Work Text:
I was tired so I went to bed, it was eleven o'clock anyways so I needed sleep.
Not even ten minutes afterwards I was sound asleep. At first, it was all peaceful. No nightmares I thought, but I definitely shouldn't have thought that. About maybe two hours later I was starting to dream about Nadakhan.
No it wasn't dreaming. . .
It was the opposite.
"Get him!" Someone yelled in the distance, my head was spinning and my vision was hazy.
It was my fifth time playing Scrap n' tap. I would rather be scrubbing the deck getting heat exhaustion then playing this crap. I had got heat exhaustion before from countlesly trying to scrub the deck clean (even when it was).
It wasn't a good experience, it was so bad to the point they chucked me back in my cell. Although that was better, it still wasn't good. Sure! I had shade. But no water.
I thought I was going to die.
And it wasn't the first time I thought that.
Scrap n' tap went by slowly. Painfully slow, quite literally. I had no strength left, I was malnourished and couldn't think correctly because of my heart beat sounding like it was pounding against my ear.
Was it? No. Sure felt like it though.
"Hold him!" Someone yelled from the circular crowd which had been formed.
Yelling started to ring in my ears. All yells of agreement. . .
I physically had to restrain myself from throwing up when someone kicked my abdomen. "Fuck." I muttered under by breath. Barely above a whisper.
I doubled over, then my knees buckled and I was panting quickly. How was I tired? I shouldn't be!
Then again I haven't had a drink since yesterday and it's now, what? Two fifteenth?
Someone bashed my ribs harshly.
Crack.
Loud, no- no. Quiet? Fuck, hurts.
My rib hurts!!!
The crowd, it was silent. That 'crack' made the whole crowd go quiet. Were they shocked? Probably.
All I could think about was the pain. That was the most notable thing, the only thing I could concentrate on fully.
Suddenly, the crowd burst into quiet muttering then slowly dispersed away, probably going back to doing. . Whatever they were doing.
I lay there on the floor, eyes watering. The tears were dripping heavy, thick, quickly.
I clutched my left side which was throbbing in pain. "ACK!!" I coughed out.
I saw Nadakhan towering over me -sniggering- through teary eyes. He was keeping my body straight, it was hurting. My rib was hurting.
"What have they done to you?" He asked in a soft tone. With one had he started to loom over to my aching ribs.
My body tensed, -breath hitching- my oxygen cutting itself off. I was scared, so so scared.
He pushed his hand into the injured.
I screamed, dots swimming into my vision.I was about to pass out, I was so sure of it.
But no, ofcourse he wouldn't allow that. He removed his hand before I nearly passe out. My breathing coming out in ragged pants.
I must've had adrenaline, or something. Because barely even twenty seconds after he stopped the pain was gone. No, it was numb. I couldn't feel.
All I could feel was my heart bashing my chest and my face becoming increasingly wet.
"You know." He whispered in my ear, "You could just. . . Wish it all away?"
I glared at him sharply, I had never had more hatred for a man in my life before. I shook my head, never.
Nadakhan scoffed "So be it then." He dragged me below deck harshly and chucked me into my cell. It was dark, cold and. . . Wet? Why is there-
Nadakhan interrupted my train of thought, "If you get thirsty theres water in that bucket." He smirked, "that won't be refilled for five days."
I looked at the small bucket he was talking about when he left. It was small. Maybe three days worth of water, and that's only if I have a small portion.
I slowly began to sit down, the numbing pain on my ribs had started to decrease. Instead I was met with on of the worst sensations ever. I don't even know how do describe it. . .
I slowly started to drift into a agonizing sleep.
I woke up eye wide, it was just a dream right!? Yea- yeah! Just a dream.
My breathing started to increase, I felt around everywhere, I wasn't back on that ship. I wasn't. . .
It was a warm night, the temperature which you would on the deck of the ship.
I felt tears start to form, I felt my face, already wet. I had been crying already.
Soon the tears began to pour down like a waterfall. My head started to go fuzzy, drifting away from the real world.
My breathing hitched, fuck. I thought.
"-ay?"
What??
"-ay!"
What was that?
"Jay!!"
I looked up, my hands were covering my face so I could just about see who was there.
Cole.
"Jay, can you breathe for me buddy?" He asked, I tried but I couldn't, I felt like I was suffocating. I shook my head, my sobbing increased.
Cole nodded, "try to match mine, okay?" I nodded slowly.
One deep breath in.
Copied.
One deep breath out.
Unable to. . .
One deep breath in.
Copied.
One deep breath out.
Copied.
We continued the cycle for what felt like hours, or maybe only ten minutes. I wasn't sure.
"There you go. ." Cole whispered, I hugged onto him tightly resting my head on his shoulder, crying quietly.
He stroked my hair, putting soft fingers through the curls and unmatting them.
"Want to talk about it?" He whispered calmly, I shook my head slowly. He nodded in response.
After a couple minutes of silence Cole broke it and started talking again. "Want to go back to sleep?" He asked softly, I shook my head once more.
"Wanna watch a movie then?" He asked.
I contemplated, that would be nice. . .
"Y-yeah." I muttered, my voice hiccuping from how I'd been crying minutes prior.
Cole grabbed me in a bridal carry and he walked into the gaming room, due to it being the only one with a TV.
He set me on the sofa and put a fluffy blanket over me, he passed me the TV remote and I put on 'The lion king'.
Mid way through I felt myself drifting into the realm of slumber again, I buried myself next to Cole even more and soon enough,
I was asleep.
