When Loid adopted Anya and they became the Forgers, he made sure that the families with the surnames Williams, Levski, Klein, and Roche that were most likely to adopt were either no longer in Berlint or at least lived in or worked on the other side of the city. For the ones that were too close for his liking, he made sure to keep Anya away from any neighborhoods or establishments that would increase the chance of a run-in. In a city of almost 1.3 million people, there was a very small chance that the Forgers would run into any of them by happenstance. It was such a small chance that Loid had discounted the possibility after doing the math.
Perhaps that chance hadn’t been small enough.

“I had nowhere else to go,” Rumi said, barely holding herself up under the storm.
Jinu blinked as he looked at her standing in front of him, as if he couldn’t believe his eyes. As if she were an illusion that could vanish into the rain at any moment. His eyes swept over her with such intensity that he was sure she could feel his gaze like a physical touch. And then he saw the blood.
Before his brain could process it all, she seemed to let go of the last thread of will keeping her upright, and collapsed. And again, without thinking, he caught her in his arms as if it were the most natural thing in the world. As if she belonged there. As if they weren’t sworn enemies who had tried to kill each other.
In the end, Jinu knew something was irrevocably wrong in his head, and the ultimate proof was how he carried the body of that hunter as if she meant something to him, and took her into his apartment, even though he knew that if anyone found out, he would’ve been better off born dead.

Summary

This life, Anya opts out. She ignores politics, eats pastries, and lets history ruin itself without her involvement. That ends when she saves Damian’s life, and he responds like any sensible future warlord would: by proposing immediately. Now she’s engaged to the man who’ll destroy the world, and worse, her plan to do nothing with her life has gone off the rails.
It’s all going surprisingly well, aside from the constant sense she’s being outmanoeuvred in a game nobody wants to admit they’re playing.

Summary
Twilight is extracted from the Forger family in order to conduct Operation Strix from the shadows six months after Donovan Desmond's death. Per WISE higher ups, the "shift in mission focus" deems the Loid Forger character not only unnecessary, but detrimental to mission success. No one told him he was going to "drown on a family camping trip" on Anya's tenth birthday, though. There was no need to tell him. After all, dead men don't get to say goodbye.
...
So, how the hell do they expect Loid Forger to say hello after he was presumed dead for the better part of the last decade? And why? Why now? What changed? What is WISE hiding? And, more importantly, will his daughter ever forgive him?
