I would love to be your girlfriend.”
Hearing this, Noelle’s brain had all but shut off.
Is this real life?
Before she could overthink, she was already leaning forward towards Susie.
Susie, realizing this, met her halfway.
The kiss was chaste, inexperienced, and quick, but it was perfect. Neither one of them would have it any differently.
After they broke apart, they decided to find somewhere to sit together. They talked well into the night, gushing over each other to each other at last. But Susie did have something on her mind…
“So, this might sound dumb and weird and not important at all, or whatever, but like… when Kris was trying to convince you that I liked you, did they also shower you with, like, a bajillion super sincere, super personal compliments?”
“Hm. Yeah, come to think of it, they did! They said it was mostly stuff that you had said, so I didn't think too much about it, but that ‘mostly’ part did stick out to me…”
“And it was way more than we've ever heard them say at once, right?”
“Yeah, I thought that was weird, too! Do you think they're… possessed again, or something?”
“I dunno…”
Susie turned to look at the floor in thought.
“...”
“...”
“..!”
Susie looked at Noelle with a big, dumb grin on her face.
“Holy shit! I figured it out!”
“What? What happened? What are you thinking?”
“They have a big fat crush on both of us!”
“What??? How would that make sense? If they did, then why would they work so hard wingpersoning us?”
“They're probably on their self-hating shit again. Figured ‘oh man, they would never like me, but maybe if I get them together, then I can happily wallow in self-pity and loneliness somewhere’ like a total idiot.”
“Woah. When did you get so good at reading people? That's not exactly a skill I saw you having.”
“Meh, it's helpful when it comes to the dark world. If you're gonna get stabbed in the back, you might as well know who and where the knife is coming from.”
“But why would they keep that from us?”
“Oh, right, because Kris is famous for their fantastic communication skills,” she said snidely, swigging from her half-forgotten punch.
“Well, yeah, but I figured tonight would've changed that…”
“Noelle, as much as I want to believe they helped us out of the kindness of their own heart, they pretty obviously only helped us out cuz they were sick of us.”
“Yeah, that sounds familiar.”
“...”
“...”
“So, how do you wanna handle this?”
“W-what do you mean?”
“I mean, they have an obvious crush on us, and I’m just gonna say it, we might like them too.”
“What???”
“It took all of one day to get me to stop bullying them, and by our third dark world, I was practically lifelong friends with them. We don’t hide anything from each other. Not anymore, at least. We agree on the dumbest shit, we eat moss together, they treat me right, and I protect them with everything I’ve got.”
“I had noticed you two getting closer, but I didn’t think it was anything romantic!”
“It wasn’t! But… now I’m not so sure. Now that I’m thinkin’ about it, I could see that they were trying their hardest to get closer to me, but they always took every opportunity they could to get me closer to you, so I didn’t think about it too hard, y’know?”
“I could see that. Whenever we were alone, they always encouraged me to stand up for myself and to tell you how I feel. Even tonight, too! But…”
“‘But’ what?”
“I guess… I guess I’m saying I don’t not have feelings for them, I just– can people have feelings for more than one person? Isn’t that… abnormal?”
“You’ve been crushing on the school bully since day one, and you’ve been friends with the only human in town for most of your life. Something tells me you’re okay with abnormal.”
A small blush made its way onto Noelle’s face.
“Besides,” Susie continued. “I see how you talk about them. About how you’ve missed them, and their jokes, and playing in the forest with them, and baking while they eat half the ingredients. It’s obvious that you wanted them back, and something tells me that that wasn’t without a good bit of yearning.”
“I… okay, you’re not entirely wrong…” She trailed off. “Wow. Okay, you're right, I do like them, too. But how do we even bring that up to them? ‘Oh, hey Kris, we assumed that you like both of us, so we’re here to see if you wanna date us’? That’s a terrible plan!”
“We just go find them, and bring it up gently. No need to rush it, but the less time they spend beating themself up, the better. C’mon. I think I know exactly where they’ll be.”
Susie grabbed Noelle by the hand, Noelle lacing their fingers as Susie rushed up the stairs.
Approaching the second-floor balcony, the pair noticed a silhouette, shorter than the both of them, leaning forward with their elbows on the railing.
“Because of course,” Susie huffed.
“Dramatic as always,” Noelle noted with a sigh.
Hearing the couple behind them, Kris turned to face them.
“What are you guys doing here? Figured you’d be enjoying the party with each other. Not much going on up here.”
“Oh yeah? Why’re you up here then, freak?”
“Susie, I thought we were being gentle?”
Kris raised an eyebrow at that. Noelle and Susie walk up to the railing to settle on either side of Kris; Noelle on their left, Susie on their right.
Kris started to feel a bit intimidated. Both monsters were taller than the human and were now surrounding them. Why were those two even here? Kris just got the girls some alone time, and they could hear Noelle’s confession, even from up here. Shouldn’t they be holding hands in a closet or something? Why would they come bother them now?
“Kris.”
