Work Text:

The early rays of dawn had yet to peak its way through the white and purple lace curtains. Mingyu, as usual these days, was the first one awake, but instead of sneaking out of bed and going for a run, he carefully turned to his left where his mates were peacefully sleeping. He hated to disturb Wonwoo, but a promise was a promise, and Wonwoo had told him to wake him. It didn't make him any less fearful. His fear was justified as when he gently nudged him, Wonwoo instantly glared at him, looking very much like an angry sleepy kitten. Mingyu, trying to keep his voice calm and low so as to not wake Junhui, quickly tried to defuse the situation as well as save himself.

"You told me to wake you up at five, remember?"

Wonwoo, probably still half asleep, took a long second to think about what his mate was saying. He looked over to where Junhui was still sleeping soundly.

"Oh, right." He whispered, finally remembering. "You'll have to help me up. I wound up on my back again."

"I can do that." Mingyu replied, quickly getting out of bed so he could help Wonwoo.

They carefully got out of bed and got washed up and dressed. They were about to make their way downstairs, but were stopped when they passed the bed. Sunny had heard and sensed her favorite human out of bed and awake. She left the top of the nest, near Junhui's head, and walked to the end of the bed where they were. She stretched, yawned, and let out a meow as she approached Wonwoo. They held their breath, as Junhui was a notorious light sleeper, but Sunny's meow didn't even get a flinch out of him. They sighed in relief, Mingyu scooping Sunny up. It was clear she wasn't pleased because it wasn't Wonwoo holding her, but she let it slide, letting Mingyu carry her. Wonwoo let out a little laugh at his fellow spoiled being, scratching under her chin.

As they went downstairs, Wonwoo held onto both the rail and Mingyu's arm. His bump had grown a bit more, and the dizzy spells were back. He had noted a shift in the center of his gravity, if there was even a center. He wasn't sure anymore. Once safely down the stairs, Mingyu gently placed Sunny on her cat tower. She purred, kneading her paws until she found a comfortable spot to resume sleeping. Wonwoo envied her, but there were more important things to do.

Mingyu was already in the kitchen, getting Wonwoo a glass of water. The omega frowned down at the glass that reflected his sleepy expression in the water.

"Some coffee would be nice." He stated wistfully, despite knowing better. "Maybe even a strawberry milkshake."

Mingyu didn't even look at him as he washed his hands to start preparing. "Finish your water, then we'll talk."

"You're so mean."

Regardless, Wonwoo drank the water without much more complaint. As promised, he was reward with a strawberry drink as he helped Mingyu. The whole morning had been his idea. It was Junhui's birthday, it was also unfortunately a busy season for all of them. Wonwoo and Minghao had taken on more projects, needing to design and make many outfits before the month's end for a major event that would be broadcast. Wonwoo was spending more nights at work, leaving for his mates to worry. Mingyu had to redesign a whole section of their house, and it was possibly going to delay them another month. He worried their daughter would arrive without a fully built nursery. Junhui had a major ongoing case and was spending most days in court, or trying to organize and plan in his office. There were many busy days ahead of them, but at least there was breakfast.

Mingyu took over cooking, while Wonwoo packed Junhui and Mingyu's lunches with cute notes, Junhui's having a special one from him and Mingyu. He even made Junhui a milk tea, feeling nostalgic for his days as a barista, not that he missed it any. He was living his dream life now, but the skills still came in handy for days like this. Mingyu wasn't too fond of the idea of Wonwoo making the drink, as it went against what they had promised him, but the omega pointed out there wasn't much he could do and he wanted to do something himself for the alpha. How could the beta argue with that?

Just ten minutes before the alarm was set to go off upstairs, the breakfast was done and plated. Even Sunny's breakfast was ready as well. All they needed to do now was wake the birthday boy up. Just as they were about to head upstairs, Wonwoo received a text. He read it, reread it, and then showed Mingyu. The beta lit up, nodding. They were in agreement. With that, they went to wake their mate.

The alpha was was still peacefully sleeping. With his mates being out of bed, he had shifted a bit more toward the middle, leaving them with the perfect opportunity. Wonwoo crawled in on one side of the bed, while Mingyu crawled in on the other. They snuggled in against their alpha, waking him up with kisses and light nudges. Junhui opened his eyes with a smile and a sleepy but happy rumble.

"Good morning to you too my darlings."

"Happy birthday, Junnie!"

"Happy birthday, Baby."

The two exclaimed. Even Sunny, who had noticed a cuddle session happening without her, had made her way back upstairs and jumped on the bed, planting herself on Junhui's chest. The alpha laughed, giving light kisses to his mates before stretching.

"I almost forgot." Junhui admitted.

"Well, we didn't." Wonwoo stated proudly.

"We made you breakfast!" Mingyu announced happily.

Despite their busy lives, they spent the morning together.

For the first time in a while, Junhui was reluctant to go to work. He loved his job, even when it was rough, draining, and tedious, he loved it all. He loved doing what he was passionate about and making a difference, but since Mingyu and Wonwoo had planned such a lovely breakfast for his birthday, he was reluctant to leave them. However, this case was important too, and he intended to give it his all.

