Summary
Drew’s gaze bore into him sharply.
**"If you care so much about your friends Jake, why don't you spit out the truth already?"**The truth.
Lia had told him to be honest with his feelings, to stop bottling everything inside. Most of the wandering students had drifted away now, leaving only their small group. It was time to give the people he’d once loved a real explanation.
Jake lifted his head, his gaze sincere as he met Drew’s eyes.
Drew hated that look. It was the same soft, earnest expression Jake wore when they’d laughed together, back before the music club existed, back when all of Jake’s attention belonged solely to him. Back before Hailey and the others stole his time. That look unraveled him, softened his rage—and he loathed it, even as a tiny part of him still clung to the old warmth between them.
