Work Text:

Shen Qingqiu was going to flay this godsforsaken brute alive.

As soon as he gets out of this fucking mirror.

He seethed, glaring through his little porthole view into the world. The brute had the decency to appear a little sheepish, but his remorse was marred by the scowl taking up most of his face.

"I told you to stop going ahead! To wait, so that I could ensure there were no traps in our path! And what do you do?! Get me caught in a fucking trap!" Shen Qingqiu snapped, poking his finger at the overly large brute in his view so hard he was surprised neither the mirror nor his finger broke.

The brute, unsurprisingly, attempted to defend himself. "I already apologized! What more do you want from me?"

"What more do I want?? I want a decent fucking night hunt partner, and I want out of this fucking mirror, neither of which your pea-sized brain seems capable of accomplishing!" Shen Qingqiu stopped to take a breath, chest heaving. The sides of vision were starting to go red at the sheer audacity of this man. He gave the brute one more scowl before whirling around and dropping into a seated position on what he could only assume was the floor. Aside from his window view, the rest of the space he was occupying was simply a formless black.

"You—!" The brute recovered from his surprise, but Shen Qingqiu had already given up on getting anything through that thick skull of his.

"Just take us back to Cang Qiong, brute. You're far more likely to shatter this space and banish this master's spirit forever than to actually succeed in undoing the trap." He said, not bothering to turn around and look at the brute.

The brute was clearly holding himself back from saying more; it was audible in his carefully regulated breathing. Eventually, Shen Qingqiu heard the rustling of fabrics, and his temporary home shifted and swayed violently with the movement of the mirror. Shen Qingqiu's stomach churned at the thought of what flying would feel like, not to mention the brute's flying in particular, but it was a small sacrifice in order to be let out of this damned mirror sooner.