They turn to look at Susie.
“Why are you so dead-set on isolating yourself? And don’t give me any of that ‘I don’t want to bother’ bullshit. If you didn’t wanna bother, you would’ve gone and enjoyed the party. Instead, you're shutting yourself out, again, to go sulk by yourself, again, and keep all your problems to yourself, AGAIN.” Susie was starting to feel genuinely upset, now. Why keep all of it inside? She knew personally that that didn’t fix anything; you only feel shittier. She thought Kris was smarter than this. She thought they were a team…
Kris was panicking. They knew Susie was too smart and too good at reading people to have hidden this from her. What were they thinking? She said herself that people not telling her “the whole deal” pissed her off. No wonder she’s angry. They really did it this time.
“Kris,” Noelle interjected, “we’re not trying to make you feel guilty, or evil, or anything like that. We just need to know what’s going on. We… think we may already know.”
Oh no. No, no, no. No, this couldn’t be happening. Why, WHY had they been so obvious!? They’d gotten caught. Crushing hard on both of their best friends, like a freak. They look out over the balcony, a bead of sweat dripping down their face. They were only on the second floor. If they jumped, they’d likely only sustain a sprain, right?
Susie must have seen the gears turning in their head, because she tightly gripped their shoulder, holding them down. Dammit.
Okay. Time to face the music, they supposed.
“Alright, then. What is it you think you’ve figured out?” They said, side-eyeing Susie.
“Hey, don’t be a jackass. We’re not doing this to hurt you.”
“You don’t have to do this, period,” Kris snapped.
Susie was getting pissed. “And leave you to do what? Keep yourself away from us forever, just because you’re afraid to ‘intrude’ on your best friends!?”
“Kris, please, we’re only here to clear something up. As soon as we have an answer, we’ll leave–”
“Then no, I don’t have feelings for either of you. Happy? I’ll be going now.”
Kris started to walk away, but was frozen in their tracks when Noelle spoke.
“No one mentioned having feelings for anyone, Kris. No one but you, I mean.”
Shit.
SHIT!
Hadn't they? Kris could've sworn that's where the conversation was going! It was so obvious, right? Right!? How were they going to explain this? Even if they didn't know yet, they do now! This is it, this is how it ends. They had a good run-
“Hey, dork! Say something, you’ve been staring at that wall for like, thirty seconds already!”
“Susie! What happened to being gentle and taking it slow???”
“Well, that was the plan, but then they started being an ass, and I’m not gonna let my best friend treat my girlfriend like that.”
Noelle blushed at the reminder that they were finally together. It still didn’t totally feel real.
Kris, however, flinched at that. They were right. They were intruding. This is exactly what they were trying to prevent. How had they failed so spectacularly?
“Dude, I- ugh…” Susie had to let out a sigh. Why were they being so difficult? “We know!”
Kris turned around. “Know… what?”
“WE KNOW YOU HAVE A BIG FAT CRUSH ON US! God, was that so hard to admit!? You weren’t exactly subtle about it!”
“Kris, you know we wouldn’t have gotten upset or stopped being friends with you if you told us, right?”
“Yeah, dude. That would just be dumb. Like I said earlier, you’d be stupid not to love her.”
“You said that???” Noelle exclaimed, startled and flattered all the same.
“How could I have? In what world would it be okay or appropriate to confess to the two people you just got together? And how could I know that either of you would feel the same? I still don’t!” Kris said, growing weary of the conversation.
“Kris…” Noelle stepped toward them, taking their hand in hers. “I missed you. Every single day we didn’t talk was miserable. Losing Dess was a pain I never want to feel again… but losing you? While I still saw you in school, and around town, and walking past my gate to get home? It was unbearable. It was like… seeing a ghost, but you were still alive, you just wouldn’t talk to me!”
She sniffled a little.
“I missed you with all my heart. Adventuring in the woods, hoping to find pirate treasure, or ancient ruins, or– or a magical clearing, or something silly like that. Having your mom teach me how to bake while Dess taught you the piano in the same room. Watching scary movies and…”
Noelle looked quite bashful by now.
“... cuddling close to you during the scary, screamy bits. I missed all of it, Kris. I think I’ve always sort of had feelings for you. You’re my childhood friend, how could I not? But when you shut yourself away from me, away from everybody… what was I supposed to do with those feelings? I couldn’t tell you, you wouldn’t even look at me.”
Kris felt horrible. If only they had known…
Then again, if they had, Susie might still be alone, and leaving her behind… Kris would rather die.
“I’m sorry, Noelle. With everything that happened with Dess, and then Mom and Dad, and Asriel leaving for Ebbot U…”
“You don’t have to apologize. Just… stop hurting yourself because you think it'll be better for me! I love you too much to let you do that to yourself anymore!”
Kris was shocked. They turned their surprised gaze towards Susie.
“Hey man, I got the first kiss, you can have the first ‘I Love You’.”
That was it.
That was what sent them over the edge.
