June 12th, 1986, Early evening. Timeline 1986E (Lone Pine). Marty's Bedroom.
Today, it was finally Marty's 18th birthday. Time flies when you're all over the place in the river of time. And not having any fun, to boot. How many days had he spent doing that?
Right. 21 days. It's hard not to think about that.
18 years, and an extra 21 days old.
Martin and 85A have been here for 5 days now. He'd been helping keep the peace between those two, as well as cleaning up Doc's notes.
But, by now... He'd been tuning it all out more and more and more everyday. Doc's frustration. The fighting between 85A and Martin.
'Will both of you just quit it!? Doc's trying to ask you questions and get you home!'
He'd snapped yesterday afternoon. Thrown the broom to the ground and slammed and locked the door to the study before Doc could even say anything. When he woke up today, Doc had urged him to take a day off.
'It's your birthday, Marty! Go spend time with your family.'
'B-But Doc, I-'
Marty kept insisting on staying, but Doc wore him down.
'Good luck with those two, Doc.'
Martin and 85A are both pieces of work... He hopes and prays Doc can handle them.
He'd gone out with Jennifer, but mostly spent his day staring off into space- Blame, guilt, you name it. It's all he's been feeling.
He'd missed school again, no shocker. He'd been doing his work in Doc's study, under the guise of being sick. Jennifer even noted that Mr. Strickland was quite impressed with Marty's studiousness.
Even Needles was leaving him alone for once- Didn't even throw (or try to throw) anything at him like he usually would.
And he'd even told him happy birthday.
'Hey! McFly!'
'What, Needles?'
'I'm gonna cut you a break today. Happy birthday, Big M.'
Not necessarily off-putting, but strange coming from Needles, despite how unpredictable he tends to be. Maybe Tiff's softening him up.
He's not quite sure what's going on between those two. Dating...? Whatever it is, Needles is bothering him a bit less.
Enough about all that. It's his first year celebrating with his family- All together, all happy. He'd usually just go to Doc's place. And now, Doc probably didn't even remember that...
Sure, everyone would wish him happy birthday, but with how depressed the whole family was... Nothing was much of a celebration.
Though, knowing 85A and Martin- They didn't get to celebrate at all.
85A Biff was absolutely terrible. Under Citizen Brown- No, more like under Edna Brown... Any form of birthday celebration was probably banned.
Did Martin even know his birthday?
They're both complete and total assholes, sure- But, he's been doing his best to accommodate them. They deserve at least a little something.
"How many fuckin' times do I have to say it, square!? Shut the fuck up!"
A resounding slam comes from the door to Doc's study, and 85A's the cause, making Marty jump as he's putting something in the fridge. He turns and stares at him.
"Fuck are you looking at, butthead?"
"Aha... I'll get out of your hair."
Marty practically runs out the side door.
"Fuck was that about...?"
85A notices he'd left a note on the fridge.
"Happy birthday..."
85A peeks inside. It's cake... Chocolate cake.
Guess they're not so different, after all.
