Mualani watched Kokomi align dishes in front of her as smells mixed in the air, making her stomach growl.
- I know you like deep fried fish so I'm starting with the tempuras. There's sakura petals in the batter. It creates amazing layers of crispness and freshness in each bite !
Hesitant at first, Mualani finally took the sandy bite with her chopsticks, surprised by the crunchiness of it. The warm exterior contrasted stronger than announced with the shrimp inside, soft and tasty.
- I really like that. Do you think we could create a Natlanese version ?
She took the second tempura from the plate.
- Certainly ! Now summer obliges.. unagi fillet, or grilled eel ! Fatty, soft and sweet, you have to try it at least once.
This time, the dish wasn't really appetising, but Mualani saw worse. However, she couldn't stop her disgusted face when the first bite entered her mouth. It really was as described.. but not good. The sauce wasn't bad, but the slightly firm eel wasn't of her taste.
- I'm definitely not surprised by this one. It's usually disliked by tourists – you really have to grow with it.
Mulani murmured excuses as she forced herself to swallow.
- Don't worry ! I prepared the next one with a lot of love. Let me present you my special dish, egg sushis !
The pretty egg pouch sat nicely on the plate. Their fish tails made difficult to see how they were supposed to be eaten but Mulani loved them.
- I didn't know egg could be this nice with rice.
A smile appeared on Kokomi face, who was eating the remaining unagi.
- I'm so happy to hear that, love ! I can make more for you if you want. That would be my pleasure.
Now, they had to figure out how to make sushis in Natlan.
