Work Text:

Albert and Jake, two peas of a pod. Two halves made whole. Two ‘good friends’! Very common terms for people who are close.

But sometimes people get closer. Sometimes, the people getting closer are at a fancy event for the stupid gaming platform, Roblox.

Albert sits in the uncomfortable chairs at the table, surrounded by his fellow peers. Well-known to him for years, Temprist, Kaden, Laugh, and Dani talk around him. They’re great and all, but he was waiting on Jake, who was running a little late. He decides to strike up a small talk with Kaden next to him to simply not lose it from boredom.

“Hey Kaden,” Albert nudged his pal, “What dumb useless feature do ya think David’s announcing tonight?” He questioned with a small laugh.

“I dunno, my best bet is more restrictions for safety.” Kaden replied, defining the word ‘safety’ in air quotes. “You bored too?” He asked.

“Yeah, I’m just wondering when Jake’s gonna show..” Albert muttered, yawning.

Quite genuinely 14 minutes before the whole event starts, Jake hurriedly walked to the table with everyone nearby in a lord knows how wrinkled suit. His hair however, was pretty well-kept. It startled the group with how rushed he looked.

“Sorry guys, traffic was.. insane.” Jake huffed, trying to fix his tie slightly. “I’m not late am I?” He stammered.

“You’re not.” Albert replied. “It’s only about 14 minutes until it starts.”

“Oh. Well that’s good!” Jake celebrated. “Glad I got here just in time.” He commented sarcastically.

“Just take a seat, dummy.” Albert said in faux-annoyance. In all seriousness, he really did care for Jake. They have been friends for years after all.

For the remaining time they had left before it started, Jake and Albert had a lengthy conversation about why one of them looked like they just tossed themself into a bush. Just as they were talking, the lights dimmed and Baszucki walked onto the massive stage to start his useless speech about ‘the future of Roblox’.

It went something like this: blah blah blah innovation, blah blah blah artificial intelligence, blah blah blah safety and security… the whole shabang. While Mr. Baszucki was starting on the new feature of ‘restrictionless access to unrated experiences’, which is just another way of saying ‘give us your ID so we can sell it to people’, Albert got a message from Jake on his phone. He discreetly opened it up to see what its contents were.

“Yo come to the restrooms I managed to sneak over and got bored real quick, be discreet :/“

    “Alr I’ll try lol”

Once he slid his phone in his pocket, Albert quietly creaked his chair away from the table to stand up and tip-toed (not literally) to the building’s restrooms. Temp gave him a small glance, but it’s not like he really cared that much at the moment. He hastily snuck inside the restroom door, spotting Jake with his stupid wrinkled suit and all.

“It’s nice to be alone in this hellhole of a conference, don’t ’cha think?” Albert commented, leaning against the sinks. “No old man talking about useless garbage.”

“I guess. What’s David talking about anyway?” Jake pondered, inching his hand onto Albert’s. He had started looking anywhere that wasn’t his friend’s face to hide the growing blush.

Albert took a quick glance and slightly shifted his view to Jake’s face, or— well— what he could see of it. “Just something about giving your ID to Roblox, y’know..?” He slightly stuttered in his words, moving closer.

“Expected out of the company n- nowadays.” Jake mumbled, realizing how close the two of them have gotten. Truly embarrassing. “Let’s head into a stall…”

“Uhm, yeah, let’s.” Albert responded, huddling them to the nearest stall and locking the door. “Should we really be doing this, Jake?” He questioned sheepishly.

“Who cares? It’s the restroom for a fancy Roblox event, not much dignity left to lose.” Jake objected, pulling Albert to his face, their breaths mixing slightly with tension.

Their hands intertwined, goosebumps creeping up on Jake’s skin. After stalling for so long, Albert just pulled their faces together in a sweet kiss. It was awfully quick , but still tense with affection.

“Albert, you’re so hot..” Jake whispered, trying to initiate another kiss.

“That’s just the shock talking, man.” Albert mumbled.

Jake was sure what he was saying was right, it probably was because of the shock of the kiss making him say that. He didn’t really care, dragging Albert into another kiss. However, this one got more… passionate. They made minor noise; small huffs, some minor thuds from hitting the stall, etc. Eventually the two creators had pulled away, a minor string of saliva connecting their lips still.

“Wow Jake, you’re an insanely good kisser.” Albert breathed out, trying to catch his breath.

“Could say the same to you.” Jake replied with a small grin.

Jake was pulling Albert towards him again, their eyes looking at eachother with— someone knocked on the stall. Then again. The two ‘lovebirds’ just got horribly caught in the act of practically making out.

“Ay, hurry up in there can you?” A familiar voice echoed in the room.

“Use a urinal, loser!” Albert spat back. “I’m kinda busy in here!”

“Albert?” The voice realized, holding back a small laughter.

“Forrest- I mean- Kreek?” Albert sputtered, pushing away Jake gently. “Sorry dude we- I’LL get out in a moment just look away!” He explained.

“Okay.” Kreek replied, proceeding to not look away.

Albert opened the stall’s door, just shoving Jake out before himself, and rushing to the sinks. He looked at himself in the mirror, mumbling “what am I even doing man..” to himself.

Kreek truly had a sight to behold. Two friends who were in one stall, presumably giving eachother passionate kisses. He turned slightly to Jake, who was just standing in deep embarrassment.

    “So.. are you two-“

“Do not even say a word about this, Kreek.” Jake retorted in bitter annoyance.

“Oookay then.” Kreek mumbled, looking awkwardly to the side and seeing Albert still definitelyquestioning his choices in life. Kreek just decided to cut his losses and just leave the restroom, who needs to use the restroom anyways?

“Ohh my god he’s gonna tell everyone we made out in the bathroom…” Albert mumbled.

“I doubt it.” Jake had silently commented. He would make sure it wasn’t going to be spread… probably.

As the two silently sneak out back to the table, they realize the conference was almost over. Awkward….

Temp was the first to notice their return, but still didn’t really mention anything about it as he was more focused on the conference’s wrap-up. The two creators had just sat next to eachother and held hands under the table while watching Baszucki speak more slop about Roblox’s future.

The both of them wished one day they would have a real, proper kiss. However, neither of them expected it to be in the bathroom stall of the Roblox Developer Conference.. or that they would get caught. Nothing came of that incident, surely.