To no surprise, the other lawyers he worked with were already there. They were huddled around Hansol's desk, which Junhui didn't find strange. The three of them were close and often even smelled like one another. They had apparently knew each other all through law school. Wonwoo once mentioned he thought they were probably all mated, but Junhui wasn't completely sure, and it didn't feel right to ask. Either way, they were close and them being huddled around one of their desks in their offices wasn't anything new, but them immediately pulling away when they saw Junhui was there was.

"Morning, hyung!" Chan chirped, a bit too bright for eight in the morning.

Junhui was easy going though, and opted to play along with whatever strange game they were playing. Besides, he had other things to worry about at the moment. So, as he sorted his paperwork and checked for any calls, he decided to joke with them.

"You know, I could send a report that the three of you are gossiping on company time. You could have your pay docked." He taunted playfully.

However, Hansol, who never played when it came to the law, was quick to retort. "That would be in violation of the labor law which protects employees from abuse of power, especially after the bill passed in 2019 was put into effect. We would take you to court, you would lose the civil suit and be fined up to W1,000,000. Not to mention that it would require a thirty day notice and definitive proof for docked pay." He stated without even taking a breath or looking away from his computer. Chan and Seungkwan nodded along, looking proud.

Junhui blinked, but recovered quickly, used to Hansol and his ways. He smiled. "Has anyone told you that you're a good lawyer?"

Hansol shrugged, finally looking up. "Sometimes." He then looked passed Junhui. "Kwan, don't you have that appointment?" He asked suddenly.

The alpha's eyes widened, grabbing his iced americano from Hansol's desk. "Right! Almost forgot. Anyway! Cute threat, Junnie Hyung. I almost believed you this time. Good luck in court today."

With that, he was gone. Junhui laughed, grabbing his stuff, ready to head to court. Chan and Hansol wished him luck, the youngest calling out one last thing.

"See you tonight, Hyung!"

Junhui frowned, a bit confused, but didn't think too much about it, his mind completely focusing on the case. It had been a grueling last few days, and if it had been anyone else, they might have lost hope, but not Junhui, never Junhui. He held strong, deflected when needed, and adapted. To his surprise, the case wrapped up early and he had won. He congratulated his client, passing on additional resources to help them. He left the courthouse feeling elated.

When he returned to his office, Seungkwan was back as well. Once more, he and Chan were huddled around Hansol's desk, but when Junhui entered, they didn't scurry away this time. Instead, Chan looked directly at Junhui.

"Hyung, we wanted to invite you to dinner at our place tonight."

"We want to do something nice for you." Seungkwan chimed.

"We've already asked your mates." Hansol stated. "They said it sounded nice."

It seemed Junhui didn't have much of a choice, but that was okay. Dinner with them sounded nice, but there was something he was still confused about. "Wait, do you all live together?"

The three of them shared a look and a heavy sigh.

Everyone was miraculously home from work on time that evening. Sunny was given an early dinner, which she was more than happy about. Mingyu and Wonwoo had teamed up to kiss Junhui with every inch of his life just because they could. Junhui had tried pushing them off playfully, but eventually gave in, secretly loving the attention. They were almost late for the dinner because Mingyu wouldn't stop kissing Junhui, but thankfully they weren't, and it wasn't that far away. However, when Mingyu turned the car into the long driveway the GPS guided him to, Wonwoo got a strange feeling, something akin to deja vu, then the large house came into view.

"Jun, since when do your coworkers live with Yoon Jeonghan?" He asked, as if it were somehow his fault despite being completely clueless himself.

Mingyu, however was quicker to catch on, parking the car before looking at his mates. "The model, Yoon Jeonghan? The one you've been designing clothes for for years?"

"The very one." Wonwoo confirmed. "I've been to this…mansion before when Jeonghan decides to host parties."

"Well, Seungkwan is an entertainment lawyer. Maybe he asked Jeonghan for a favor?" The alpha tried.

The other two shrugged, getting out of the car and heading to the front door. They were greeted by all of them, including Jeonghan. Wonwoo, he knew of Yoon Jeonghan's antics, narrowed his eyes, already suspicious. The beta didn't even seem to notice, smiling widely.

"Welcome to our place. My mates told me they wanted to do something special for your birthday. Happy birthday!"

While Junhui shyly thanked him, Wonwoo scoffed, pointing to the model. "You tease me about having two mates and you have three! You even called me greedy. Yoon Jeonghan!"

Jeonghan was unfazed. He simply shrugged. "Takes one to know one. I never said being greedy was a bad thing."

As Wonwoo had come to know, there was no arguing with Jeonghan.

Despite the surprise and confusion, it was a lovely evening. Most importantly, Junhui seemed happy. Mingyu and Wonwoo were endeared to see how the alpha's younger coworkers adored him and looked up to him. No matter where he went, Junhui was well loved and his birthday only proved that.
