Work Text:
Tim finds the car in their backyard. It’s Ava’s old one but it’s still in good condition. She had outgrown it and now it was just sitting in the corner of the yard.
He looks over it and then looks at Ava and Daisy playing in the yard. The only reason Tim even noticed it was because Daisy was trying to get into it but got frustrated when she couldn’t move it.
Tim tilts his head at it, and then looks back at his daughters.
“Hey Daisy.” He calls out. Daisy looks over and then starts running towards him.
“Hi daddy.” She says.
“Hey Dais,” he says and then bends down in front of her. “How would you like it if I turned this car into—”
“A bumblebee!” Daisy says. Tim raises his eyebrows at her.
“A bumblebee?” He asks. Daisy nods. “Are you sure?”
“Yes daddy.”
“Okay.” Tim says. “I think I can make that work.” Daisy gives him a big smile and then runs of towards Ava. She whispers something to her sister, and Ava turns to look at him.
“Daddy!” Ava says running over to him. “Are you making Daisy a bumblebee car?”
“Yes Ava. You outgrown it.” He says gently. Ava looks at the car and then back at Tim.
“I’m too big?”
“Yes.” He says. “Remember you got a bike for your birthday.” Ava’s face lights up in a smile, and Tim knows she’s not upset.
Ava had recently got a big girl bike for her 5th birthday. It was all she could talk about and they put her on it right away. She fell a few times but managed to get back up.
“Okay daddy.” Ava says and skips off without another word. Tim smiles and then turns back to the car.
Well he better get started.

Tim looks up tutorials on how to make this car. A bumblebee car. She wonders where she got that idea.
Lucy comes out to bring him some water, since there is sweat running down his face. “You know you don’t have to do this all in one day babe.” She says. “Daisy is patient.”
“I know.”
“But I love that you are doing it for her.” Lucy says. “It’s sweet. Daisy is going to love it.” Tim hums softly and he hopes that Daisy likes this.
“She’s worth it.” Tim says. “She’s very worth it.”

Tim finishes the car pretty quickly, he even puts wings on it.
It’s pretty buzz worthy if you ask him.
“Daisy,” Tim calls and he sees his daughter look over at him from across the yard. He sees her face light up and then she’s running across the yard. “Your car is done.”
“It’s so cool!” Daisy squeals. “Thank you daddy!”
“You like it?” Tim asks. Daisy nods her head enthusiastically. “You are welcome Dais. Why don’t you try it out!” Daisy squeals and hops in the car. She turns it on and then she’s off.
Tim hears the door open and sees Lucy coming out with June on her hip and Levi at her side.
“Look at my car mommy!” Daisy squeals. “It’s a bee!” Lucy walks over and Tim scoops Levi up. He flips him over making him squeal and smiles when Lucy shakes her head at him.
“You spoil our kids.” She says but she’s smiling like she doesn’t think it’s a bad thing at all.
“It’s not spoiling. It’s called love.” Tim says pressing a kiss to the side of her head. “She loves it.” Lucy nods and leans into Tim.
“You are an amazing dad Tim.” Lucy says. Tim sighs but watches as Daisy drives around the yard. Ava is following behind like she is making sure nothing happens to her.
“We are doing okay huh?” Tim asks. Lucy nods and puts June down by her feet. Ava comes over and Tim pulls her into his other side.
This was perfect. His amazing family by his side, his wife and his kids.
It’s not always perfect, but this was certainly buzz worthy.
