Chapter Text
PRELUDE
A rust colored blur passed by the main track, it slowing down revealed a umamusume, with reddish pink eyes, her eyes seemingly landing on a man. She jogged over before stopping in front of the man.
“Tore-chan! How was that?”
“Your times are improving, Tran.”
The man, he had brown hair and matching brown eyes, he was rather small, roughly 5'6.
“Hey Tran.”
Transcend looked over to the man, putting on her glasses.
“Yea, Tore-chan?”
“We should end the training for today, get some rest, your race was two weeks ago.”
Transcend seemingly only tilted her head at that.
“Hmm.. Yea make's sense.”
She said with a frown, before looking at the man.
“Alright, see you tomorrow Tore-chan!”
“See you tomorrow, Tran.”
The man watched as his trainee jogged away, disappearing out of his view.
---------------------------------------------------------
It's getting late. Right, he was supposed to be back in the trainers dorms by now.
The man sat down in the bench, looking over the sky.
“Hey, Koharu.”
The man looked to his left, the dorm leader Fuji Kiseki making herself known.
“Hey, Fuji.”
Fuji stopped by his side, looking at him, like she was dissecting him.
“So, you need something?”
“Nothing really, just wanted to check on the mysterious figure sitting alone on campus.”
“Right, right. So you're gonna sit down or not?”
Koharu gestured to the empty space in the bench.
Fuji sitted down, crossing her legs.
“How have things been going for you and Transcend?”
“Pretty good considering her most recent win.”
He slowly fidgeted, his eyes widening for a second, before returning to normal.
“You know, if you ever have a problem, Im always gonna be here to help you.”
“I'm fine, Fuji.”
Koharu stood up, before looking over to Fuji.
“Im gonna get going, see you later.”
Fuji also stood up, once again staring at Koharu like she was dissecting him.
“Right, I'll see you later too.”
𝘚𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦.. Fuji thought. He'd never acted to distant, Koharu atleast engaged a bit in conversations despite his introverted nature, but he could just be having a bad day, he'd been rather distant since that doctor appointment... 𝘚𝘩𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘵.
Okay, she isn't the type to overthink things.. But okay.
Koharu opened the door to his dorm.
He could hear his heart beating.
𝘛𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘱
𝘛𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘱
...
...
...
𝘛𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘱
𝘛𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘱
That's unnerving, the dread he's putting aside grows bigger in the back of his mind, he's young, too young for this.
But it still happened somehow, he shut the door, looking over at his dorm, cleaned immaculately.
𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘺.
.. No.
Koharu shook his head, heading over to the bathroom, he shouldn't give it mind, he knows that, he stopped in front of the mirror gripping the sink.
Those lifeless brown eyes, how much he wished he stopped seeing them.
𝘏𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘰𝘭𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘺𝘦𝘵?
... No, giving them more problems isn't something he would do.

I don't have a reason to retire so early.
𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘥𝘰.
No, I dont.
𝘠𝘰𝘶'𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘢𝘭

He could fill his grip around the sink tighten.
𝘉𝘶𝘭𝘭𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘵.
He placed one of his hand in his chest.
-𝘵𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘱-
-𝘵𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘱-
...
...
...
Huh?
...
...
He felt his vision blur, falling onto the floor, he felt his head hitting something. What was it?
He couldn't tell, now that his vision was enveloped by darkness.

---------------------------------------
Fuji was walking around campus, with one thing in mind.
Where is he?
He hadn't responded to her texts, or calls, not even seen them.
She asked around not one person knew where he was. Not even Transcend knew.
She didn't realize it when she was already in front of his dorm door.
She knocked, once, twice, she lost count, she grabbed the door knob..
It was unlocked this entire time??
She slowly entered the room. It looked like it was frozen in time, the place was immaculately cleaned, aside from.. That smell.
She walked into his dorm, did he leave something rotting here? Would he do that?
She walked into the bathroom.
The scene infront of her was gonna be burned in her memory.
The smell finally makes sense.
Koharus corpse collapsed in the floor, his head bleeding out, she rushed over, grabbing the corpse.
“K-koharu?!”
She put her hand on his chest.
...
...
...
“No..”
She could feel the tears flowing, grabbing her phone, she'd do the most logical thing she could.
“T-tazuna..?”
“Did something happen, Fuji?”
“Ko.. Koharus dead...”
She was able to say through the sobbing.
Her brain stopped processing things after that.
Everything was a blur, Tazuna arriving, paramedics, police, she was left in her dorm after everything. The scene still burning inside her head.
𝘞𝘩𝘺?