They burst out laughing. It was nice to finally relieve some of the tension from the night. These were their best friends. Why were they so damn stressed about it? Had they seriously considered jumping out of a building to avoid this?
Their scratchy laughter went on for a good bit, but when it died down, they looked to Susie again.
“Sorry for stealing your girlfriend, I guess?”
“Hold the hell up!”
Oh no. Had they overstepped their bounds? It had been going too well. Was this where it fell apart?
“Who said you’re only getting Noelle out of this!?” Susie yelled, now stomping over to Kris.
Who was now immensely confused.
Before they had the chance to think, Susie had reached them and pulled them into a tight hug, followed by a harsh noogie.
“What makes you think I don’t like you back, dumbass!?”
“I-I don’t know! I just didn’t want to assume-”
“Yeah!? Well, assume this!” Susie said, holding the shorter human out in front of her, like a big teddy bear.
Before giving them a quick kiss on the lips and hugging them tightly to her.
Pulling away from Kris, Susie started talking.
“I don’t know why you think I wouldn’t like you. You’re my kind of weird. You’ve got my back, always, and after all the ass we’ve kicked together, we’ve got a warrior’s bond. Nothing says a bromance can't become a romance, bro.”
“Bro…” Kris whispered, still embraced by Susie. Placing a tender hand on Susie’s face, they looked deep into her yellow eyes.
Noelle sighed at the display. “No wonder I fell for you goofballs.”
“HEY! Who’re you calling ‘goofy’!?” Susie shouted, dropping Kris. She pointed an accusing finger at Noelle. “I’ve heard you say ‘EXCHEESE ME’, Noelle, you have nothing on us!” Susie defended.
“Yeah, not to mention your Cat Petterz 2 Hi-Score…” Kris added.
“Hey, Cat Petterz 2 is a wonderful game, I’ll have you know!”
“I’ve watched you play it, Elly. It looks how dubstep sounds. I’d know, my brother’s music taste is just… atrocious.”
“Seriously, what even is religious ska?” Susie asked.
Kris shot her a confused glance. “How do you even know about that?”
“What, you seriously think I didn't snoop in your room the first chance I got?”
“Such betrayal. I feel faint. Noelle, my dear, catch me, I may break,” Kris said, dramatically placing the back of their hand to their forehead before slowly falling to the side.
Noelle rushed over, catching Kris, hoisting the human up to carry them bridal-style. “Don’t do that, dummy! I might not have been fast enough to catch you.”
“But trusting you to carry me means I don't have to walk.”
“Oh? And where do you plan on going?”
“I dunno, but I agree that the party’s getting pretty stale. Maybe we should head out.” Susie suggested. “Where to, though?”
“What about the lake? It’s beautiful this time of night.”
“What about our parents? Won’t they wonder where we’re at? You guys know how my mother is,” Noelle worried.
“I can text my mom, and Susie can fight yours,” Kris offered.
“Hell yeah! I’ve been waiting for this.”
“While I appreciate the offer, maybe, um. Don’t fight the mayor? She doesn't need much more reason to run you out of town, Susie.”
“Damn. Well, there go my plans,” Susie lamented.
“I can just tell her we’re staying at the Dreemurrs’ place for a sleepover. Is that okay with you, Kris?”
Kris, whose face had turned as red as their eyes, simply let out a strangled “Yep. Totally.”
“Awright, Susiezilla’s turn,” Susie said, plucking Kris from Noelle’s arms and carrying them in a similar fashion.
“Do I weigh anything to either of you?”
“Nope!” Said Susie gleefully.
“You’re like a couple of grapes!”
“Which is… actually, like, really bad. We gotta get some meat on those bones, dude.”
“Yeah, that might be good,” Kris said.
“Alright, that’s it. We’re going to the lake, gonna chill, maybe make out a bit, who knows where the night takes us, and then, we’re taking you home and baking you the most kick-ass pie you’ve ever eaten!” Susie declared, marching toward the stairwell, still carrying Kris
“Mmhmmcoolsoundsgood,” Kris sputtered, cheeks once again bright red.
“Especially that middle part,” Noelle thought aloud, with a dopey, dreamy expression.
As they left the gym, they saw Rudy laughing as Carol passed the $10 back to Alphys, only for her to hand it to Torel, who was calmly sipping from a mug of spiked something-or-other. Berdly was now punching the floor in anguish. Catti rolled her eyes again, this time whilst using Jockington as a Hula Hoop.
What a night.
The trio sat on the lakeshore. Kris and Noelle had finally shared a kiss, much to Susie’s amusement, given her loud cheering. Noelle had snuggled into Susie’s side, with Kris lying across their laps. Susie skipped stones across the lake once more, and as Kris stared into their broken reflection, seeing Susie and Noelle beside them, they felt like…
… They might finally be okay.
That night, in the Dreemurr house, there could be seen a mess of flour in the kitchen, an entertainment stand (sans television), and the tangled mess of the three teenagers cuddling on the couch. Life in Hometown was good.
